Ok, what did he do in that 10-15 mins? Barely noticed him except that scuffed shot.
You know how it goes , we get “linked” with Player A , nothing comes of it and Player A goes to rival club. Player A is going to be great we missed out blah blah blahWhy were you waiting for someone to post that?
The club doesn't seem to mind getting taken to the cleaners over 'Prem proven' playersImagine spending £80m on a player like Harry Maguire but now we decide it's time to take a stand and not let clubs fleece us.

Well firstly, I noticed his energy and movement. He made good runs and popped up in the right areas offensively and defensively. He made a good tackle tracking back in his own box. He looked like a player who has comfort on the ball, the few times he touched it too.
Now added to the fact that he’s a player who was pursued, allegedly, by Spurs, West Ham, United and Chelsea - and my first viewing of him, the impression I left with is that he looks to have something. Whatever he does have, my thinking was that he isn’t one of the foreign players who will be unable to show it due to nerves, panic etc. First thing I noticed was his willingness to get involved, and he seems confident. Makes me feel that whatever talent he has that made these clubs chase him will likely be showcased.
It was 10 minutes. I liked my first viewing. It could have been very different. Often you see loose touch, nerves etc, poor decisions. Similar to how Chong has typically played in the first team. That was his first game, away from home and he looked comfortable. That’s it really.

You probably need to take a class on watching football.
Absolutely. I did think about mentioning that as wellThe Fellaini deal was more laughable.
You were right all along. It was not just the scuffed shot, think I also saw him take a mighty impressive throw in. Also looked super comfortable on the ball the three times he touched it. It's a fecking disgrace how the club didn't even try to sign this potential megastar.
What do you want us to do? It’s more Man Utd tax. Spurs would land this guy for £50m. When it’s United the selling club sticks another £10-15m on the price. This is partly Woodward’s doing by overpaying for players in the past, but it’s not going to get better if we keep doing it. We need to draw a line in the sand on valuation here, and if Sporting say no then walk away. They’re taking the piss, they’re not getting €80m for this guy, from anyone. They know we’re desperate and they know we have a history of overpaying. If this is where they want to stand then they can keep him, sell him for half that in the summer.
Because it is called negotiation and it goes something like this;
We like your player but we have a different valuation on him and this is our offer.
If Sporting were not prepared to lower their fee then it would have gone no further but because it is still happening it is obvious they will take less.
Something like selling a house, you always set the price higher than what you will actually take,
No idea who you are should I be ?You obviously haven’t read many posts of mine.
I honestly don't care that much whether we signed him specifically or not, if we think he's overpriced we should start monitoring other targets so that At the moment we should start scouting other midfielders available to pay and even engage in negotiation with them. At the moment all Sporting are seeing is we're desperate for a midfielder and look like we don't have other options so decided to elevate the price tag heavily knowing we'll end up paying with such circumstances. Just move on from him and check other options.
All that matters is us signing a midfielder this window, be it Bruno or anyone else, doesn't matter.
How do you know we aren’t? Remember when we were being fecked around over Morientes according to the press and then signed Lukaku in the space of 3 or 4 days? Turned out we had been working on Lukaku for 5 months and he was our primary target.
We’ve definitely got our primary targets and we will definitely have enquires about their availability this window but it’s very unlikely they will be available if they’re the sort of quality that is needed to take us up a level or two.
if the clubs were so far in their valuation of the player, why even go into this?
The difference really needs to be about 5% and the payment should be about how it is done. Add Ons and such.
This really is on Woodward...again.
I feel like the longer this drags on the better player he becomes in the minds of our fans. He's a good player and better than what we have but we aren't signing a top tier elite midfielder here who the whole of Europe are chasing. I feel some people need to lower their expectations
Wonder if this is exactly what Ed wants - "we tried" etc.
In your opinion which is closer to within 5% of his value, £45m + £15m or £65m + £15m?
United have paid a bit of a tax with transfers for a long time now because the club is wealthy.
Woodward came into the role of Chief Executive and bragged that he could do things in the market that others could only dream of.
Ever since, selling clubs have insisted he put his money where is mouth is.
I highly doubt they doubled his valuation, that was probably always the valuation and United's PR team have spun it so it looks like Sporting changed their asking price.
Yet another transfer saga where we come out looking inept, pretends to be shocked....

A technical director isn't going to be able to stop agents getting involved. Far as I can see, the situation is being managed as it should right now. No way should we be paying that kind of money.Kaveh Solhekol@SkyKaveh·1mManchester United letting it be known they won’t overpay for Bruno Fernandes. Sporting well within their rights to ask for £68m for midfielder who’s scored almost 50 times in 18 months. United well within their rights not to pay fortunes to agents who’ve muscled in on the deal
Great so now it's agents at fault again?? Get a bloody technical director if you can't handle them you bloody bankers.
The smart thing now would be to stop negotiating with Sporting and sign Marcos Llorente. This will put us in a strong negotiating position.
Furthermore, we must act how Madrid and Barca do, i.e. they make the player kick up a fuss which puts the selling club in a weak position. Do all this and hopefully we can seal this deal at 50m euros and 10m euros add ons.
Yup. If the media reported Sporting hadn't changed their asking price, then he'd take it as gospel.Gotta keep pushing that agenda, despite what all media outlets say
