Not like he was decisive in the win for Portugal or anything. The vitriol he's getting, while people lament other players being boring at the same time, is ludicrous. Fantastic player.

On a side note, found it funny that he immediately assisted two goals after moving to a central position from the wing

You’re very true. His figures speak for themselves.

Interesting to see how he plays without Ronaldo now.

He really isn’t. But I guess two assists against Ghana is getting everyone hot and bothered in here.
It’s ok to praise our players now and again too you know. Doesn’t always have to be criticism .

TBF I would love for him to get back to the decisive player he was for us when he first joined. But he hasn’t been that player for a while now.

Don’t really care what he does for Portugal.

So it’s best to shit on him when you can?

Hmmm

Yes he's not that great

...besides his chance creation being one of the highest in the premier league
... And assists
... And goalscoring
... And work rate
But besides all that, he's pretty poor really, barely a football player at all.

Clearly you are wasted on the redcafe. Remind us when you get that scouting job for Ajax because you can really tell when someone can see someones TRUE potential.

It is ridiculous.

He is 3rd in chances created in the league and still averaging 0.23 xA per game. It is only poor finishing from Ronaldo that is keeping his assists number lower. He has slightly tailed off on goalscoring but that will return with a more agile #9.

Terrific player, multiple great performances from United players today (Casemiro being the other one).

Even if you want to ignore statistics completely (which would be odd because how you can argue with raw data I'll never understand) then comparing us with Fernandes Vs us WITHOUT is night and day, we look completely bereft of ideas when he doesn't play. The games that opponents "mark" (basically just kick) Fernandes all game are the ones we struggle in, and it's noticeable.

So it’s best to shit on him when you can?

Hmmm

Reductive. He is capable of much more than he’s shown for a while now. Yet he remains a Caf favorite despite his wastefulness in possession and petulance on the pitch.

It’s a bit weird.

Actually, at United, Rashford was the main culprit last season and the season before missing tons of one-on-ones fed by Bruno.

I’m not shitting on him. He has a lot of good qualities. I just responded to a post calling him one of the best players in the world. Which is clearly not the case.

It’s telling that many of the responses to my comments on him are extremely childish.

That’s two more than De Bruyne managed against Canada.
Can only imagine what the posts in here would be like from certain posters if he'd put in the performance KDB did against Canada.

It’s telling that when you chat utter drivel, people mock you for it yes.

But you spin that into you being the voice of reason why don’t you.

United fan questioning why United fans are happy their player had a good game, my lord :wenger:

I always love it when our players do well for their national teams. Seems lots however only watch to spot that moment where a player does one thing shit in a match. We really do love shitting on our own.

My views on his performance are influenced by my will to see Ronaldo fail and general dislike of the Portuguese national team but I love Bruno.

Honestly I wouldn’t know as I quit watching international stuffs as soon as Qatar was announced.

I just think we need more from Bruno than he has shown this season or last. Which seems to be a scandalous opinion here. Which is a bit weird.

I do think and hope Ronaldo’s departure will help him though. We will see…

That was an embarrassing performance from someone who is supposedly the best midfielder in PL. It’s not just about stats, but just the sheer lack of ability on the ball was quite surprising. Goes to show how much players benefit from proper tactics by their managers.

i also think rashford being less selfish and Antony hopefully with better crosses/decision making Bruno can be a lot more dangerous for the rest of this season.

Ronaldo’s departure will help him since Bruno use to be on the end of a lot of break and score on 1v 1s. An actual number 9 would help his numbers in assists but also ETH working on him retaining possession will help

He'll be like a new signing with Ronaldo gone.

Really hoping this is the case. He has the potential to benefit a lot from the arrival of a proper centre-forward.

I’m also still hopeful that ten Hag’s coaching can help minimize the really frustrating aspects of his game. There have been some signs of that in the first part of the season, but also other games where he reverts back to trying that unlikely killer pass every single time he gets the ball. He would be such a greater asset to have if he could pick his moments better.

There is a difference between saying he needs to do better and shitting on him. There are alot here that think we cant win anything with Bruno in the side, that is scandalous opinion btw.

What's been wrong with Bruno this season btw? You think he's been poor?

That’s not a scandalous opinion. It’s not exactly optimal to rely on a #10 who is so wasteful with possession. Nor is it shitting on him to say so. And yes, he’s been poor more often than he’s been good this season.

He has to play a more measured game under ten Hag. He was a world beater playing on the break when he first joined. But that is no longer our approach. Hopefully he can adapt.

Saying that 1 player is the reason we wont win titles is not scandalous?

Considering that player since joining has most goals and assists in PL? Yeah its scandalous for a team to want goals and assists.

Really? Seems like you haven't been watching then, or understanding the play from ETH.

How many times has ETH said he wants to win the ball back and transition quickly? You do realise playing on the break doesn't mean just sitting back deep? It can also mean win the ball back and play on the transition, where Bruno is probably one of the best.

Finally, people are quick to shit on Bruno but he is probably one of the hardest working players too, fans keep saying we need mentality and leaders. When we have one, fans like you say we cant win the trophies because of him.

Some people seem to think he needs to be playing at the level he did in first season to be considered a top player.

Those people are idiots because that level is so far beyond expectations of any player. He was never going to keep that up and its not a slight that he hasnt.

He's a fantastic player even in his current form. Just not Ballon door level.

More childish huffing and puffing. Where did I say we can’t win anything because of Bruno ? I merely said it wasn’t a scandalous opinion to think we might struggle to win the league relying on such a wasteful player in such a crucial position on the pitch. Do you know the meaning of scandalous ?

He needs to adapt his game to a more possession-based approach under EtH. Cut out the flicks and Hollywood balls and keep it simple for the good of the team. Because we aren’t sitting deep anymore which means we are caught out more easily when possession is given away cheaply.

Exactly. That first season, he showed his quality. The fact that he actually maintained it for such a long time, it shows it wasn't just a purple patch.

He still has been good this season imo.

People who bring last season, for me, no player actually done well last season, including the team, so I am willing to back him.

Not every player needs to be Ballon Dor level, he helps the team, which is the important thing for me.

It's ridiculous. It's clear as day that he's the one setting the standard even without the armband. If we win anything of notice the next 2-3 years, I'm sure he will be integral to it.

Clearly, if you don't think its scandalous, you agree with the statement. Yes, I do, which is why I disputed it.

Okay, you feel Bruno is a wasteful player right? So in your opinion, a player being in the top 3 chances created is wasteful?

It seems you prefer a player who can keep the ball and passes it back? The fact that Bruno wants to get on the ball and create things is actually a plus for me, instead of say a Donny who wants to passes it back and sideways.

Also, if people think we will struggle to win trophies with Bruno, does that mean our manager should not be in the job too? Because we want a manager who's aspiration is to win things and relying on a player who can't help us win things is scandalous?

Surely, having Ten Hag as manager is scandalous too if we want to win trophies?

I mean if you done some research, in a possession based team, Ten Hag's 10 at Ajax had the same pass % as Bruno.

The sheer number of ridiculous presuppositions you packed into this post is impressive.

It was fair that Bruno's stats were compared to KDB's because some of the important ones, like goal-creating stats, are very close. KDB is a better player at his peak, and Bruno is one of the best players in the world.

If 100 people excluding some on here named a world eleven he wouldnt be in any of them. He is a good player I am not saying he isnt, but he really isnt one of the best players in the world, never has been and never will be, nonsense

I have to question that if it isnt blind loyalty to the clubs own players I wonder wht some are watching

Well when the stats support my opinion and don’t support yours then it’s a hell of a stretch to accuse me of being the blind/biased one.

But yeah, at least one of us needs to pay more attention to his contributions when watching us play…

Not being in a world 11 doesn't make him "not one of the best". There is only 1 #10 in the 11, and pretty much everyone picks De Bruyne. That's fine. But it's also a very tough ask to find who is #2 in the world as a 10 if it's not Bruno, based on the past 3 years. He's in that tier without a doubt behind De Bruyne. Which makes him one of the best.

Bruno, Casemiro and someone like FDJ is the way to go. Point is , we need Bruno in the first team.

The player just had 2 assists and great game in the World Cup. You should had days off because your criticism is unnecessary and irrelevant to his performance.

You only mention positive stats....and how do you even analyse stats "assiss" big difference between a corner, three yard pass and a defence splitting pass or ourageous pece of skill leading to a goal, but its all labelled the same way. Is an obsession with analysing a players performance from stats with mdoern generation of fans....Wha about simply watchign a player play

Last time I checked, goals win you games right? Goals are a stat and more goals you score and less you concede more chance of winning things?

I dont think its modern generation fans, people keep talking about the goals players in the past have scored as well.

I watch Bruno play, my eye test says he works really hard for the team, forces turnovers, creates chances and can chip in with a goal.

I dont know, maybe you prefer the players who can pass sideways and backwards but have no end product.
