Doesn't have a goal or assist this pre season yet is playing brilliantly IMO. Those who doubted if he could do it in a system like this or how he'd play with no goals or assists ...

I obviously had my doubts, but I said if he could reign the Hollywood stuff in, he could be an asset. So far, he’s reigned it in and the signs are promising. I’ve always said when he plays it simpler, he’s so much better.

Not going to judge him on this game as the conditions are poor so the poor touches and passes are to be expected.

Yeah. Think Ole's logic for all of them was "make things happen and be free", and Rashford and Bruno pretty much had full responsibility to create, but create without a set system. Leads to more Hollywood plays.

I wouldn’t call his performances brilliant on this tour? But he is showing he can reign in his game.

He’s had some good games indeed, although today less so.

That’s the key for me though. If you cannot be considered to have a good game without a goal/assist then you should be a centre forward and not a midfield player. He’s done well on the whole this pre-season. Would have been good to see him going half for half with Eriksen.

Nice that we'll be able to just swap them when it's not working out, or just play Eriksen where Donny was today which I think will be the more common selection

I still have reservations about that midfield personally. Donny needs to be sold though. Not good enough.

Him adjusting his game just goes to show how shite the coaching was under Ralf and Ole. I find it incredible that they weren't bothered by it, or even worse is that they couldn't make him change it. Still preseason though, but if his approach is different then that probably means ETH had a problem with his style of play immediately when he started coaching him, which is good sign.

I wasn't able to see the game today, can someone who did tell me this: how did Bruno Fernandes seem? I don't mean his game, I have read about sloppy passing etc. but I mean did he seem happy or not?*

One of the big disappointments for me last year was this player and how he carries himself on the pitch. I work with young people and he is absolutely the opposite of what I want them to be when I coach them. Petulant with a capital 'P' and obviously I'm guessing here because we don't know for sure, but I assume he is a t**t in the dressing room too.

We all want United to play a certain way, but I want the players to project a certain image too and he didn't, particularly last season. I hope he can change.

*I wonder what Bruno is thinking about the Ronaldo situation, I assume they are mates both being Portugese internationals. I believe Cavani definitely fell off a cliff last season because of Christiano's arrival and I think it impacted on Bruno's season too, to an extent.

It is not only him who needed to adjust. The whole team's shape had been pretty bad for the last few years.

Our wing-forwards were infamous for not working hard enough for years, which made the team a lot less compact while defending. Hopefully, that started to change this season. Both Sancho and Rashford still need to do more than what they do now. The wing players in City and Pool play ten times better than them and work hard as much as that for pressing/defending as well.

He looked happy and worked hard but his passing was off and was as usual weak under pressure.

It's challenging to work around his flaws in that kind of game.

When he's in a contest his only hope is to be fouled. He hasn't got the agility to get away or strength to hold players off.

He's great with time, absolutely lethal, but kills so many attacks.

Its like When Rooney moved to midfield and everyone could tell he was past it, Bruno cant keep up with the intricate technical football

I am so happy that Eriksen went straight to the 10 and Bruno went to the left, I am convinced that within ten games, Eriksen will replace him in that position.
Bruno is just not suitable to play in a possession based team, he's a risk taker and Ten Hag is the exact opposite. The players who were the best in Ole's counter attacking team will come up short in this team and the technical players will shine

Was kinda shit, still needs some work to do or I can see ericksen replacing him in the main xi.

Mixed bag, but more bad than good today. I do think he's had a positive pre season, though.

If we don't get a winger, then he could potentially be used there a few times as we saw late on today.

I wonder if the same posters that were beating their chests and mocking doubters of Bruno after the first game preseason will post in here today.

You can't be a top class AM if you are as loose in possession as him or an inconsistent short passer. I've been vocal that I think he'll lose his starting spot at some point this season and might not get it back.

The amount of times the play broke down with him would have been alarming to EtH.

I believe that he will find the proper rhythm at some point but I don't think that he displaces Rashford on the left, who himself isn't going to displace Martial or Ronaldo upfront and the competition with Eriksen could be a problem for him. Anyone else was a bit shocked by the size difference between Eriksen and our other midfielders, it's a bit strange to remember that he is bigger and as mobile.

Still can’t believe we gave him a new deal

Add to the Rooney and De Gea in decline deals. Not that Bruno is in decline as such, more that the league has adapted to him and his limitations are more obvious.

More than Bruno giving ball away I am more concerned about his lack of holding the ball when under pressure. And when he loses near the box we get into trouble.

Trying him as a false 9 would take the chances off our strikers so I think it has a chance to work out under a possession manager - not much else as deep as a CM/CAM.

He's just not all that. People thinking we bought his back up in Eriksen have got it wrong, he is the back up.

First time I heard about ETH coming to United I said players who will have it hardest to adjust will be Bruno and McTominay, because they are slow thinkers.
Actually Bruno has some good ideas at times but when he's asked to play it simple to retain the ball, he fails miserably. Plus, his defensive attributes are non existing, runs a lot but I can't count how many times he positioned himself on the wrong side of player on the ball.

Giving him that contract extension was a ludicrous bit of business. Would’ve been better off cashing in this summer.
