I often struggle to like him but it wasn’t too hard today. Maestro.

Give him time and space and he will flourish. It is against better pressing teams that he fails.

Surprise surprise surprise as some have been calling for years, he can play in midfield. Awesome and makes us so much more balanced. Casemiro, Eriksen/Signing, This Bruno would really help EtH with dictating games.

Well, it didn't, and it had one of the best games. I myself don't think he can play in the deep center against very good teams, but Everton, come on.
They have a very physical team in Gueye, Onana and Doucoure who wasn't available so thought they'd get very tight on him.

Turns out I was wrong and he had a blinder of a performance.

Shows what an intelligent and determined professional he is. Completely transformed his game these last 2 matches because we needed it.

Clear MOTM again

He is fantastic in this deep role. Against opposition we'll dominate, he can easily play there.

Incredible in the first half but some Everton applied more pressure in the second and he made a few hospital passes in dangerous areas as a result. I'd love to see him alongside Cas in the deeper role.

Thought he was great today, performance dipped slightly second half, but apparently he can never be rested.

Great performance even after going into energy saving mode in the 2nd half.

2 of his best and most responsible performances of this season.

Incredible. I mean, truly great game even if we don't consider he's playing out of position.

It's an interesting experiment and I think it'll do him some good as actually this kind of play is what's Bruno is missing at times to complete his game.
I am happy he will be allowed to get back to more attacking role though.

One of my favourite games from him this season, not simply because the execution of his passes were fantastic, but seemed to pick the right moments to slow down and increase the pace of the game. The one moment that stood out to me was some point in the first half, when he received the ball deep and Maguire made a run to the right flank to give him an option. Bruno might usually (and instinctively) try to dink it to Maguire there, which could have instigated an Everton press, but instead he faked the pass, drew Maguire back, and restarted possession in a better shape. As long as he is picking up the ball in those deeper positions, I'd like to see him continue to make balanced decisions like that.

Some of the passes in that first half were ridiculous. Too often you see absolute nonsense posted about Bruno. He can literally play anywhere in midfield. I think if we sign a striker that can share the goal burden with Rashford, Bruno can flourish deeper with Eriksen.

He was good, made some really good passes. Wasteful finishing permitting he would have had a few assists

He should fecking do it more then. It’s so clear how much more we can dominate the game and territory when he isn’t playing shot clock football, he was fantastic yet again today.

If he can sufficiently contribute in this 8 role going forward it also gives us so much more flexibility in our squad building and how we set up

I like the preview of the 36-year-old deep-lying playmaker that we got to see today. MOTM and allowed both McT and Sabitzer to play their natural games.

Agreed but ideally we need to limit the need to having him play there to as close to zero as possible. It worked yesterday but its the sort of thing that could fail against Everton if tried again this weekend.

I love his versatility in the attacking positions just not in CM.

I guess it didn’t fail against Everton, eh!

Two super mature performances from the Portuguese magnifico!!

Yes, he created several goalscoring opportunities again today but his pass accuracy was below 90% so we really should be looking to sell him. Absolute fraud.

Natural position seemingly. I’d honestly move forward with him deeper next to Casemiro, with McTominay starting in the #10 for his physicality and goal threat and Eriksen on the right where he played for Spurs. Something like….

Bruno-Casemiro
Eriksen-McTominay-Rashford
Martial

He was fantastic today, looked world class out there in midfield

Bruno playing deeper is working well, atleast at home. Our problem without Casemiro and Eriksen was progressing the ball, with Bruno playing he is always on the ball and we move the ball easily. It also brings best out of McT, he can make those runs from midfield which unsettles lot of defences.

With Eriksen back Bruno will be back to attacking position.

What do you think about Bruno continuing as the deepest midfielder next to Casemiro and Eriksen at 10? I think it's worth trying as I believe Eriksen is better in tight spaces and better at linking up with the rest of our attackers closer to the opposition's box and this will also allow Bruno to continue dictating play from deep while also creating a lot of chances like he did today. I also think we would control games easier this way.

Back to back motm performances. It seems like the international break helped him recuperate both physically and mentally. He would have had an assist, too, if Antony could finish his meal.

Nice to see him, occasionally, even becoming the left of the back three in the build-up to help progress the ball with Malacia moving further up the pitch. It can work even better with Shaw. Good tactical teak there that also allows Martinez to look for the through ball from more central areas.

With Casemiro and Eriksen returning to the side, we may even try Ancelotti's trick from last season with Kroos/Modric constantly rotating in the role of the DLPand with Casemiro providing a safe option for a pass a bit higher in the midfield.

Depends if Casemiro has the legs to do what McTominay is doing. Not sure if you get the best from Bruno by having someone sitting next to him as the one picking the ball up from the defenders.
