Still got the winn8ng goal
The penalty taker always gets that opportunity. More relevant was the assist to Martial that led to the penalty. That’s his real contribution, on a day when he was dead on his feet and mentally shot.

He's gotten the shit kicked out of him more and more, especially today in the first half when he had to take that knock and get through it. Before his penalty, he was fouled and wasn't protected by Atkinson and I thought he was going into a shell a little bit because he was getting hacked and Atkinson allowed it. Big take for the penalty and after that you could see he was boosted and ran off the ball a lot more before he was subbed out.

All this is still a learning experience for him and he's still be so impactful!

Anyone know why he covers his ears when he celebrates? I know he's got some right stonkers on him, but surely that can't be the reason why.
"The hands covering the ears" is how his daughter celebrates while watching him score goals. Cute.

I came to this thread to post exactly that. The precision and weight on the ball was exquisite and it had to be, otherwise Martial gets cleanly tackled

He’s not the most talented player in our squad (Martial or Pogba are), but he’s got balls and a never die attitude which is very endearing. I love how vocal he is and think will be even better next year.

Captain material.

Saved our season.
Been here less than a year and already our best and most important player by far.

Any penalty he's taking is a certain goal.
If Rashford or Pogba taking that penalty, I have low confident.

I was telling my friend that we should take him off as he looked dead tired, then he goes and gets the assist (if you wanna call it that - pass that led to the penalty).

Always making a difference. Our most important player.

Clearly knackered in the last several games. Even still made a crucial contribution today with the penalty, both involved in getting it and the goal itself.

Has looked poor last few games, hopefully it's just tiredness. I know he's a creative player and naturally he's going to give the ball away more than most due to his risk taking nature, and you have to accept that but some of the passes have just not been there and he has rushed them giving the ball away needlessly.

Hopefully gets a good rest now, don't play him against LASK. Bring him back in for the next game.

I see many people saying that him giving the ball away a lot is perfectly fine as he's a risk taker and that's the trade off with such players. But I don't quite agree with that. The best creative players tend to find that balance between retaining the ball, and playing the killer pass, and picking the right moment /executing it just right. Of course that pass is not easier to pull of than a sideways one but that's what makes for a top creative outlet - that the risk involved for then to pull it off is much lower than others.

For example I don't think Ozil at his best gave the ball away plenty. Same with Messi and KDB.

Not that I think it's been a problem with Bruno throughout. He has been Incredible since he joined us and his impact on the team has been immense. But, over the last 2-3 games he's been extremely wasteful although that could just be down to him being exhausted and understandably so. My only point is that come next season, when he is fresh and ready to go, we don't need to push the narrative that creative players have to keep giving the ball away to be creative.

I see people talking about Bruno coming back for the Europa QFs.

I think we need to give him a month off, and have him come back last week of August together with hopefully new signings.

A fresh and fit Bruno is what we need for the start of next season, not the tired version which is what will happen if we bring him back for the QFs.

Ole needs to get on his game -last few games teams have been targeting Bruno. It's kind of like when we targetted Hazard. Getting the shit kicked out of him and needs to get a modicum of protection from the refs.

Imo he'll have to get used to this. It's the nature of the PL and he's a matured player. We used to kick the sht out of other teams' big players as well, if necessary.

Since the VAR talk, refs stopped giving fouls against us, yesterday and against chelsea ref was very poor.

Don't know if anyone posted yet but he just won the MOTM. Worst performance since he came and still MOTM

I kind of agree with you and i feel that maybe this is because he played in a much weaker team for so long. He is still pretty young though and playing in this first half season in a much better team. I feel with time he will become more refined with his final balls similar to De Bruyne ( who for me is the gold standard when it comes to effectiveness in the final 3rd).
Am not worried about him much because his ability to exploit space is something that will always work in his favour and he is a high output player so you can always expect him to try to create.

He needs the break. Glad he’ll get some time off before the Europa - he looked dead on his feet.

I don't think he has enough quality to pull of the majority of the passes that he attempts. He often messes up simple passes as well. If Pogba was attempting as many as him he'd have a much higher success rate in my opinion. There needs to be a balance. Hopefully its just exhaustion. We will see next year, but I agree with @Rozay that ideally he would be a squad player/potent bench option.

No. Bruno is genuine first team quality. Don't let fatigue induced performances change your mind. He is ridiculously crucial at this point.

Edit: Laughable opinion. Probably should not have replied to it.

He doesn't have the same unerring accuracy or quality as KDB has but it is his work rate that makes him good. Never stops trying and is never short of confidence, will always go for the killer pass even if it does fail most of the times.

Won 2/2 player of the month awards, in July he has 7 goals-Assists in 6 games.

Yes last few games wasn't at his best but that might be because if how many games we played in last 10-12 days.

I think recently he is maybe pushed a little too far up. There is normally a rather large gap between he Pogba and Matic. I like that he is attacking and wants to try things and well he pops up everywhere but at times I think he tries to force things a bit too much.

Yesterday just before the penalty he looked shattered and could barely run, shoulders slouching leaning forward and for once someone came near him with the ball and he never made the effort to get at him. Was just thinking Ole should pull him then 10 secs later pass to Martial and penalty.

When he stepped up I thought given the way his day has gone he’ll miss this but thankfully he did not. Weirdly after the goal seemed to get a 2nd wind. Needs a few weeks off now.

Got to hand it to the guy. Absolutely dead on his feet but stepped up and nervelessly took the most important penalty of the season.

Loved his comments about not being nervous at all and enjoying the pressure. The way he turned Kasper's little bit of gamesmanship into a positive. He has one of the most elite mentalities I've seen from a footballer in ages. Ronaldo like confidence levels. He's going to be a fantastic influence on the squad.

Even Ole admits this was a very tired Bruno, people need to get a grip.

It's just the type of player he's no matter the state of him he's incredibly risk-driven. When a player is physically shattered it's obvious most things won't come off that goes for every player out there.

Does anyone have any stats? I think he has played the most minutes out of any player since the restart in the whole league (attacking players at least)? He has been run to the ground but we had no alternatives to be fair.

He's come in and straight away become our best player and talisman. He's a super high risk player and as such has a very low bottom level but you have to view his contribution as a whole. He's going to have completely awful games for us throughout his career but overall he's completely changed our fourtunes since he joined.

Let him have a rest and lets win Europa.

I don't want to see him in the Europa League before the semis. Give him a break for a couple of weeks,

It's dangerous to run players into the ground as we ended up doing with Bruno these past few games.

We really need back-up and/or more rotation options next season.

This Covid condensing may well happen again, and if it does, we can't be doing the same thing to our few dependables again.

I was fecking livid with some of his passes, but then I remember it's Bruno and how fecking tired he must be and I can forgive him. Absolutely great player, great character and as someone said, captain material.

He dropped right off this last couple of games.

But I'm happy to say he's been the most influential signing since Cantona.

He transformed our season, our style of play, our confidence.

We're not the finished article, we're still building but this guy has driven us to 3rd place when we had absolutely no right.

While that is true, I really had my doubts if he would score the pen. He looked knackered and taking penalties that fatigued can be quite tricky.

He was utterly terrible otherwise. Slow, clumsy and a step or two behind the tempo of the game.

That being said, he manages to produce at least 1-2 moments of brilliance even in his bad games.

Of course it is dangerous, but we would have not qualified to the CL without him. Not only did he score and assist many times, but he also converted 100% of the penalties - and we (Man Utd fans) know better than very many others, what it is to miss penalties.

Under Ole’a system, we somehow manage to win many penalties, and the skill of converting them is valuable per se, very valuable.
