Football is weird eh. If you're not world-class by 21 years old you'll never fulfil your potential apparently. Yet Bruno Fernandes was still in Portugal at 25 years old. What a player, and again it shows how important a high footballing IQ is. Pereira and Lingard just don't come close.
I remember there was a poster here who said that in the summer and I said it was by far the dumbest thing I have ever heard

Surely that's got to be some sort of corruption? Did you owe Braga or maybe an agent £10m?!
Well Braga is one of Mendes clubs and Varandas asked Mendes for help in Sporting negotiations once BDC left the club (BDC despises Mendes because of his corruption).

so to me this has Mendes written all over it.

I told you feckers since 2017 this lad was the real deal :) I’m happy he is doing well

Sporting look like a pub team right now and it just shows how he literally was a one man team. I mean he literally carried us to the Cup Final by dismantling Benfica all on his own AND scoring against Porto in the final.

United are a few players away and real coach away from being a contender once more.

Its 3 goals I believe
2 in the Premier League, the other was in the Europa vs Brugge.

Anyway you’ve been absolutely spot on about him, really does galvanise those around him and drag them through. It’s clear he’s already demanding proper standards from his team mates and the whole side seems to have been given a boost.

For a great player he is, he certainly whinges a lot at his teammates. The same sort of thing Berbatov used to do and it kind of annoys me. I don’t really like to see it but if that keeps them up on their toes and playing on his level, i’m all for it. Rather than players putting their heads down after a bad pass or shot

Like everything else, there must be balance. Constant whiners who always want the ball at their feet are annoying, but so are deadbeat players that never incite their teammates to do better.

I can see him being the captain at United just as he was at Sporting. I think he has leadership qualities no other player on squad has

He's great, but he has faded a bit towards the end of the last couple of games. Today was probably a bit of a shock to him of how intense the PL can get. Still, if he continues to play like this for the first 60-70 minutes he can do what he wants in the last 10.

I mean we’re holding him to such high standards already because of how good he’s been that we’re forgetting this was his 5th ever Premier League match. He’s playing in a new team, new league and country having joined midway through the season.

Lets hope he can improve even further given further time to adapt and a pre-season to work on the understanding with his teammates.

Remember when his career in Italy was being used to caution against us expecting much from him?

What a player this guy is.

He's totally changed the entire feeling around the team.

It's actually remarkable, he's been great on the pitch but it's even more than that.

He has that arrogance, that aura. It's very hard not to get carried away about him.

I see how he manages to wrack up those mad stats now.

Its only 5 games in the league. However in that short time he's statistically only behind KDB in terms of performance level. It remains to be seen if he could do that for 25 games like KDB has this season, but its an exciting start

Just inject him into my veins. Everything we've been missing. Him and Pogba would be a scary midfield.

I was terrified that we seemed to be the only team in for him midseason for that price
But it turns out Sporting were right and this guy is absolute gold

Going out on a limb here, but it feels like Fernandes is the kind of player we've been wanting for at least a decade. It feels like we have much better control of our games, and has the kind of winner's mentality about him trying to make everything happen instead of coasting along for a ride.

Bit early to tell if this will be a successful signing, but he's been nothing short of excellent so far.

He's the Wesley Sneijder we always wanted.

You do just get that feeling at the moment that when he's on the pitch he's going to score and/or assist and thats a very rare attribute in football.

Should have had 2 goals and an assist if our forwards had their heads screwed on.

His timing of his runs and his desire/stamina to get up there is Lampard-like. Fantastic baller.

Oh and shhhh'ing Guardiola has cemented himself as a legend already.

The last must be over the moon right now. He finally gets his big money move to one of the world's biggest clubs and he's already being regarded as the catalyst for the clubs renaissance. He's playing incredibly well and the team is flying. What must he have felt when he had an absolutely electric OT chanting his name as he left the pitch? United know how to look after their legends and he's fast becoming one.

Every club in the world looks right stupid for not signing him in the summer now (ourselves included)

Christ can you imagine if Spurs had signed him? :nervous:
