It’s actually 34 goal involvements in just under 31 games, not 35, if you calculate it by minutes played instead of simply appearances made. Unreal player.

And people are downplaying those stats and just deriding him as a stats player. He's scoring and assisting goals at a rate we did not expect and that is benefting the team. Not only that, it proves how good a player he actually is that, he can do that not just in Portugal, in a lower quality league, then to do it again at Manchester United in the hardest league in Europe. You lot are just mental.

Eh sry about Rojo lads. Even so Ronaldo, Nani and Bruno Fernandes make up for it. Next in line should be Pedro Gonçalves (Pote)... Ehh forget I mentioned him. Let us have him for a while.
I actually quite liked Rojo to be honest.. he seemed like a fun squad player to have, in a mad way... just unfortunate he arrived at a time when pretty much all our defenders were equally mad. You can have one Rojo, Baily or Jones in a squad, but not 3!

As for Bruno... WHY was no one else in for him? He genuinely seems like some surprise world class PES regen, and has taken to PL/CL football like a natural pro... is he just a late bloomer?.. Or has the football world been sleeping on him?

Ronaldo and Nani were very hyped youth prospects... Fernandes seems to have come out of nowhere fully formed! (To the layman)

“Midfielder? He plays up front! He’s had a fantastic impact, and you just see how it breeds confidence and it gives other players confidence around him. We know, at any moment, he can create a chance for anyone, so it’s for the rest of them to make movements, runs in behind, clever movements, because he’ll find you.”, Ole.

Seemed like Bruno is instructed to take risks as much as he wants in games.

I mean, it would be foolish to not have him do it. Unless you are LVG, of course.

He is looking so good I'm worried Barca or real might want him and with how ultra competitive he is he may want to go since i don't think we match his ambitions.

I hope once the fans are back we can show him how much we all love him.

Wish he was the captain but we can't take it off Harry now...

No United signing has provided as much influence and leadership on the team since Eric Cantona just a pity the side Bruno is playing on isn't surrounded by many other leaders and very consistent performers as was the case in the early 90s.

Surely, RVP? Cantona was one, then RVP, and finally Bruno.

Probably he is not as flashy and agile like stereotypical Portuguese mavericks.

Ridiculous player. Exciting next couple of years ahead if we strengthen on the flanks and behind him in midfield.

I really like how he tries to involve the others and specially Cavani. You can clearly he wants him to score whenever possible. He's unreal to me, like a dream signing. I would never have hoped for similar performances so soon after his arrival, he's a fairly new player all things considered.

He's earned it, this kinda freedom and trust come you've proven yourself over time. He's our MVP

Horrible is ofcourse an overreaction but yea his passing isn't as consistent as his contemporaries. Not to say he's a poor AM though as he still contributes more than them in terms of goals rather than assists.

He is a horrible passer.

Horrible is a strong word. He does need to striker a better balance between risk and reward, not to mention consistency of execution... some will say his stats justify his low passing % but guys like KDB prove you can hit good numbers whilst remaining above 80 in passing accuracy thus help the team keep the ball and not lose anything in terms of potency.

Perhaps at United due to us not being the most cohesive ball playing side he feels more idgaf in possession and just over does the killer passing. For Portugal he averages 80% passing accuracy v 73% at United.

Trequarista?
Closer to that. Anything but a midfielder in my opinion. He is capable of playing in midfield, but he is not anywhere as effective there. I know he is everyone's darling right now, and rightly so, but if I want a playmaker in midfield, there's many midfielders I'd take ahead of him.

I feel much more comfortable when he is in, at the edge of, or around the opposition's box. When he drops, he doesn't look like the same player. He looks like a fish out of water at times in midfield.

Solskjaer probably recognizes that too seeing how high he plays. Sometimes his average position is even further forward than the wingers and the central striker. I'd say he is every inch a forward as much as Martial and Rashford, just that he is more effective than they are.

Did he gave pen to Rashford or Rashford asked for it? At first look it seems to me that he took the ball to shoot that pen

This isnt true. His average position is literally all over the pitch

Its the whole point of the double pivot in an attacking sense. He has the freedom to go drift anywhere and is the reason why he is so difficult to pick up.
Its not even that hard to spot. Its why his pass percentage is so low. He is constantly trying to play the through balls to the forward line from deep positions and is the attacking link from Fred and Scott to the attackers.
If he played as high as you think he would constantly be isolated since our other midfielders arent very good in the final third hence our performances pre Bruno. Our midfield would also constantly be overrun against the 3 man midfields that literally everyone plays these days.
Playing Bruno high up would be tactical suicide. Nobody plays with a 2 for good reason.

Fernandes is a peculiar case. He didn't come from any of the big 3 academies and he also went very young to Italy and gained valuable experience in a better league before coming back to Portugal to a top club.

He was kinda unknown comparing to the other top prospects from big clubs that are more hyped. He had some games in the Portugal U21but that was it. In the beginning of his Sporting stint he was actually coming from the bench because we had bigger and established players in our midfield but he was so good that Jorge Jesus, although he's stubborn, had no choice but to put him on the team.

We knew that sooner or later he would go to a top club but he was loyal to Sporting and never started any problems to leave. He was actually one of the few after the academy turmoil to come back. He was patient, waited for his chance and was rewarded.

Also helps that he doesn't have a cnut of an agent like Mendes.

Doubling down on the nonsense. Impressive.

He could easily match our other midfielders passing accuracy if he played the same safe passing as them. But they have no chance of matching his penetrative passing if they tried.

He is constantly trying to poke holes in the opposition defence and it leads to a lot of chances for us.

I will concede that sometimes he can calm it in certain situations, but that game management will improve as he grows as a player.

See this is why I hate this place, go look at any thread regarding a Chelsea player and their fans are creaming themselves over all their players saying they're this and they're that and then there's ours going out of their way to shit on not only our best player but arguably the best player in the league

I love him

What a guy

I'm delighted with Bruno, but truth is we're currently too reliant on him. That's never a good thing. If he loses his form, has a bad day, got nullified or worse, playing too much and get injured then we're basically fecked.

I really hope we can get a new source of creativity and goals this Jan. A decent RW who could dribble, pass, cross and score would be very welcomed I think.

We've seen him loose his form though and he still contributes that's what makes him world class. Injuries are of course a worry though

It's nothing to do with penetrative passing. He is loose and careless with his passing. Even when he is playing the safe passes, he doesn't do it anywhere near good enough.

Probably better for me to stop here before someone whips out the 'are you even a Man Utd fan' card.
