Bruno announced as new Manchester United captain

Shanco does seem a bit of a twat isn't he? what twist my nickers with him is not being willing enough to do the hard yard in or out of possession, then still has the nerves to mumble rubbish out of his mouth when being corrected by someone like Bruno who seems willing to do anything to win a football matches at our club.
Yeah he rubs me the wrong way does Sancho. Wouldn't mind if he's sold and we bring in someone who's more energetic on the ball. Would also free up the wage bill a bit.

Honestly, he was the only choice.

I hope my boy Rashford is the vice captain. I think Casemiro and Varane are fantastic players, and Licha’s mentality is infectious but they have been here for around 2 minutes.

My preferred order would be:

Bruno (c)
Rashford (vc)
Varane
Casemiro
Lisandro/Shaw
I think you have that list nailed.
Would love to see Rashford as captain one day.

This decision will turn out to be synonymous with our downfall.
Now we will keep playing him over and over again despite him beingso Incredibly wasteful and crap.

Why did he play 99 minutes today?

That was his worst ever game for United

His passing % must be in the 20’s

At the very least, he shouldn’t be the focal point of the team and the only creative outlet. Let alone a player who will start and play every match.

We are way to relient on him delivering special moments for us. But he isn’t someone who picks up his team, when we are bad. He is doing the opposite because of his extremely risky way of playing.

With a player as volatile and extreme as this guy, you have two very obvious options.
1. You play to his strengths, with the idea being his strengths outweigh his weaknesses (no.10 to do all the crazy high risk high reward shit); or
2. You move to a more possessive retention system and take him out of the team entirely.

The gaffer has done neither of the 2 and instead has decided to play him in a 3 beside Christian Eriksen or Mason Mount. Insane behaviour.

If Roy Keane performed like that second half at any point in his career he'd have probably topped himself.

Comparing captains across all rival teams

this dude is no odegaard or de bruyne.

passing is so erratic.
turnover stats is so erratic.
hollywood balls is a hit or miss many times.

sulks and whines when the going gets tough.

from maguire to him, the leadership problem remains the same.

how will the team be inspired when they need someone to stand up ?

It's so incredible. We wouldn't stop laughing if this was at Liverpool for example.

Team huddle on point, just like banter era Arsenal.
He's a banter captain. Crazy decision.

Spot on.

It just pains me to think about all the great captains that have graced our club and pulled us out of the shit like a leader should do.. Robbo, Keane and the like never knew when they were beaten..A far cry indeed

The compromise will be what we saw in the second half — shifting him out of position to try and somewhat salvage a very imbalanced midfield.
We'll be doing a lot of that this season i imagine. ETH has only compounded the issue by getting in Mount and getting rid of a ball winner in Fred.

I used to think his high risk, high reward potential was worth it.
But even his low reward choices are high risk. The number of times he loses possession even when trying simple passes is shocking - and this prevents us having any defined style of play.

Him having the armband is similar to when Maguire had it and rendered him unstoppable.

He can pull off extraordinary passes but fecks up simple stuff. Way too inconsistent

Can’t believe he got booked for talking to the ref, not long after Bissouma ranted at the ref and got nothing

Why did he play 99 minutes today?
Because he’s spectacular as opposed to efficient. Our fan base can’t comprehend how someone who is very often inefficient for 90 minutes is long term detrimental to the team when he has very good stats and will score great goals and occasionally make great passes. They look at the numbers, they remember the goals or the pass last week and Bruno can’t possibly be a problem.

Gotta be a chance Bruno gets a ban after those post match comments, right? Can’t see how that flies with them clamping down on perceived disrespect to officials.

He’s played virtually every single game since he’s arrived. Becoming captain isn’t going to make it any different.
