Television Brooklyn Nine Nine

Great episode. Jakes reactions to H&S were good too.

Hopefully we see more of Kelly and Holt feuding (and it becomes like Wuntch)

"I have find my phone set up to track you. What? I do that for all my friends."

"... show me"

"There's no time!"

I love Boyle

Plot didn't make sense.

Brandon got suspended after the someone 'tattled'. But the chronology doesn't work.

Why would he get suspended the day before ditching class and stealing a school van? You don't get punished for something you haven't done.

And if Brandon got suspended in 3rd period, why is he walking past Jake in the hallway?

Plot holes like this are why Brooklyn 99 will never be in the same league as The Wire or Breaking Bad.

is this a serious post

EDIT: I've decided it's not.

So I've rinsed this the last few weeks as easy background viewing. If it was a bit less PG and filmed in a slightly grittier manner it could be up there with the classics I reckon. It is very good for fun, easy viewing though. Really consistent. I'm halfway through season 5 now.

I've found this season a bit disappointing given their usual standards.

It's been alright, but the serious learning moments are really jarring given that they've never gone in for that kind of thing in the show before this new series.

I'm an adherent to the Seinfeld rule: No hugging, no learning.

Anybody else think the show has been a let down this season? I usually don't mind the show discussing politics and social norms, but recently I feel they've been feeling a bit too shoehorned into the episodes.

Also the general quality seem to have gone down a bit, I think. Like two episodes ago, that Amy and Terry competing with each other, taking colleagues on lunch, was one of the worst things I've ever seen in B99. I fast forward through that segment , and it was the first time I've ever done it, even even I was disappointed before. And I've stopped watching since.

Also, the characters feel like they've become the caricatures of their former self. It just isn't the same or better. I've stopped watching since the aforementioned Amy vs Terry episode. May be I'll check it out after the season has been over.

Scully's "It is free food - life always finds a way" line during the lunch wars is the highlight of the season. Pissed myself laughing at that, his delivery was just perfect.

Yeah, just two or three good episodes at best this season.

I kept saying to my gf that Parks and Rec was lightyears better than this. We're now on Season 6 of P&R and she says it's ruined B99 for her

To be fair Parks and Rec is light years ahead of every other comedy show

P&R is in a league of its own to be fair.

I was just comparing Michael Schur shows really. They both have a lot of similarities, one just does it a lot better.

Straight talking serious boss - Ron/Holt
Enthusiastic lead who is actually good at what they do - Leslie/Jake
Angry Latino - April/Rosa
Entrepreneur - Tom/Gina
Butt of the jokes - Jerry/Hitchcock & Scully

Parks and Rec was an absolutely brilliant show, of all the sort of comedy/sitcoms I’ve watched I think it’s easily my favourite.

Yea very true, and I do love B99 but as you say P&R is much better.

I really enjoy B99 and Parks and Rec as much as each other. One is about cops the other politics, so it doesn’t have to be one or the other. One thing about Parks and Rec that annoys me is the flat out bullying of Jerry.

Hitchcock and Scully are called out on their incompetence, laziness and gluttony and for good reason. Jerry by all accounts is a good, kind man and a good employee. Just doesn’t fit the narrative of the show at all

Yeah, I agree some of this season's episode have been a little downhill. I am not sure what has changed or why they have looked to change their style or if they have ran out of material.

Despite that, I still love this show. Veep similar to this has also gone a little stale for me (Largely because real life politics has become far more interesting), but they are still two of the best comedies available now.
