Brentan Rodgers

*sigh* Liverpool supporters will defend Rodgers over any old shit.

Again if you don't want to discuss transfers (and technically that's the wrong term but hey you said it)...then you say "Sorry I can't talk about other club's players" or something to that effect.

He lied and made her out to be clueless. He was a knob. End of fecking story.
This is drama queen crap you expect to see on rawk. It's really not a big deal. The fault lies with the interviewer not Rodgers. Any reporter should know that you might be getting a unpleasant response when you ask about uncompleted transfers and its best to not ask as 9/10 you are going to get dismissed.

"Technically wrong term"....come on :boring:

That's because they both have something he doesn't: credibility.
Yes its well known that Rodgers is a dodgy manager and a bit of a weird person but criticising him over silly stuff like the interview is just petty

Why am I defending Rodgers...time for a shower

I don't even dislike Rodgers that much, but the guy brings it on himself. The inspirational quotes, the names in the envelop, the condescension after they finished second and we finished seventh, etc. He makes you want to laugh at him whereas with other managers you probably wouldn't care.

You're on a Manc board so you have to learn to just deal with this stuff.

I know and I do - but it helps me feel better if I respond to things now & again

Forget the shower, keep it up - you doing great!
Your first line just about sums it up.

Rodgers actually comes across as a decent guy.

He is awkward at times...not articulating his thoughts well.
He is also a decent manager. Obviously not as experienced as some others. But he is not afraid to experiment...and thus gets it wrong sometimes.

I think he will do well for them.

I've laughed at him for all that stuff. But people are now forcing the laughter with the interview stuff. Rodgers provides enough ammunition to laugh at him for genuine reasons so why go to rawk level of criticism

Might expect it. He's still a dick for doing it. So was Ferguson when he did it. So is Mourinho when he does it. I do fundamentally disagree that she did anything wrong and it's irrelevant who the manager is. It was awkward and he could do with a bit of fecking humility to be honest.

Or are we treating Rodgers differently? It was a video posted in this thread and I had my say. Some disagreed. I agree, it's not a big deal and why you think it is just because I spent 60 seconds typing out a response is beyond me.

So are you saying Rodgers cannot be a bit abrupt with the media/journalists - but Ferguson and Mourinho can?

What?

Tbf, they get away with it because they're successful and hugely respected. That might not be particularly fair, but it's the way it is.

Rodgers is a nobody who has achieved nothing in the game.

Given his ego, he probably thought to himself 'I was a bit like Fergie there'.

Ok fair enough. I wouldn't consider someone to be a knob for responding in that way but that's just down to individual opinion. I think the woman was a bit stupid to try and get an answer the second time when she had already been shot down though

That's a load of crap. Journos should be treated like shit because most of them are.

I do actually agree with that.

I loved the contempt Fergie had for the press. Mourinho has carried that on but is even more arsey.

But it's fair to say that Mourinho wouldn't get away with being an arsehole all the time if he didn't have the success to back himself up.

As a club, you tolerate his behaviour because he wins.

That's exactly it. Rodger's self-regard outstrips his worth at this point. Win a title or two and you can be up there with the arsiest. Until then, stop putting on Fergie and Mourinho costumes, you're making yourself a laughing stock. The key to all of this is in the name he's been given in the thread title. It's wonderful David Brent stuff, and far from bothering me (or most of his critics, I'm sure), it's hilarious.

Oh shut up...Ferguson was a cnut to the press in the 80's when he'd won feck-all with Man Utd. Was that cringey?

I didn't "fail to see" the irony, but the extra layer of irony you laughably failed to see yourself is that this is a United website. And we don't like your club or your insufferable manager. What's hard to understand about that?
At the risk of this becoming an all out irony-off I think we should leave it at that...

what utter nonsense. Practically every conference a manger gives this time of year is batting off questions about rumoured signings

And most of the time it is dismissed by the managers? What is your point. He gave a stern response back as he didn't want to discuss it...not a big deal

Nobody cared about Jockball then and nobody cares now.

Oi, Scottish football has many redeeming qualities. You can get a pie and a cup of tea for under £3 and... and... okay, fine, jockball is sucks.

He's favourite with most bookies to be the first PL manager to get the sack. I suppose with last season, their opening fixtures and the money he's spent it's hardly surprising.

Sacked by October. I'd say a very good chance....

Would be sad if that happened. Just another interesting character thrown out with the trash. If nothing else, he makes things interesting, like Mou. Would've been interesting to have gotten the Mou puppet talk to a Brentan puppet.

Oh you.

I don't know where to begin in disagreeing with this. Rodgers is not interesting - the management-speak he is famous for is him going out of his way to be uninteresting.

Mourinho isn't exactly interesting either, except when he throws a strop, but that's more funny in a pathetic kind of way than interesting.

Rodgers is like...a big jam doughnut with cream on the top.

I'd say he's more like a dose of clap.

Stevie G will be the next LFC manager. Carra as assistant and Glen Johnson as doorman.

You heard it here first.

No way he would get the doorman job, he would leave it wide open all the time just like he used to on the right side of our defence.

Maybe he has one in the middle of nowhere he can send Borini.
