Brentan Rodgers

You don't discuss transfers FULL STOP. You discuss signings. Benteke hasn't signed.

*sigh* Liverpool supporters will defend Rodgers over any old shit.

Again if you don't want to discuss transfers (and technically that's the wrong term but hey you said it)...then you say "Sorry I can't talk about other club's players" or something to that effect.

He lied and made her out to be clueless. He was a knob. End of fecking story.

They are in Aus on a promotional trip, Its brand building, and he acts like a dick on live TV. Way to build a brand 'Brentan is a bit of an unlikeable arse isn't he'.

Yes, maureen and Fergie have been absolute bastards to journalists at press conferences. They are responsible for the questions they ask, and are the ones who frequently print lies about the managers and teams in the papers, they often deserve it, and it goes with the terratory of print media, its not a one way street.

Guess what, she isnt a Journalist, she doesn't even get to decide the questions, they come from the voice at the other end of her earpiece. Being anything other than civil to her is just being a complete dick.

As big a twat as Rodgers is, I prefer his blunt approach over our current "Secret striker, oh just you wait and see" fecking nonsense.

"You can say 'deal' right now and walk away with your very own Benteke to take home with you tonight, or you can trade it all in for what's in the mystery box. WhichmayormaynotincludeCavani".

*sigh* nothing to see here yet Rodgers' words are turned into the most negative of interpretations by a United fan.

Find something worth getting sanctimonious about - this isn't that.

Any stick to beat Rodgers with. Him nearly winning the league two years ago has gotten right under Utd fans' skins, they just don't realise (or don't want to admit) how much. Personally I'd be more worried about Rodgers if Utd fans actually liked him (like they did Woy).
 good god! There's a reason KRAP is spread around by the United community you know.

*correction* Liverpool fan's hero racist 'nearly' won you the league and not Rodgers... this was clearly exposed the season before and again last season of course. Gerard's slip, the books written about coming second, Suarez's breakdown at Crystanbul...What are you on about? That was entertainment of the highest for us. Me and many others haven't laughed that much in years! Keep trying la

How on earth do you see "sanctimonious" in what Minimalist said? Perhaps because sanctimony is your default, so you kneejerk and see it in everyone else? My god, Liverpool fans are insufferable. Listen, it's not Rodgers's words, it's everything about the man. How do you not understand that, having presumably read enough of this thread to get the overall gist that he's seen as a smug, self-regarding, unintentionally comical little man who most United fans think isn't quite up to the job despite a few acknowledged strengths. You pretending our amusement is entirely based on one thing he's said on a tour of Australia is reaching almost ludicrous levels of disingenuousness.

Thanks for drawing broader (inaccurate) conclusions from what I said within your broader character assassination of the manager of a team you dislike while failing to see the irony in your own one-eyed view.

Wov, Liverpool fans are a bit touchy in this thread.
Cue touch reply...

But seriously, it's hardly touchy to reply to a post that's portrayed you inaccurately while also pushing the discussion forward. It's a forum for different views, is all.

It was a standard response. AW and Ferguson have done as much over the years. Seems to me he got caught unawares by the woman and it came out more curt than he meant it.

Have a word with yourselves if this is what you're reduced to laughing at him about. He provides enough fodder otherwise.

We laugh at the other stuff too!

Looked like she caught him in a bad mood, either that or the transfer committee haven't told him they're signing Benteke yet!

How dare you talk sense on this issue!

Watching Brendo feels like being rolled head first down the uncanny valley in a tire by Hoggle from Labyrinth and colliding with the Singing Ringing Tree at the bottom. He's what the Bogeyman uses to frighten his kids in to good behaviour.

This is a make or break season for Rodgers. By which I mean a test of his rhetorical skills in TV interviews.

What are you on about? His interviews are outstanding.

Brendo? Hoggle? and the what tree?

You surely know almost everyone on here is not really "appalled" at that. Most on here are just happy he has given us another opportunity to criticize him and rule up Liverpool fans (in this case, a gooner as well it seems :p)

"Outstanding"? They are certainly going to be must watch television as he tries to explain his second mega-fail summer transfer window splurge. The guy has a visionary-like self belief, which would make him memorable to listen to if you win. But sounds close to madness or comedy if he keeps it up when you lose. Outstanding is pushing it, too. He's hardly Clough or Mourinho.

You missed my point. Sorry :wenger:

Well it's just football banter most of the time. Though as yet as far as I am aware he hasn't got anyone's name wrong in a TV interview what was it 'Mike Smalling'?

 That was funny in all honesty. However, Rodgers and his reading of "mum's letters" really trumps anything LVG can do ;)

Rodgers is like a Mueck sculpture brought to life by Svankmajer. Scary and odd and should be cherished for his uniqueness.

Looks like an overly inbred bulldog puppy to me.

Rodgers is like...a big jam doughnut with cream on the top.

Comedy gold. As were the spending sprees with the Torres, Suarez money. It's laugh a minute up the East Lancs Rd, I can't wait for the next episode. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fans either

I didn't "fail to see" the irony, but the extra layer of irony you laughably failed to see yourself is that this is a United website. And we don't like your club or your insufferable manager. What's hard to understand about that?

Also, this is a thread about Brentan Rodgers, not a thread about a single comment he made while on tour in Oz. Again, why are Liverpool fans missing something this obvious? That we're laughing at him in context with everything else about him on a thread named after him! Like I said, it takes disingenuousness to whole new levels to avoid this fact.

I don't see a problem with how he replied to the Benteke question. The woman should have know that you shouldn't bring up transfer business which has yet to be completed as managers rarely discuss it.

If Van Gaal or Frogie had responded like that no one would care or criticise.
