Carragher hasnt tweeted his condolences to Rio today, disrespectful or no big deal?
This annoys me when people moan about stuff like that. If your friend has a tragic grievance, you send your best wishes in person or over the phone, not social media.

I'm sure he has sent his condolences in private.

I love how so many of them are blaming us. First of all most Utd fans want Rodgers to stay with them, secondly rival fans are not going to pay good money for a plane and banner ffs, not unless there was a LOT of them behind it..

They live in a complete bubble.

I think there's a possibility he'll be sacked unfortunately. Hope they don't get Klopp, I'd welcome Rafa.

Fans complain about ticket prices .But can afford to go out and waste money on this.

Banner behind plane circling Anfield with Rodgers out Rafa in message. Not believed to be #LFC fans behind it

Idiots.
Someone should link him to the Twitter page of the fans taking credit for it!

Wouldn't dispute that he's a good player for a mid table side, but his technique is mediocre for a team like Liverpool.

Considering in the last five seasons Liverpool finished 2nd 7th 8th 6th and 7th and could very well end up on 7th again this season surely a mid table club is exactly what you are?

How is not commenting on something that doesn't actually have anything to do with him disrespectful? Do you tweet the families of every person who dies of cancer? Bizarre.

Just a few minutes before kick-off a plane flew over Anfield trailing the banner 'Rodgers out, Rafa in', in reference to former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

"I thought it was Rafa's agent," joked Rodgers

No doubt it will have been a manc who bought a season ticket so as to avert suspicion.

How deep does the rabbit hole go?

Actually it was a manc who came up with the idea in the late 70s. He brought up sleeper-children that would one day be triggered by the code words "Death by Football". They instantly quit their jobs and moved to Scouseville where they blended in until their big day came.

Rodgers denies Depay interest

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has denied the club were ever in for Memphis Depay, despite PSV Eindhoven stating the contrary on Friday.

http://www.football365.com/news/21554/9840984/Rodgers-We-Never-Wanted-To-Sign-Depay...

We go again
So they have a player who wants out, a potential to be a good player but not great and two not good enough wingers. Would you imagine LVG saying last year that we are well stocked on the wing with Nani, Valencia, Young and Januzaj (tbf this four are a lot better than Liverpool four wingers).

How can the press say we "missed out" on Mephis Depay? I turned him down Its not fair to let the lad play second fiddle to Ibe & Marković

To be fair, from an objective standpoint - that's the only thing a manager in Rodgers' position could have said. Being candid and stating that Memphis was a major target they failed to land would've sent all the wrong messages about the current status of Liverpool.

Anyway, almost everything about this transfer is eerily similar to the Thiago saga from 2013. Memphis was always going to join United because of the close personal/ professional relationship with Van Gaal. It was only a matter of the club lodging an official bid for his services. Rodgers and co. had no chance from the beginning, contrary to what their fans were led to believe by the media and Liverpool's PR department.

It's the worst thing he could possibly have said, because it makes him look like both a loser AND a liar. The correct statement would have been that Liverpool watch a lot of potential transfer targets, and that he's confident the club will bring in the players that will strengthen the team correctly for next season.

You know me in terms of speculation on players. The kid is a very talented player of course but I wouldn’t like to confirm either way

He could yes or no back then. Now when he signed for us,he gave 100% no...

Nah. Rodgers would be construed as a loser and a liar irrespective of what he said. There is no right or wrong statement here, it's all based on arbitrary subjective opinion (in this case yours). If he'd said that Liverpool are watching other potential targets - one might still argue that he's intentionally skirting the Memphis issue when asked a direct question, and displaying a sense of faux bravado by highlighting the confidence in their transfer plans.

IMO it was standard manager speak by Brandan. They lie through their teeth all the time and very rarely should you take their transfer opinions on face value.

eg. Mourinho denying interest in Cuardado and insisting Schurrle was part of the plans at Chelsea (Jan 2015).

You can lie through your teeth without making yourself look like an idiot while doing it. I deliberately wasn't giving any opinion, just giving a standard media response that deals with the question without actually saying anything at all. That's what sensible people in the public gaze do when they're asked questions they can't openly answer without looking foolish. Brentan seems incapable of learning this skill.

eg. Mourinho denying interest in Cuardado and insisting Schurrle was part of the plans at Chelsea (Jan 2015).

Schurrle was supposedly quite a last minute departure, although to be fair with Mourinho he quite often breaks normal media rules on how to handle the press. He gets away with it, because he's got the charisma and intelligence to deflect criticism or change the narrative to suit him. It's fairly common to come away from watching a Mourinho interview rolling your eyes and not believing a word you just heard, but usually also laughing at the front of the guy. With Brentan its usually laughing at how much of a prat he just made himself look.

That's the thing though. Because of Brendan's track record, he will come across as a prat regardless of he says in the pressers. He could've said the exact opposite of what he did wrt Memphis and still be considered an idiot, so the content doesn't really make a difference. Being a charismatic winner (Fergie or Mourinho) affords you the luxury of getting away with things others won't (Rodgers) or because of the underlying narrative.

I don't really agree. Look at Wenger for instance, spent 10 years winning feck all, but very, very rarely actually looks like a fool (apart from when he's trying to open his coat ). There's plenty of other examples all across the league of managers with much worse records, who've never won anything yet still don't look actually foolish.

Those managers aren't in the media glare like Brendan is, as the (possibly expendable) under-performing manager of Liverpool (who are still one of the biggest stories in English football). eg. Moyes was a well respected media darling at Everton. Fast forward 8 months into the United tenure, and the man who was once considered an unblemished knight was the butt of all sorts of ridicule. Being a winner is relative and depends on the profile of the club, which is why a lot of managers get an easy ride.

As a parallel, Brendan was the toast of the Premier League this time last season, and could seemingly do no wrong, even though he had the same douchebag personality he does now. Which kind of highlights the power of hysteria or sensationalist media narrative and their myopic, ever changing perspectives, especially when it comes to the most popular clubs in the league. As for Wenger, the opinions regarding him been very positive as of late. But there was a lot of hyperbolic criticism in the pre FA Cup winning period.

So true
