Don't really see anything special about this lad. Seems to be a good athlete but an average enough footballer.

Thankfully the last couple of posts have pointed out that this is easily remedied by practice. Why didn't anybody think of it sooner? To think of all the average players who could have been great if they had only had the foresight to practice. If I was 10 years younger I might have had a chance myself

Off course you have to put this in to context. It's not about going from average to worldclass, your DNA and talent sets your limitations. But at this level only the smallest improvement can make the difference.

Another way to look at it is to compare the first touch of Wayne Rooney on and off form. On his bad days it's sometimes horrible, IMO probably a combination of physical insecurity and poor timing. Then a couple of days later he looks like a different player. Tell me otherwise what create this differences if not practice who improves your timing?

TBF I find the critics regarding Embolo's technique a little bit over exaggerated.

Mainly because Rooney is truly awful as a no.10?

Yes, and Embolo is untried at this level.

Rooney needs to be benched or even better sold, and Embolo eased in, sure Mourinho is lining someone else up for the right wing as well as this lad, hope so anyway.

Not just that but I don't think Embolo is ready to be a starter for us, we should be blooding in young players gradually, even Martial could do with more rotation this season IMO.

I agree if we do sign this lad I suspect something like

Embolo-------Rooney-------Martial
----------------Zlatan----------------
Doesn't Mourinho usually like one "winger" to be defensive?! Neither Martial nor Embolo strike me as that

Embolo will track back. Defensive probably isn't a strong part to his game but he defiantly will come back and help. And also we have Rooney who likes to get stuck in and is drawn to the ball so I don't see this being a real problem.

I think he wants wingers with speed who have the pace to track back. Mata is a liability in that regard.
Kind of. I read his interview with Gary Neville and he spoke about the issues he had with Hazard's work rate that they were working on at the time. He doesn't want to them to always track back, he wants his wingers to be defensively aware and work for the team.

I think he said something along the lines of if the fullback is in a good position and there's cover from his centre back and defensive mid then the winger is not required to go back for the sake of it. Rather he should be an outlet. He wants teamwork basically. It's actually one of Martial's growing list of strengths, he tracked back and made important tackles and interceptions a few times over last season.

Embolo should be getting minutes from the bench in the first season, which means we need another RW in any case.

"Bases his game on one of his heroes Balotelli"

Surely a joke, the laziest, most unprofessional, biggest waste of talent around is his inspiration?

According to Kicker:
- Leipzig will talk with Basel again this week......a transfer could happen in the next days
- Embolo's next wish destination is still the Bundesliga
- Basel wants €25m for him.....Leipzig's latest offer was €20m
- Nothing about a interest from Manchester United or other clubs

I think 22 pages for nothing :)

Makes sense. If we were actually interested, I see no reason why we didn't wrap it up before the euros

But we didn't tie up Ibra before the Euro's either, doesn't mean we aren't still interested in him.

If he comes here then he's obviously ready, if he doesn't then he must need a few more years to develop.

Quite glad if we're not in for him. We need a right winger ready to come straight into the side, which I don't think he is.

Noo, 22 pages and dozen of posts of muppetry wasted. All for nothing :(

Kicker are the reliable ones, aren't they?

LvG knows about managing football team than anyone in here. So is Moyes. But many here thoughts they were incapable buffoon of managers.

We are here for discussion, and i don't think United scouring here reading opinions about their potential buy.

So let us discuss what we want to discuss, without resort to this kind of statement, though. It's so much fun. Don't you think so?

I'm not criticize any of the POSTER rather POSTS.

What I'm trying to say is that some posts in here are outright playing him down as someone that is very average and will not be anymore than that. Especially with the notion of only watching him play for 30 min on one of the biggest tournament in the world and a few of YouTube clips.

So why don't we for once enjoy what will pan out in the summer and try to leave those buying decision to the scout and manager.

Why not both?

I can't see him getting many games here in all honesty, just don't think he's at the required level yet. I haven't seen him much so obviously might well be wrong, but that's the impression I get from the videos I've seen. He'd be better off moving somewhere he's guaranteed lots of games, imo.

:(. Aah well then. Shame. Had my hopes up. I still can't see them doing too much business during the Euros though.

With Ibra, it's apparently to do with him getting loyalty bonuses from PSG, beyond a certain date.

Bundesliga always makes sense for Basel players and, again, would hate to see a young talent like Embolo get broken by Mou

He's a humble and almost shy person who works hard and stayed on the ground despite the hype.
Swiss press and fans love him mainly because of his attitude, on and off the pitch. Questioned about the Wolfsburg transfer fees in winter, he said "I'm not worth 25M £".

He's also a great talent of course, that has all the tools but how many have pointet out, he's not there yet.
Look at Depay, he was far more established in a similar league, and look how that turned out.
You can't expect him to have the same impact as Martial, he'll be a talented and capable squad player like Fosu-Mensah or Rashford. Always ready for EL and Cup, but you don't start into a season expecting 30+ league games from them.
You can't have too much of those to be fair, but for his own progress, I assume Leipzig is a better step to make

Moving to Leipzig is definitely better for him. Much more game time, less media frenzy, less pressure etc enabling him to develop normally. Problem is, I want to see him at United and if he settles down at Leipzig and fulfils his potential, a move to Spain or Bayern is more likely. :(

Agent games then. Like I said about 10 pages back.

If you people paid attention to my posts, I'd save you all a lot of time

Maybe he's our fall back option incase Mkhitaryan moves to Arsenal? Could be too late by then mind, Leipzig seem set on signing him and I don't think the Werner signing has any impact on his one.

You were just guessing, and we can't take every guess on this site as gospel. That would be hilarious though
I also said City would sign both Laporte and Stones, about a month ago. 3 weeks before Sky reported their interest in both. Got Stam to Reading too a month ago. Told people about Rooney's 2 month injury before the news broke! If you had time to go back, you'd find it all.

I'm ahead of the game, pal ;-) Redcafe still hasn't discovered what a gift they have with my info!
