If true, then Basel will surely accept and it'd just be up to the player/family. I still don't like this sort of move for the kid as I'd prefer him to take a midlevel step rather than end up at such a massive club this soon...and especially because of Mou. Too many young players have been broken thanks to him
I think it is different for players he buys and wants himself, as opposed to academy players that are already there, or buys that are decided at board level (like at Chelsea.)
I think Mou are in 100% control of Manchester Uniteds transfers, something else would be silly tbf, and if he wants him I want him. Simple as.

This is pretty much my view as well. Its easy to spot a talented player, but not so easy to discern whether they have the work ethic and football IQ to take that talent to the next level. At some level, most of these transfers are a bit of a punt.
I think if true, the reported price is a good sign. If United are willing to blow Leipzig out of the water to that extent, the manager must REALLY think highly of him.
To be honest, if we can get Embolo, Bailly and Zlatan in for about £50m, that is a great start to the summer. Getting players in key areas for a good price, and that is before any sales, which could make it £15m net or so, maybe even less given some of the reported players we are willing to sell.
That would certainly leave a sizeable amount to go after a real superstar I think, which I believe we need.

1. He looks VERY raw. Couldn't control a ball in the last game and doesn't seem to have much coordination.
2. It's the type of signing that COULD cement our position outside the CL spots. City, Chelsea and potentially Arsenal will buy TOP quality this summer. We need to be getting three or four of the 200,000 pounds a week players. More 75-125,000 a week players are not required.
3. He doesn't solve any problems in the team. He's not really a right winger or a striker. We need quality starting players immediately.

Assuming we get those 2. Embolo would be 1st choice back up.
The core of his first Chelsea team was mostly composed of players 24 years old and under. He gave a loose cannon like Balotelli 70 apps over two years, in a job where his biggest goal was to win the UCL. He pushed for the Varane signing. Thing with Jose is, if you're healthy, good enough and contribute to the team on defense, you'll play.
Granted that Jose has never produced a Cristiano like Ferguson did, which top caliber in this day and age can do that anyway?
Going back to Embolo, he's great but from what I've seen (which is admittedly limited), he seems relentless to the point of recklessness. This could go either way in the PL. I believe the ideal situation for him would be to sign Mkhi as well, which will enable Jose to ease Embolo in to the lineup rather than depend on him from the get go. Starts in the LC, early FA Cup and Europa League rounds and maybe 5 starts + 15 sub appearances in the league should be good for him, as it would be unfair to expect him to do a Martial in his first year.
So we cough up 40m € for this lad, but offer just 25m € for Mkhitaryan. Should i laugh or cry?
Just negotiating, we will meet Dortmunds valuation of 35m euros ++ for Micky Targaryan sooner or later. I think he is seen as a vital cog in our title challenge, and we sure as hell value that over 10m euros or so.

Embolo will move anyway, last year or 10 years, no differences. Mkhitaryan wants out too, and i see him as an important player in an important position. Potential is worth nothing currently, we have already enough of that. We need proven class players for our first team, so hopefully we will coug up the money for Henrikh

Make no mistake, if Rashford is as comfortable as a wide right forward, or a right sided player in a 4-2-3-1 I by far prefer Rashford who is one of our own.
You shouldn't get swept away with transfer talk. Just let it happen and get ready for the season ahead.

I dont want Rashford on the wing. I want him to play only as a striker. Thats his best position. Thats where he is dangerous. Leave him up there instead of chopping and changing. Are the likes of Kane and Vardy played on the wing? Im sure they can play there too but will they be as effective there? If we cant give him games up top this season, then I prefer he leaves on loan in order to play every week.

With Zlatan seeming more and more likely I think he will mainly be a impact sub and league \ FA cup player and EL player this season, which should give him plenty of matches. Personally I am glad that someone with zero fecks given like Zlatan takes the #9 mantle and weathers the storm and pressure for Rashford for two years or so while he develops.
And no, I wouldn't loan him out since there will be plenty of matches for him to play in (Zlatan is 57 years old, and probably won't be too bothered by being benched for the EL matches), also he will get WC tutoring from Zlatan and Mourinho here, which he won't get at Bournemouth or the likes.

Here's the deal with all the young talents out there. We can't be sure if they would succeed or not as it's based on several factors such as Player's intent to keep succeeding, game time they get, rapo with the manager, personal life ect.. There is absolutely no way of knowing if a certain player will be a hit or a flop at a particular club, everything a punt . When you talk about young version of Ronaldo and Nani, talent wise both were on the same level but one went to become one of All time great and other is playing for Fenerbahce, difference between them is their constant will to succeed. Back to topic, €35m for him could look like too much now, but as a fact i know that Mourinho knows more than me or anyone here and will happily welcome Embolo if thats what manager sees fit. One thing that makes me feel good is that , Mou's definitely planning for the future with the purchases he's made and he will be allowed to make mistakes here unlike his previous clubs as long as the fans see progress. As far as Embolo goes he maybe the next Bebe or Ronaldo or someone in-between, it's all upto him.
