Breel Embolo | Signed for Schalke

Very raw potential but definitely not ready to sign for a club like United. Leipzig would be a better move for him at this time.

A threat again but Switzerland didn't really look for him enough

Still too early to really form an opinion one way or another

Was irritated by the way he was only walking back from offside positions when Switzerland were still attacking.

But either way, two substitute appearances nowhere near enough to make a decent judgement on him. If Mourinho goes for him, I'll trust that.

Thought he gave Switzerland a different option off the bench, he made some decent runs but his execution was pretty poor generally.

Was a little reminiscent of Memphis with those cinder block feet.

A week or two ago we were getting a bargain and one of the best youngsters in the world. 2 substitute appearebces later he's shit.

From what Ive seen so far off him he doesn't look as good as the hype surrounding him. Looked lazy when returning from offside positions and gave the ball away cheaply. He did make good runs off the ball but its not enough to justify the fee to join United.

Griezmann was a superstar until people watched the Champions League final and opening match for France, too.

thats what happens when you actually watch a player.....most of the people that wanted him didnt watch him or they just take a peek on youtube.
As for Embolo, never watched him before the tournament, first cameo was decent and this today was poor but it means nothing. Young player in his first tournament and literally his first steps on the big stage, most would look like Embolo and that doesnt mean he isnt talented enough.

I watched him against Albania and he was lively. People writing him off after one sub appearance aare just as bad as the ones who rate him based on youtube.

People have false expectations. He has always been extremly raw and needs a lot of training and forming. Its pure potential that we would be but no one who is ready to start for United in a while

Wasn't a great cameo at all, but still doesn't mean I don't want him at United. Better us than Leipzig.

Watched his cameo against Romania, have to say he was poor. This is the first time I watched him play and he looked no better than the youngsters we have.

Not saying we shouldn't sign him though, it's hard to judge a player playing for National team which is completely different from playing for a club.

I think we'll bring in a senior RW.

If we bring in Embolo, RW, Ibra as forwards I think we'll have a good balance to be honest.

Depay/Martial/Januzaj----Rooney/Ibra/Rashford/Embolo---RW/Rashford/Embolo

--------------------Rooney/Mata/New #10/Januzaj-------------------------

Will Keane I don't think will last under Mourinho. Fellaini and Young will probably be sold.

We'll have a senior player in every position - Rooney/Mata in #10, probably a RW, Ibra at #9ish and Martial making the left wing his own.

Rashford/Embolo/Januzaj bedded in with Depay future in question. Not bad.

I've seen nothing from him so far to suggest we should be buying him, he's been poor.

After 2 substitute appearances in his first major tournament it's very apparent he sucks and is no longer a promising 19 year old. Jesus.
International tournaments are nearly impossible to excel in. Every time, a tournament comes along, we expect all the big names to do well, but most of them fall well below their expectations, some even end up flopping badly. It's hardly a surprise that that him and many of the other "Youngsters to watch out for in the Euros 2016" players haven't excelled so far.

Babel, Mpenza, Lukaku, Sakho, Obi mikel, Micah Richards etc never had amazing potential to improve from what we saw when they first burst onto the scene. Playing at the highest level at a very young doesn't mean the player has amazing potential. It often means the attributes which are going to be key to them playing at the highest level are already in place and there is actually little scope for them to improve. Age is so often mistaken for potential and I don't see why, given how often we've seen that this isn't the case. I wouldn't get too excited about Embolo. We really aren't looking at the next Neymar here.

If he performs well in this tourny and/or the upcoming season, his value will double. Fortunately, our transfer committee is not based on public opinion from fan sites, so I'll put my faith in our scouts and Jose to make the right call. As fans we should be looking for hints of potential and not necessarily his immediate performances esp in a major tournament. Dont think anyone expected him to slot straight into the first team here anyways.

Yeah, that's true, as fans that's the best we can do, search for hints of potential. That's why I said, that he didn't have a good game today, but would still like him at our club. He's very raw and very inconsistent from what I've observed and I've maintained that throughout my posts in the thread. If he joins United, I'll be ecstatic, if he goes else where, I'll follow his progress and hope he develops well, regardless.

When did we last develop such a raw attacker? I'm concerned that if we signed him he'd just go the way of Zaha, Powell or Bebe.

If the only time these same people had ever seen Martial was this tournament they'd be writing him off as well

If i remember correctly Memphis had a pretty good World Cup. We all know how his first season went.

Thank you for informing us black people play football lol.

No he didn't.

He was average and didn't look anything special. The only good attacker Holland at the last World Cup was Robben.

Depay couldn't even get in the starting 11.

He looked good, attacked well and scored 2 goals one of which was a winner in a group game.

He didn't start because he was up against robben in his position and clearly he wasn't going to displace him.

Robben was playing as striker. Van Persie was poor. Oh and who set up his second goal?

Yeah one of them was against Australia when they already had qualified. He wasn't great as he couldn't get in a poor attack.

Take it no one watched Ronaldo yesterday?

According to the cafe, you're as good as your last game, right?

They were playing 3-5-2 and Memphis tended to replace Robben as the left forward, from memory. Didn't stick out to me as a must-buy at the time but did pretty well.

Part in parcel when you have 9 out of 10 who have never seen him and are getting their hype from this thread, Twitter, and YouTube, only to see him for the first time and not have the hype match the performance.

Robben played every minute of the last World Cup.

Agree he didn't stick out and that was my point.

Michael Owen also fits the profile and he's white. His game was all about pace and he never really progressed. In fact once he lost his pace, he was barely a Prem standard player. If you look at his game at 17/18, he never really had the potential to improve. He already knew how to use his pace.
