Break the Bank for Fabregas

Think United would be the only realistic buyers in England, still doubt they'd ever sell to us though. Definately worth bidding on (doesn't matter if that drives up Arsenal's windfall imo, they'll never spend big anyway).

Never know, he might be tempted.

He's really cement us as having the best set of players in england

He's a super player, but he'd cost far too much. Buying a player from a PL rival is practically impossible.

If we were going to do such a thing, personally I would go for Wilshere.

Would be the perfect replacement for Scholes. There's no chance of it happening though. His passing with our wingers and striker's movement would be:drool:

Stop pressing your noses up against the shop window you scabby norven urchins, you can't afford Wilshere let alone Fabregas.

But even some of those appearances have been with him half fit, yet Arsenal have been desperate, so he/the team have put him on the pitch.

This isn't just about Fabregas, I feel the same way about Rooney, both 24 and 25 respectively, yet been playing week in, week out in the PL since they were 16/17.

Will their bodies hold up until they are 30-32? Lot of mileage already on them....But in a fantasy world, where he would want to come here, Arsenal would want to sell him to us, and we could afford it...No doubt, we would love to have someone of his class at United.

I don't see why not with modern fitness techniques and rotation. Giggs started around the same age and has been playing regularly ever since. He went through some injury troubles in the middle of his career but got it figured out and doesn't look like slowing down.

If players can take care of their bodies and the way they're monitored nowadays, its difficult to avoid, starting early is no barrier to a long career.

Would absolutely love him, would be fantastic alongside Carrick in the formation we've been playing recently.

He'd suit us better than Barcelona imo.. surrounded by pace and mentally strong footballers/coaching staff would be the making of him. Personally think he'd be overwhelmed by a move to Barcelona.

Could turn him into a bigger cnut.

Become a bit injury prone the last few seasons....

since his first full season at Arsenal

Appearances
46
50
54
45

last 3 seasons
33
36
35*(maximum of 39, if he plays all 4 remaining matches)

Hamstring and Muscle problems almost every other week it seems like.

But putting all that aside, I know none of us expected Torres to leave Liverpool for Chelsea, but I simply can't see Fabregas leaving Arsenal for an English club.

We rotate our players all the time anyway. How many of our central midfielders play more than 35 games a season?

It's ridiculous to think he would sign for us when it's been pretty clear for years there's only one club he wants to leave Arsenal for. Would be nice, but obviously never going to happen.

You really think we would spend around 50m+ for him? If we can spend that kind of money, then I am sure both Chelsea and City can afford that sum too.

It would never happen, of the players United could nab from Arsenal, the only one I could see realistically is Nasri, and I dont think that is all too likely in any event.

He'll probably go to Barca.

Then sit on the bench like he does for Spain.

Nice one Cesc.

Although i admit there is very little chance, i would love us to sign Fabregas. Imo considering his age, his passing ability both long and short is as good as anyone's, and he would be the perfect replacement for Scholes.

Wenger may not want to sell to us, but if we were to make a really serious bid, Wenger knows Fabregas wants to leave and Barca may not be prepared to pay what we would, because as they said last year they feel they should get him at a discounted price due to their considerable time spent developing him at their academy.

If Barca cannot match our bid, Fabregas would at least know he would seriously contend for the major honours if he were to come here, and he would be undoubtedly first choice in our midfield.

So it could come down to him considering remaining in England, playing a pivotal role for the most successful and most likely club to seriously challenge for major trophies, or realistically warming the bench at Barca waiting for Xavi and Iniesta to either retire or drop from their current level.

Clutching at straws i admit, but sometimes big money makes the unlikely happen! Look at Torres!

Offcourse Fabregas would be the prefect replacement for Scholes, but can't see him moving any where else other than Barca if he does leave the emirates.

We're not the goddamn Mafia.

Really?

I think if we do buy a playmaker this summer then it will definitely be someone very young who isnt really a household name just yet and not too expensive.
Sahin springs to mind. But whoever it is we buy it will be a surprise and not someone linked to us much in the tabloids

I disagree. Sneijder is a dead cert IMO. We have plenty of young players, we need an experienced player to come in when we lose Scholes/VDS. Otherwise we imbalance the squad.
