Olympics Football Semi Final

Its today..

Anyone knows what are the chances that Anderson starts?

We should be cheering on Argentina so that Anderson will be back in the UK by Saturday. That would give him an outside chance of playing against Pompey and also keep Mascherano out of the Liverpool side a bit longer.

I want Brazil to go out so we get Anderson back.

I think he's started all their games (of any significance) so I would be surprised if he didn't start.

Why didn't Tevez go for Argentina btw

First of all, he's over 23 so they would have to pick him as one of the over aged players.

Don't know if they tried to select him but he was in desperate need of some rest anyway, having not had any for about 3 years or something crazy like that.

I think you have to be under 21 to participate! or have I got this wrong? hmmmm, not sure

I think the losing teams still stay around for the bronze-medal game at the weekend. So it makes no difference.

Äh? Didnt Ronaldinho play in every game for Brazil so far?

I think it's an unwritten rule, that teams let their youngsters play in the olympics.

I doubt Anderson will come back any sooner if they lose today.

It's only a matter of one day's difference, as they have to play a bronze final anyway.

See post #19...

Hope the match is a cracker, but I doubt it. Watching Brazil has become such a chore these days.

If Anderson plays, he needs to demand the ball more in the way that he did against Arsenal.

Unfortunately for Brazil. they're going to be up against the very best player in the world. Did anybody see that pass from Messi for Argentina's second goal the other day?

That was as Maradona-esque as his goal against Getafe.

Anderson and Lucas are great young players, but they make a frustrating pairing. Hope they rise to the occasion and do better today.

I'm more reserved about Lucas, but Anderson has so much ability it's just silly. This is why his performances for Brazil bewilder me because he doesn't seem to want the ball! :D

No, he doesn't really seem to want the ball. Lucas drops deeper and starts it all off. Fair enough, he's good at that. But Anderson hasn't responded to that in a mature manner. He stands around too much when he'd be of much more use making the powerful runs he's capable of into space. He's a great young player, on his day he has it all. But for Brazil he looks a bit lackluster for the second summer in a row. Today I'd love to see proper stamina and morale from Andy. He's good enough and confident enough to grab any game by the balls.

Are you talking about that through ball? If that's the case we see such balls every game in the EPL. It was a nice assist but seriously i've seen the likes of Rooney, Scholes, Riquelme, Giggs, Xavi, Pirlo doing that too....

Good player though, think he will really make the difference this season for Barca.

The one that went throught 3 players straight to Di Maria. It was gorgeous.

even if Brazil lose, isn't there a play-off for bronze?
