Brands: JLINGZ, JJO, Fierce, AM9, JM8, Paul Pogba Collection

I could get behind it if he actually had some creative ideas but..

“JLINGZ” is so cringeworthy. Who wants to wear that? I know I’m not the target market, but still..

Now that Dele Alli is done, Lingard is fast becoming the most punchable face in football.

Nothing against Jesse but this looks like the kind of thing that's going for a fiver a piece in Primark.

Perhaps players will realise your brand will 100 times better when you're a good player. I'm sure Cristiano Ronaldo's stuff sells quite well.

Nobody would wear Jordan if he couldn't dribble a ball.

To be honest I’ve never understood the idea that if a player isn’t performing or has just lost a game they have to do nothing but mope around thinking about it all day:lol: Nothing wrong with having some outside business ventures in their free time, at the end of the day their career will only last 10-15 years and that’s avoiding injuries.

Becks is the master of cultivating and promoting yourself as a brand, none of these lads even comes close.

Suppose it does help that he's friggin' GORGEOUS though.

Did you think the timing of the launch a few days before Liverpool away was good?

His performance has clearly gone downhill in the last 12 months, could it just be form or is he distracted? I’d suggest both myself.
Probably not but I still maintain it doesn't/shouldn't affect his performances. I think people are just looking for an explanation as to why Lingard isn't good at this level.
He has been exposed in ole's system and his fans are tying his brand to his current form. I feel if maybe we were to play to his strengths he would perfrom better but that isnt an option because he isnt an important player for us.

I can't stand this JLingz crap. Remember when we use to laught at Pool players and call them Spice Boys? What are we now? K Pop Boys?
Years ago, we mocked Liverpool for turning up to the cup final in cream suits. And we were also the kings of English football.

And yet nowadays our over hyped and deluded players have their own clothing brands.

Says it all.
Remember how Rio came to his presentation in a cream suit and founded his own fashion brand in 2009? Or this Cristiano chap?

Personal brands aren't the problem. Being a shit footballer is. Personal brands of shit footballers are funny though.

Fergie told Rio to stop all that merked crap tv he started to get involved with. Told him he had plenty of time for that when his playing career was over.

But its not just one game. His form has dropped off a cliff and he is contributing very little in the way of attack when it is already the weakest part of our game.

Maybe his clothing brand and his social media presence have no impact at all on his form, but at the same time if his form is terrible then doing these kind of things will automatically put him right in the firing line.

I personally like him, he seems to have a social conscience and he's visited hospitals after the Manchester attacks etc. He might not be United quality but I don't think he's deserving of some of the criticism he gets.

His clothing brand isn’t to blame for his form. It isn’t to blame for the fact that he isn’t very good. But his clothing brand, in addition to the childish behaviour on social media (00.12% and BEANZ being my personal favourites), doesn’t leave you very much in the bank with the supporters when you haven’t scored or assisted a goal in twelve months.

Act like a ferret; play the fool. But make sure you’re justifying it with your performances on the pitch. Otherwise you’re just a fool that isn’t very good at doing your job. That’s a problem.

Lingard is one of the most unpopular footballers I can recall playing at the club. This isn’t down to his (poor) performances. Not fully.

I cringe for the guy.

Generally the idea behind marketing stuff like this, is that the person is actually a popular and pretty decent player, and therefore marketable. Even some of the less globally popular players that have tried this would at least have a huge market in their home countries to appeal to (see Valencia AV25) where they are very popular.

Unfortunately for Jesse, hes not even all that popular within Manchester never mind England. The general consensus with opposition & neutral fans (and alot of our own) is that hes a pretty unpopular an unlikeable lad. This was never going to take off.

I dont know the lad, he could well be a very nice guy. but from the outside, he doesnt come across all that likeable.. This branding fashion lifestyle for footballer was ever going to work for the ultra famous and fashionable guys, or legends, like your CR7's, Beckham, neymar, messi etc.

Hope this doesnt set a precedent where other mediocre guys thinks its a great idea to start their own brand. Next it will be 'Andy Carroll branded suits' hanging up beside 'Mark Noble's Aftershave' :nervous:

Comparing personal brands with the FA Cup final white suits is dumb. Surely people see the difference between something that is done in player's private time and seems to be very common these days to bringing your fashion project to a cup final for all of your team mates to wear. It's not like our players showed up to a game wearing J-Lingz hoodies.

Not that Spice boys "failed" because of the suits anyway.

I just dont get why someone advise them to spend time on something they obviously know very little about. Or why someone dont advise them to stay away from something they know little about.

I can get if a player «give his name» to Adidas or something similar (like Pogba). They will obviously do the job for them. But to start more or less from scratch and do it on your own? What on earth makes them think that it will be a success? And why dont anyone tell them that it will not?

If those trackies and hoody didn't have J lingz on them they would be nice.

I dont get the logo, its fecking hideous.

I like my Adidas trainers have quite a collection but have you seen some of those ridiculous tops with full Adidas on them? I wouldn’t wear them, why would any self respecting person walk around with full blazed jlingz on themselves?

For a brief moment, I thought Lingard was modelling a City Hoodie.........

Its not just that, its the fact that the logo is aligned with mediocrity. Anybody who know what it even means is not going to be impressed by it.

In all seriousness, Lingard will see this as a "laugh" but its a distraction and not a good one. I'm all for players investing their time into other ventures but unless its a positive distraction (which this clearly wont be as its tanking), then cut it out.

Gary Neville invested in multiple businesses when he was in his 20s.

For me it’s not a bad thing. But all these players starting clothing brands does show how
1) How egotistical and out of touch they are... is Lingard aware of peoples perception of him and that it’s won’t endear anyone into wearing his name.

2) Clothing... one of the hardest things to start, most will fail. It’s funny but you see the Pogba, who’d have the most chance of building a cloth brand off his name, actually being the shrewd one and using collaborating with Adidas. Makes you wonder whose advising the likes of Lingard.

3) Our team lacks creativity you can tell with their business ventures.

Generally speaking, its the clothing companies that collaborate with the athlete and not the other way around. CR7, Jordan etc. These are part of the contracts that the player has with the manufacturer. They do very little aside from give them rights to use their image to promote products and get paid for it.

Lingz is 27 but He looks like He's 35.

And in every single photo He managed to show faces that literally say "buy pls".

Fergie told Rio to stop all that merked crap tv he started to get involved with. Told him he had plenty of time for that when his playing career was over.

Not only that but Rio was more involved with it when he was coming to the end of his career and already achieved a lot on the pitch. All of our players have a brand without even doing anything. Who’s buying this crap?

Yeah he’s not giving off the ronaldo/becks appeal and does anyone else think those glasses are a shit fashion addition and aren’t needed at all?

The hoodie looks fine but the rest isn't my cup of tea at all and like you said, it looks cheap.
The logo is just horrible, I don't think he and his team truly studied the market to see if people would be interested in wearing something like this.

For all those claiming brands etc have no effect.....

Liverpools Spice boys VS Class of 92.
Both groups equally talented.
1 group was more concerned with public image, adverts, public relations.
1 group focused solely on football..... I wonder which was which
Yeah, this post is nonsense, especially considering Beckam is a part of that class of 92.

Beckham eventually chose underwear modelling over football, but the point still stands. At the time the whole "spice boys" thing was lame af.

With regard to the OP, players are free to do what they want, but I struggle with the idea that they're paid more than they ever were and do this stuff. Paid beyond their wildest dreams to do a dream job at a young age and still think "I must start my clothing/lifestyle 'brand' ". File me under old & out of touch I suppose! I suppose if a player is banging the goals in and good performances week after week no-one takes any notice of the sidelines.

Beckham had already won 2 EPL titles and an FA cup and it wasnt until way after France 98 that he started dicking about with his 'brand'
He was also very Handsome so activities away from football were always inevitable, especially once his levels of fame went global.

Lingard, Martial, Cleverley, Lukaku have done literally nothing of note in their careers and instead use the fact the play(ed) for UNITED as a right to be famous and arrogant enough to believe they have enough fans to buy into their activities.

TC23 died when he became a burden to the team
I guarantee that Lukaku's sales of whatever the hell he is selling has plummeted since leaving United - on the whole it feels like they use the club as oppose to perform for it - something that Beckham did since day 1

Yeah I thought that. Decent bit of clobber to wear if you fancy an autumn stroll, make a pit stop in the gym, or pull into Starbys for a 30 calorie Americano. Course if its got the logo on people are going to look up and smirk.
