Brands: JLINGZ, JJO, Fierce, AM9, JM8, Paul Pogba Collection

JLings should retire from football so he can focus on rebuilding his clothing brand.

This is the kind of nonsense that prevents a footballer from being the best they can be and serving their club properly.

What on earth is that photo of Lingard? It's like his mum's forced him to go to a baptism at church.

this is a weeks' wages. either it's working as some tax scheme or it's something he likes and is spending 2% of his income on.

There are quite a bit of startup costs depending on how much marketing and product you make up front

That is fair.

I think every player should be provided a small bonus in exchange for agreeing to sit down with a traditional financial planner and accountant. Or better yet, threatened with a small fine.

I don't understand the problem myself? It's essentially players just lending their names to companies creating products. Been done in football for years.

New business in first year losses shocker.

People pointing to stuff like this as an indicator of lack of effort or dedication are, quite frankly, stupid.

Not that the brand is a good idea or likely to be a success, mind, his financial advisors are probably pulling their hair out.

I don't have any problem with his taste in clothes or style. He can dress how he wants (I recall Michael Jordan used to love style from the 1920s). The only problem is if a player starts believing their own hype before they've really proven anything, a la Cleverley. And it can also be a bit childish when you buy into a self-created brand/myth (Ince "call me the Governor" bit).

One gander at his website is all you need to understand exactly why he's just haemorrhaging money on this sad excuse for a brand.

Adding a shit name and an even shitter logo to generic george asda hoodies and t shirts is not gonna turn you into the next Ralph Lauren. Especially when you're a no mark z-list Prem footballer with no personal fanbase to speak of.

The aftershave is still the most desperate part of it. 'Smell like Lingz'. The cheapest tackiest looking box and bottle I've ever seen. £45 reduced to £16. Hilarious.
An aftershave and Lingard has no beard to shave

just watching a giggs interview with United stand and immediately he talks about the new signings being just footballers, and that's it.

AWB should start a contraception range - "nothing's getting past this bad boy"

I can see why they are doing it as like people say football is a short career I'd rather they were doing that than falling out of pubs or whatever

However it is the way they are doing it- time the releases of the product better eg during when you are on a summer break where possible or midweek if there are no games off the back of a decent result like people say Ronaldo could launch a range of toilet paper complete with silly video and no one would care because of his performances on the pitch

The Jlingz stuff, last time I looked, looks like it is aimed at teenagers however due to the price of it, is probably priced out of their means, so lessens the audience as the audience its aimed at cant afford to buy it unless their parents do. Like people have said as well people have to like the person releasing it. I've seen loads of Fortnite merchandise being worn by children friends of mine on social media have uploaded. Plus JLINGZ is linked to United so unless you're a super fan, you are more likely to purchase say a United shirt with his name on than the 2 separate things. I've just looked and it's on average around 40 quid. There is a reflective range, which while potentially a good idea, all the items are in black, so kind of contradicts the reflective part as if you need reflective clothing, itll probably be dark, so surely bright colours would be better?

Maybe he should go on the Apprentice!

One thing I have noticed, since Ole has come in and "spoken to" Jlingz about that stupid beanz video, he has been a lot quieter on social media as have in fact, most of the team. I certainly haven't seen any more beanz videos. Perhaps he needs to design some beanz hoodies with Rashy modelling them for him....

I’d say his crap form has a lot to do with it also.

Ok but Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time and has a legitimate claim to be the greatest sportsperson of all time.
Most of these guys haven't proven anything yet.

Sort your real career out first before branching out.

I didn't bring Mike up in relation to branding - he is obviously the archetype of that. Just in relation to style. Who cares about other people's style? It's a bit pointless. Branding is a different matter. You can do it sensibly, or you can buy into your own hype which is a disappointing display of character.

Who buys this stuff? Kids?! It's like branded t shirts for YouTube celebs. It must be for people who buy them by accident.

"Aw.... thanks.... nana. Yeah, yeah honestly this was exactly what I wanted... He's a footballer, nana. Well, I mean, if you actually do still have the receipt I will take it."

Christ, not the Roy Bloody Keane thing again...

Fukking ridiculous. Accomplish something with your career before trying to cash in on your name.

Who buys anything associated with TC23?

Yeah, that's our problem. Too many people who want to be famous and football is just the way they can finance it.

Any reference to Jordan is ridiculous.

You know what sold the Jordan brand? Michael Jordan winning trophies.

Read those posts again. It was in reference to personal style - something no one should give any fecks about. And Jordan was a brand before he won titles.

A loss in the first year isn’t abnormal.

I'm shocked his clothing brand is doing poorly.

And that's not a knock on his dedication. There are more fun ways to burn through money. If you want a solid investment, why not stick your earnings in a simple fund and forget about it?

It’s probably something he’s passionate about, rather than just something he wants to make some money off of. Lingz clearly takes a lot of pride in his appearance and his dress, so I think it’s a safe assumption to make that this was more about something he’s passionate about rather than a solid investment.

Wish he was as passionate about football tbh

Does the stuff he hawks look like something anybody was passionate about while creating it?

Football is a very short career. It pays well but as an adult you also have to think about life after your footballing career. I see nothing wrong with any of these brands to be honest. I honestly dont see how having a side business should affect your main job. A lot of people do it everyday. We make it seem like its hard to play football while also doing other things. Humans beings are very capable of multitasking and still producing excellent results. I dont believe for one second that Lingards performances would be different if he didn't have his brand.

Did you think the timing of the launch a few days before Liverpool away was good?

His performance has clearly gone downhill in the last 12 months, could it just be form or is he distracted? I’d suggest both myself.

True. But there's a difference between Beckham, Ronaldo etc (actual good footballers with a huge following) and Lingard. I don't think many people want to dress in Lingard branded clothes.

For all those claiming brands etc have no effect.....

Liverpools Spice boys VS Class of 92.
Both groups equally talented.
1 group was more concerned with public image, adverts, public relations.
1 group focused solely on football..... I wonder which was which
