Film Bond on Prime

In the words of Rich Evans of RedLetterMedia…How does it feel to have lived long enough to see all of your favorite franchises go down in flames?

I have read somewhere that they were thinking of setting it in the 1960s (Connery era) which would be interesting as it would be something different as opposed to being present day in every installment, and would set it in an appropriate era of Cold War and the whole espionage angle prevalent back then.

So I’m expecting it to get bastardised like Amazon did with LOTR or milked to death like Disney have done with Star Wars and Marvel.

I’m sure we’ll get a bunch of spin-off series such as one with Rosa Krebs as some sassy independent girlboss or Blofeld as some misunderstood hero… maybe a ‘lmao so random’ nerd comedy starring Q, where his wacky creations go a little too crazy! Oh boy! M is right behind me isn’t he?! Womp womp!

100% what they will do. We will get a load of spin offs, like you said maybe a Blofeld origin story or some shite.

 nailed it

What has happened to Lord of the rings and Star wars should scare us all. Having no respect for the source material is what is incoming. Black female Bond kicking ass and blowing shit up while keeping her family running smooth and helping her dumb white middle age husband finds his car keys because without her he is helpless.

Hmm.

That seemed oddly specific

I tried watching the early Bonds a few years ago but the women slapping made me look for something else

It's a bit different with Bond because the character is tied so strongly with product endorsement so at a minimum they'll have to be an equivalent market for whatever new character they put in place.

This page has some of the products used in the last movie. Personally I think it's a hard sell to market Triumph bikes, Omega watches and Aston Martin cars towards an equivalent female audience. I doubt those brands would go for it.

If ever there were a time to set Bond in the present day though...dust off the Cold War chops and go and feck up some Russians again in Africa or Ukraine or Syria (or America) or wherever you like. The world is full of shit Bond villains right now in real life.
