Bluemoon goes into Meltdown

I’m happy they lost and are out of the champions league.

Now they can concentrate on beating Liverpool to the premier league title.

We also need Barca to knock the pool out of the champions league next.

Will you be despondent if your team beat them next week?

Agreed.

Mission 1 - Someone stop the City quadruple. MISSSION ACCOMPLISHED
Mission 2 - City win the PL (begrudgingly conceded but they're still a long, long way behind us in the title pecking order and it would be absolutely unbearable if the shite from down the road won it).
Mission 3 - Liverpool to crash out of the CL and consign them to another season of feck all.

Now they're seriously debating whether a domestic treble would be better than United's 99 treble.

(start)
So, I was having a bit of banter this morning with a United fan in work.

Talking about the title race, the FA Cup Final, etc.

So I said to him......

“If City win the PL title and the FA Cup, City have done the treble.”(having already won the League Cup)

He looked at me, paused, and blurted out.....

“That’s not the proper treble.”(here we go, blah, blah, blah)

Implying United’s treble was the proper treble.

I replied.

“The proper treble is the domestic treble, not the treble United won.”

To my knowledge no English club has ever done the domestic treble. I stand corrected on that.

So which treble is the legitimate treble?

The domestic treble or a treble of trophies in any combination?
(end)

Too plastic to analyze. Their reaction was meh compared to "I dun believe it". Their team scored the 'winning' (granted it was overruled) goal and They had people busy with their phone recording without any excitement at all.

I fixed it.

This is laughable and disgusting at the same time on so many levels.

Yeah am I the only one who finds the whole vibe really apathetic. A stoppage time knock out winner at the end of an epic game. Its like a load of people who went along to their friends Sunday league and know when they should celebrate but can't muster the feeling to actually care. It's abysmal

Probably not, because Liverpool will have dropped some points by then too. :D

For the avoidance of being re-quoted on Sunday, I wont forecast what we're going to do to Cardiff.
But your statement may turn out to be wrong :nono:

Are they seriously saying that the game is ruined because now refs can make the right fecking decision? They are mad the right decision was made..imagine if Spurs got knocked out because of an offside goal.

Jesus they are special huh?

I actually agree with him to be honest. Celebrating a goal is the paramount moment for any supporter in the ground.

You would have a glance at the lino, if his flag was down, it was your cue to go full on mental.

The fact it could get brought back for VAR is always in your mind, so it sort of spoils the moment.

It's not so much about the rights and wrongs of the decisions, though I can see your point. More to do with experience of watching football.

Maybe it's different when you're living at Manchester.

I'm a Malaysian, and a sight of City fan here is like seeing a big foot. A rare phenomenon.

Liverpool fans here are abundant.
I'm from India actually! Plenty of Arsenal, Chelsea and United fans and a few City fans here. There are a decent number of Liverpool fans but none that I know personally.

Guardiola went bouncing up the touchline so I'm not really sure var is in anyone's mind

It's better the correct decision is made rather than not want to embarrass anyone for celebrating early.

I always have a moment of hesitation on celebrating any goals because of Keane v Arsenal & Sheringham v Juve in 99.

They barely celebrated anyway. Hard for them to be devastated when they don't look arsed to begin with. A few tossers waving plastic flags and some other people stood around wondering why they came, even if they did get a free ticket.

I thought that too - that's one of the most tame last minute goal winning celebrations I've ever seen.

Conversely, Spurs fans celebrated it like they won the whole competition. We were missing no drama in that whole phase, the decision was made quick enough to not lose that.

"Var was supposed to be for clear and obvious mistakes. No one thought our goal was offside, VAR officials are re referring the game, its bollocks, I knew after the World Cup last year when there seemed to be a penalty in every game that Var would be abused and it was the thin end of the wedge. It will ruin our game, I know it was offside to the letter of the law but the interpretation is open to all kinds of abuse."

This is my favourite. Basically he is saying; "We cheated and ref didn't noticed it. Goal should stand". Bloody hell

Wow, those scenes of celebration would have been embarrassing without VAR. The definition of a plastic club with actor fans. Now win the league and have your little tea party.

I was at Anfield for the Dormund match 3 years ago and when we scored a last minute winner, the roof nearly fell off. It was utter madness and the most incredible atmosphere I've ever experienced anywhere. Those City fans dont look like they give a shit. I'm glad they're out although I am a little shocked that some plastic flags and piped in atmosphere didn't win them the game!

Absolutely loving this, mainly because it's the opposite to what happened 7 years ago. They thought they had another AGUEROOOOOO moment

Logic departed in that forum

Jeez, the bitters make better banter bait than the scousers.

Obviously, I've put a few things on social media this morning and had the almost instantaneous chomp(s) re. 'coming out of the woodwork' or 'out from under my rock'. Obviously none of them posted shit Barcelona memes or anything the night before, but apparently that's OK. Its funny as feck.

Yup ruined and corrupt. Because the people behind VAR are Spur fans and even though it was an offside by the rules of football a non Spur fan in the VAR room could have interpreted the situation differently. That's what I got from their posts.
Well that’s a silly conspiracy theory. In reality it’s a group of 5 United fans who are deciding these things.

I think VAR actually stands for ‘video assisted rags’

Its a terrible terrible thing to be happy at other people's misery.

But god, does it feel good.

So which treble is the legitimate treble?

As far as I am aware its been generally accepted all over Europe that winning the CL and your top two trophies in your own country (e.g. PL And FA Cup in England) is the legitimate 'top treble' . Of course winning any three titles (except Community Shield) constitutes a treble, but its not the top treble"

So you would rather the wrong decision be made?

There is so much wrong with this post.

To add to City's woes, if their fans remember, if VAR had been available in their FA cup match with Swansea they would not be in the FA cup final now! So you win some you lose some, get over it blues, prove your credentials by winning the PL two season on the trot... a feat only achieved by Chelsea and of course United!

I thought the same thing watching this! It's liked they just scored their 5th against a league one team in the FA cup.

When we compare this to our recent night in Paris, even they must get embarresed!

This is why I take them winning the league over Liverpool, they don't care. Within a few days it is forgotten about because their fans are more interestedin them spending 100m on a player than winning anything.

Good point Maticmaker.

Not to mention their absurdly kind cup draws.

League Cup

Oxford
Fulham
Leicester
Burton Albion
Chelsea

FA Cup

Rotherham
Burnley
Newport
Swansea
Brighton
Watford

Champions League

Lyon
Shaktar
Hoffenheim
Shalke
Tottenham

An absolute joke I'm sure you'll agree.

Would have been a travesty if they won the quadruple with draws like that. Had they beat Spurs, they'd be against Ajax (no disrespect, but they're still one of the easier teams left in the competition).

Really hope Watford shock them.

That's shocking. I honestly doubt there was ever so much luck given in all competitions over a year, ever!

Our treble was:

FA Cup - Chelsea, Arsenal & Newcastle
CL - Group of death, Intern, Juventus, Bayern

Mental.

Had Liverpool in the FA Cup too.
