Bluemoon goes into Meltdown

the club do want to raise the global profile, gaining a worldwide fan base

 The sheik can throw hundreds of millions at the club but City will NEVER EVER become a worldwide brand, they will always be in United/liverpool/arsenals shadow. United and Liverpool in particular have had decades of success and built up a huge fan base, city will never Match that.

Don't really think City have alot to worry about in regards to overseas fans & glory hunters. They are struggling to get their uk based support to grow in the kind of numbers they expected. This is all with Mansour subsidising ticket costs & the BOGOF deals.

Alot of glory hunters would have probably latched onto City at the time of the takeover. It seemed a plan that couldn't fail. Throw money at everything & watch the trophies roll in. Many of these fans would have been expecting more than 4 trophies in 8 years, 2 of these being minor honours. Alot of these fans have probably already changed allegiances.

We will never become a worldwide brand... That's me done then. The trophies, goals, class players, ups and downs, means nothing if we can't become a worldwide brand! Until I see we are number 1 on mug sales around the world I won't be happy!

Give your head a wobble man.

Why are City fans replying in this thread, a thread not dedicated to City discussion but to Bluemoon laughing, all the time with their uncontrolable need to defend all that is City? It really makes them look even more smalltime. Is it because this is the only thread on the caf where their club is somewhat relevant to us perhaps and they just love the attention they get in here because it makes them feel like they are relevant to us?

Watch the city fans reply to this and proving my point.

I got a quotation alert from @Cityfaninpeace in this thread, and then come into the thread seeing him quote another guy.

What is this treacherous magic?

Getting a bit shouty aren't you? That smiley thing fools nobody.
You support Leeds RL?

Since a lot of city fans are here let me give my predictions about this season. At the start, you will see a lot of closet city fans here tell you that they will walk the league like they have said for the last two seasons. They will write things like ...

"honestly looking at the squads, I reckon its between city and Arsenal for the title..but pep will give city an edge":D .

I swear they repeat this line at the beginning of every season like zombies, as if trying to convince themselves we are not a threat anymore. Don't let this get to you, you will find it funny when they get thrashed left right and center by the likes of Leicester, and Rashford.

You will also find muppets who will keep telling you that Aguero, Kdb, Silva and Nolito will score five goals every game. And that Gundogan will transform them. Ignoring the fact that it is more likely that Aguero, Silva, Gundogan will spend most of the time with the doctor than with Pep.

In reality, if you wanted to bet on the surprise of this season, I would put some money on them finishing outside the top four this season. Now, now, I know some of you believe religiously that Pep is immune of failure. But they have an aging squad and no defense to speak of since Kompany is always injured. They might never really replace Toure just like United with Keane and Arsenal with Viera. And its Pep's first season and first time with a team that lacks world beaters. Plus, he could go beyond the Semi-finals with Bayern for three years!

I think west ham or Chelsea will take their place in the top four and we will take Leicester's.

Come on mate, City gave up halfway through last season and still finished inside the top four. What chance have they got of missing out now they've got a shiny new manager and loads of new players?

I can see United and Chelsea taking the places of Arsenal and Leicester. Spurs and Liverpool to fight it out for the final spot.

Gündoğan is apparently better than Kroos by a distance.

Gundogan moves the ball around fine & also runs about. I really don't understand why we need a specialist player to do a little bit more in that respect when we already have a whole bunch of quality 'ball manipulators' including Yaya Toure. His contribution for Germany right now, against a team of troglodytes, is Gareth Barry without the defensive ability.

I think Gundogan is a much superior player & imo I would rather have Modric & about 10 other players rather than Kroos, to balance City's midfield. If Pep wants him then fair enough. I don't believe he does.

Better than Kroos if you ask me.

I think Gundogan is on another level to Kroos personally.

Gundogan is the perfect CM. Kroos is a fantastic CM, but has very little pace and isn't the best at tracking defenders. Kroos comes from 2 consecutive teams where more others do the hard shifts, Gundogan comes from a team where EVERYONE does the hard shifts. The only blemish on Gundo is his injuries the last couple of years. I actually think gundogan, if he remains fit, can become the best CM in the world under pep.

By a distance imo. He does most of what Kroos does apart from some of the long ball stuff, & works really hard closing down as well as carrying the ball at pace.

I don't see Kroos making City 'better' personally.

A worldwide brand is a great safety net if you have a few lean years. United have been absolutely bobbins for three years yet still we have loads of money coming in and have the chance of bouncing back, because of the fanbase we built up when times were good.

At the moment City are totally reliant on the beneficence of the Sheikhs. As soon as they're gone, so are City. So I guess the fanbase issue is a significant one - City need to keep cultivating those out-of-town supporters to ensure long-term sustainability, even if it means going down some crass and cringeworthy routes as United have done.

Personally I think City won't ever get to that platinum level of prestige until they sign a megastar like Messi or Neymar, a global icon to endorse their project and legitimises their brand. At the moment it's all very plastic and nouveau riche; City are well-known internationally but they aren't respected in the same way United, Liverpool or Arsenal are.

Use the right thread.
Use the right thread.

Really? OK! I will take it to another thread. However, I will say that this used to be a thread about making fun of city and blue moon and I did that.. I added some more opinions and maybe I took the thread off topic. But there are people here asking about how Pep will line up next season!! I am not the first to complain about this thread being messed with. I hope every one who goes out of topic even a little is told so immediately.

In the spirit of bringing this back to topic..this one made me laugh when Rashford came in against wales....This is from blue moon.

"Oh my fecking god if rashford scores i am going to fecking hang myself"

The Berties are trying to hijack this thread. Let's not fall into their trap. ;)
It's good that there is now another City based thread and their performance can be assessed there.
This thread can now return to highlighting nutjob posts on BM.

Yeah I used to work with a couple of City fans, one from Oldham, and one from Stockport!! True blues!

A few years ago my work meant that I had to visit a warehouse in Middleton, and it was staunchly red apart from one lone supervisor who was blue. This was before the sheik's takeover and when we were in our pomp - the poor guy had a permanently hang dog expression whenever I saw him.

Wasn't meant to be shouty all I'm saying is if the owners ambition is to become a worldwide brand then it ain't going to happen.

Yeah I am a rhinos fan, born and raised in leeds but family originally from manchester (all United fans) so grown up supporting them, odd combination I know, rhinos Have been absolutely awful this year fallen really hard from the top.

.

Chelsea managed it, and they were smaller than City.

They still think the whole world hates them.

It's become institutionalised. The criticism for City players just trips of their tongues without a second thought. ****s.

Not the BBC, but the Sky Sports app has a 'transfer centre' and it links stories to clubs.
Normally things like Club X in talks with player Y.

All week, you can get a link to 3 teams transfer rumours.
Guess which three teams have a
'Latest ................ Rumours'?

Yup. For days now, we can get a link to the latest United rumours
latest Arsrnal rumours
latest Liverpool rumours.

No other clubs.

Was just about to post that. They are pissed off about the weirdest things. They’ve got a great manager, a what looks like a good summer of transfers etc., but they keep on bitchin’ about this kind of stuff

But who cares? Seriously? Fans don't really give a shit about these things, what they care about is what they see on the pitch. Ultimately you want good football and trophies. Ideally in a stadium with a good atmosphere. Everything else I couldn't give two hoots about and I imagine it's the same for most match going fans.

Well, they're entitled to take part, I guess.

But why they'd want to I've no idea. If I were a City fan I'd simply stay away from a thread dedicated to taking the piss out of City fans. There was something similar going on in the RAWK thread at one point, but I think those Liverpool fans realized how pointless it was.

As if the BBC, the Sky etc. weren't enough, now the foreign media is also carrying out the Ragspiracy campaign against the Massive club;

I watched the Eng V Wales game on Italian telly. For the first 40 mins the commentators kept mentioning "Joe Hart" or "Hart". After the Bale goal they referred to him as "Joe Hart, Manchester City".
