Maybe a bigger question should be asked about Emirates being involved with both clubs for that game. Arsenal don't need the points so could be given an 'incentive' to lose to keep City in the CL.
Of course Arsenal need the points, 3rd is auto qualifying for group stages of CL, 4th gets you a qualifier, big difference.
And there's still the chance of finishing above Spurs.
From a Graham Poll article after a Brendan Rodgers rant about a Greater Manchester based referee:
''Referees complete a form each season and on it, they declare any allegiance to a football team.
It could be that they support them, used to be a member or their partner or close family's association means they don't feel they can referee any team impartially.
They will never referee that team or one of their immediate rivals, i.e. a Manchester City fan would not officiate a Manchester United game either.''

If Anthony Taylor had any allegiances to United or City he wouldn't be in charge of today's match.
I thought only the top 2 spots were automatic.
A common Bluemoon post:I've never seen a scrap of humour on their forum. Practically all the other major boards (RAWK, TLW, GOT, Shed End, AM etc etc) have funny & self-deprecating stuff, but not Bluemoon.
Rag rag ram, scum rag SCUM RAG rAG.
Third is as well, always has been as far as I can remember. Used to be all four but that got changed a few seasons back.
Fixed.Their forum is almost completely about United.
Fixed again.

It's never been all four as automatic. It used to be top 2 automatic and the next 2 went into qualifiers, but the qualifiers weren't split like they are now so you'd end up being drawn against the Hungarian champions and breezing into the group stages anyway.
Most of the time, they're not really there either, adding irony to a fanbase...
Rag against the machine.
If we win our last two games, this could be the biggest meltdown since Chernobyl on little old bluemoon.
best everRag against the machine.
They're embarassing as feck too sometimes. The sheer arrogance and how biased they are does my fecking head in. Say one bad thing about them on tv and they create a whole thread about how you hate city etc etc. Show them last on motd and it's a bbc conspiracy or everyone at bbc supports utd. Embarassing children they are. They're gona have a wake up call with pep tooOften the same in real life, they're a peculiar fanbase - not known really for much, you know it's bad when perhaps your biggest claim to fame is that you've 'stuck by the club' but also 'not really here.' Most of the time, they're not really there either, adding irony to a fanbase who, even though they have won the lottery remain perpetually sucking lemons. Bitterness does that to folk.
lol I had that happen before. They were linked with a player or signed a player I forgot, may have been sterling, and I posted "I'm not a huge fan tbh think money could have been spent more wisely"I joined their site a while back. Made a comment which wasn't particularly contentious and got banned! They really are a bitter lot! Their end of season lap of honour and Pellers farewell in an empty stadium???
