One of my fav players, and we thought of picking him if it came to our turn, but my worry was him and Cruyff on the same pitch. I think you would have the same problem with Zidane and Ronnie on the same pitch, but yeah that's muppetastic batch of players. :drool:
 
Bloody hell.. Goofy, Zidane and Ronnie in same team. Not sure if it will get but I wouldn't want to face that

I have this proper, sensible team written down and most of the players on it still haven't been picked. But when my go comes around and there are Zidane's or Ronaldinho's available, the voices in my head take over.

They've already started whispering about my fourth pick.

That would have been madness. He was a sensational player and is an even better pick in this draft. There's exactly one player I rate higher than him in the role I want him to play and that's Matthäus, a few others on the same level of course, but no one else I'd prefer over him in my team. It's no coincidence that those two are the only central midfielders to ever win a Ballon d'Or.

He completely slipped my mind for some reason. The only pick so far that I hadn't thought about, which is particularly stupid on my part given how well he fits the restriction.
 
Aye, Masopust is a cracking pick at this stage and an immense all-round midfielder. Easily final-worthy.

I thought of picking him instead of Neeskens but thought that Neeskens gave me more flexibility going forward so picked him instead.
 
By the way, it's a shame that Masopust isn't mentioned in the 'footballer who carried the whole team' thread yet. What he did for his nationalteam is nothing short of sensational and it took two feck-ups by the Czech goalkeeper for Brazil to win the WC final in '62.
 
There are definitely a fair few unpicked midfielders who are better than Masopust for me, but given the restrictions on this draft he's certainly a good pick.

Well, midfielders in general, yes. There are 2 CMs in particular I rate higher, but I would argue they played different roles in their teams, which is what I said.
