I watched highlights against Porto in CL 2004 and Fergie said after that game that ref cost us CL that year. So i am trying to remember when else refs had a mare in our games.
I will add best (and clear examples) after you post them:
Against us:
1) Scholes goal vs Porto
2) Nani's red card vs Real
3) Rafael's red card vs Bayern (ok, that decision was 50:50)
4) Drogba goal from offside when we lost a PL title because of it
5) penalty vs Sociedad
6) Fletcher red card in CL
7) Penalty for Boro in cup game
8) Henry offside goal
9) Newcastle game 2022 (clear pen and a goal)
10) Aston Villa free kick. Wall standing waaaaay too far
11) Portsmouth semi final (penalty on Ronaldo)

In our favour;
1) Chicharito goal against Chelsea from offside in 4:3 win plus Torres second yellow for diving
2) Carrol vs Spurs
3) Scholes not sent off vs Wigan
4) Rooney elbow vs Wigan
5) Evans karate kick on Drogba
6) Maguire not sent off vs Chelsea for kicking a player
7) Newcastle game 2022 (pen for Newcastle)
8) Mikhi scorpion goal

Scholes should probably have been sent off against Wigan in our final league game in 2008 when it was still 0-0, he got away with that one. In the end, Chelsea drew Bolton by conceding a last minute equalizer, but at that point we were already 2-0 ahead at the DW and would’ve won the title anyway. Could’ve been different though if Scholes gets sent off during the first half…

Good call

Nani's red against Real jumped to my mind straight away. Still pisses me off, Cakir what a fecking cnut.

Another one that jumps to my mind is the second leg of Chelsea-Barca at Stamford in 08/09. Not a United game, but I'm sure we'd have won a second title if we played Chelsea in the final. What a fecking disgrace of a refeeing performance as Drogba so eloquently put.

Someone should have been sent off in the first 10 minutes of a League Cup final against... Villa I think? it's the one where Owen scored the first goal.

One that always sticks out against us is a penalty Newcastle got at Old Trafford for Rio Ferdinand executing a perfect slide tackle that got all of the ball and zero of the man. They didn't even appeal for a penalty it was such a terrible decision... and the game ended in a 2-2 draw

concerning #3: This was not a 50:50 call. Rafael attempted a professional foul and Ribéry welcomed it. Rafael's 2nd yellow was certainly deserved. You could argue that Ribéry also should have gotten a warning due to his reaction to the foul. He's got a bad temper and in this moment he showed it. Ribéry was a bit lucky, but Rafael deserved it.

Still salty about Fletcher getting red carded for a perfectly good tackle and then being suspended for the CL final in 2009.

- Not sending Hector Moreno off (not even booking him) nor giving him a penalty when he shattered Shaw’s ankle during the game vs PSV, allowing the same player to score the winner and set Shaw back several years in his career. Also ruined his blossoming connection with Memphis.

- Several decisions in the FA Cup semi final vs Portsmouth - denied us a second treble.

- Michael Oliver with that ridiculous sending off of ADM whilst allowing Joe Hart to French kiss him.

- Giving Vardy that penalty in the 5-2 loss.

I have a very vivid memory of Rafael's first yellow in that game being absolute bullshit. Can't remember why though, think the referee ignored a blatant free kick for us and then immediately after booked Rafael.

Yeah this one is up there for me. Fletcher was in the form of his life at that point and would have been first name on team sheet for Rome. I’m still baffled how we appealed the red card and it was rejected.

In the season we lost the league on goal difference. We lost 1-0 to Wigan with about 5 games to go. I remember a very very blatant penalty for handball not being given

I have no recollection of what Scholes did in that game, only the penalty claim for Rio shouldering the ball. (Wasnt a penalty anyway)

A personal favourite is Hernandez being 3 pitches offside scoring the winner at Stamford Bridge, still justifed considering all the shit decisions that went against us against Chelsea around then. Oh and that game where they had multiple goals ruled out by VAR also stands out

Vidic not getting sent off in the Carling Cup final against Villa still baffles me to this day.

The penalty Sociedad received against us in the EL earlier this season for a supposed Martinez handball is legit one of the worst decisions I can ever remember seeing.

And not only did the ref give a penalty but he also booked Martinez for it.

Europa League refs are fecking awful.

Carroll at Spurs is easily the best/worst I've seen live. I was sat in line with the goal and everyone around me knew we'd massively got away with one.

Dire game too from what I remember. 0-0?

One of the most costly was Drogba's offside goal at Old Trafford. In theory, it lost us the league title. But then I dare say there were other games that season where we benefitted from a dubious decision.

EDIT: Apologies. I see it was already mentioned.

Several calls in the Middlesborough game last season when we went out on pens went against us.

There was the game against Burnley(?) at OT which John Moss was reffing when Ole was manager where pretty much literally everything went their way. He added on just 2 mins of added time even though Burnley wasted at least 10 minutes on subs, throwins, GKs etc. In added time they continued to waste pretty much the entirety of the 2 mins on goal kicks and throw ins etc. We were on the attack in their half with Burnley wide open at 91:50 and he blew for full time.
We went onto draw 2-2 I believe.

Obviously not the greatest in terms of consequences but they both stick out to me in terms of just how blatantly bad the ref was to our detriment

I can't remember if it was the same game but Gary Neville should have been sent off in the Mecheda game. Young destroyed him all first half.

Portsmouth FA Cup. Ronaldo was shoulder barged. Cost us the treble.

Was it before Nani's red card that a Real Madrid player should have been red carded?

The game against Arsenal where Ferdinand took Ljungberg out when he’d gone through, I’d have been furious with that one.

And they gave that cnut Hecto the MOTM as well from memory....absolute disgrace.

Loads but one that’s more recent is the Martinez penalty against Sociedad this season - still not only angers me but has me totally baffled. It’s not like the old days where the ref can just miss it. They had a zoomed in camera playing the incident at 0.5 frames a second, saw the ball hit his leg and bounce up onto his arm, and still gave a penalty despite the literal rules of the game saying it shouldn’t be.

It was just bizarre, and literally had a direct impact on our season as even though we won all our other games it cost us top spot in the group, meaning we now have a two legged tie against Barcelona instead of some cushy trip to Denmark or something.

Rooneys dive against Arsenal (Sol Campbell tackle), which got us a penalty. If I recall we ended Arsenals 49 game u beaten run in that game too and resulted in pizza gate

Maguire vs Chelsea, kicked a Chelsea player (Abraham?) in the balls and got nothing for it

We had some absolute shockers given against us against Arsenal early on in Wenger's tenure that have largely been forgotten.

Scholes had as stonewall a penalty as you'll ever see turned down in 97-98 at 2-2. Arsenal went on to win the game 3-2 and won the league.

In 2002/2003 there was a title decider at Highbury where Henry scored two offside goals. The second was absolutely shocking, miles off.

Compensated for the absolute stonewall pen on Ronaldo in the first half.

Ashley Young diving against Wigan I think it was? The game was locked at 0-0 when someone touched his sleeve and he went down tumbling in the box. We scored from the pen and won because of it. Fergie kind of acknowledged it was a dive after

One that went for us was against Blackburn away in 94/95.

1-0 down, Sharpe went through on goal, Berg got back well, played the ball and took Sharpe down with him. Soft penalty and even softer red card for Berg which turned the game on its head.

We beat them by 2 goals and had a clear cut penalty denied as well. Not sure that should count here.

Paul Bosvelt from Feynoord nearly snapping Denis Irwin's leg in half and Feynoord being allowed to sub him we got a free but don't even think he got a yellow. Fergie went apopletic

Yep. Was absolutely shambolic. I remember being fuming for a long time after the game.
Luke nearly lost his leg because of that cnut but it really warms my heart to see Luke overcome his adversity and playing the way he is now and with a smile on his face :)

The handbwll by middlesbrough last season is the worst ive ever seen.

Not just that it was blatant but it was shown very clearly on the VAR and wasn't even an accidental error. They deliberately got the decision wrong then literally invented a new rule to get around it. The point at which I gave up on the idea that these things are always "mistakes"

Who scored the scorpion kick? Was it Mkhitaryan? Miles offside!

The 6 added minutes against Wednesday in 1993 were generous and unusual for the time.
