Better the devil you know?

Interesting to hear if anyone out there thinks that the Glazers staying in charge might be the best option?

They seem to have finally stumbled on a decent manager and - for all their sins - have tended to back their managers in the transfer market. With the rumours of Avram Glazer being keen to hold onto the club, what happens if they raise a couple of hundred million through selling some equity in the club to give ETH a war chest for the summer?

We’ve a lot of fans (including me) who are uncomfortable with being owned by a nation state. And any private owner is going to have to raise 5 or 6 billion quid to buy the club. That’s a brutal outlay and it’s hard to see how that won’t involve more debt on the club and put us on the back foot in the transfer market.

So yeah, what are the thoughts on business as usual next season?

The same kind of mentality that people use to vote Tory, GOP, FG/FF

Well it is lad. The club is in debt and the stadium is crumbling but lets keep the current mob? feck no.

I'd still vote FF/FG if the alternatives kept slaves, treated women as second class citizens, were homophobic and implemented violent homophobic policy, and had links to funding terrorism though. Only one or two of those things are true for the current alternatives though :D

The Glazers would be far preferable than Qatari state-sponsored ownership for me personally. I would have to stop supporting if Qatar took over, certainly stop attending games. I just couldn't do it in good conscious. I don't understand the moral gymnastics people here are doing here when they say they'd be disappointed if Greenwood was brought back, but welcome the Qatar state in. To me that's a clear and obvious contradiction. I doubt I'd be able to completely stop supporting/following cold turkey but certainly with Qatari ownership each successive win just becomes increasingly hollow so it would happen eventually anyway. I don't like the Glazers and nearly anyone would be preferable so it's a shame it's come to this really.

More importantly to me, a few members of my family who I attend games with are likely on their way out soon. I'd like to continue attending games with them as long as possible as it's our tradition.
A few stiff drinks could fix that

Yeah because FG and FF are pure and innocent and never did anything wrong thats right. Glazers it is then for you. BTW there were no bigger terrorists in the world than your British empire Bono lad.

I was just making a joke, I have no horse in this race and just like to slag Renua :). I don't know who you're referring to with British empire Bono, but I haven't liked U2 since they forced that shite album on my iPod :).

At any rate, I'd take the Glazers over Qatari ownership for sure. @Raoul will vouch for me on that :D

Glazers, Ineos, Qatar, they’re all shit options for various reasons.

It’s like having to choose whether you want to be fecked by an angry rhino, Graham Souness or a rusty old saw.

Id prefer fan ownership but we dont always get what we want

When you say morals are a first world problem you lose all sense of credibility
Are you sure? I would’t think so, not in this case at least. Which billionaires own the club in the end means very little to me, but even if it did, the one’s trying to buy united aren’t half as bad as others already in the game. I can’t find enough of reason there to lead pointless discussions with other fans, just to go around in circles, never really reaching any serious conclusion. And even if we all, literally 500m of United fans thought exactly the same it would’t change or influence anything regarding the decision to whom the club is going to be sold. I don’t know how old you are, but not a single one of us wanted the feking Glazers takeover, just how now we don’t want state ownership, oil money, etc. So I restate, the same point, lets get this over with, when it’s done we can worry about morals, ethics and so on, but let me surprise you, it won’t matter one bit what you, your friends, family as well as other fans think. That’s just how life works unfortunately.
