Which films would you say are the best repeat watch films? By that I mean a film that you can watch once and maybe only partially get but things make more sense on the second viewing, either that or you pick up on little gags and jokes that you may have missed the first time round. I'll give some examples:

Hot Fuzz - lots of little references and gags to pick up on
Inception - makes more sense on second viewing
Shutter island - same as inception
Prestige - brilliant film which makes sense on second viewing

Any other good ones?

Is this different to films that you will watch over and over?

If I happen across Enter the Dragon, The Blues Brothers, The Thing, Southern Comfort I'll always keep watching it through to the end.

The Usual Suspects - my favourite movie ever, but surely one of the top candidates for this thread.

'Matrix Reloaded'. I'm serious, in first time I watched it I didn't like that much, but after some re-watching I changed my opinion on it. It's definitely the kind of movie who needs multiple watching to have a chance of understanding it. Again, not near as good as 'The Matrix' (whom I had watched 10 times, an absolute record for me), but much better than 'The Matrix Revolutions'.

'Star Wars' franchise is my favorite franchise of all time, and I watch all 6 episodes once a year (preferably in January). Every time I watch them I am very satisfied, and it's interesting that I find something new.

Yes, I kind of meant stuff you might miss on first viewing, or films with a plot twist that gets hinted at when you re watch the film

but the beauty of the film was the end when the cop finally realises about Verbal Kent

great movie but it loses something without the element of surprise/twist

Spoiler that shit! Well for me I can watch it over and over again and love it each time :D

Die hard which am going to watch tonight as I just saw it advertised. Terminator 2 I watch everytime its on. Once I even watched it then put it on plus 1 and watched it again.

Fixed.

Agreed with Matrix sequels, got all hyped for them at cinema and shit, enjoyed the feck out of them.....then bought the DVD's on first day, and was like "WHAT THE feck?" to myself. Biggest waste of £30 on DVD's ever.

As soon as you posted this, I immediately thought of Hot Fuzz. I don't know why. It's just that it's a very watchable film. You can watch it again several times and still have a chuckle at some of the jokes.

Die Hard

on TV now

Die Hard by far.

Then Star Wars, Platoon, True Lies, Dumb and Dumber, Grandma's Boy and some more fine comedies or mindless action flicks.

I got to explain to my yank wife what spit-roasting meant while watching this.

Not seen too many films, but Inception must be THE re-watchable film. There's so many parts you'll miss out first time round. I must have seen it at least five times and I'm still seeing things I've missed. What a film.

Are you talking about little things here, or do you see the movie in an entirely different way 2nd/3rd time round?

Pulp Fiction for me. There's Something About Mary never fails to disappoint either.

I'm with Pulp Fiction as well, I watched it literally more than fifty times at the very least.

Lock Stock, Snatch, Inception, Star Wars (original trilogy), Basic, The Negotiator, Serenity, Pulp Fiction.

Not saying they're all better the second time round but they're films I can re-watch again and again.
