Best first touches you've seen

this is the one i was referring to in my compilation of his touches ;). the little hand on the defender's face makes it look so much extra disrespectful

This is why I couldn't be a defender, the level of disrespect they're shown is just..:wenger:

I am not allowed to post videos but this thread is incomplete without Zinedine Zidane.
True! Perhaps an underrated player, but I've seen a lot of Barcelona in my younger days and I liked the first touches of Ronald de Boer. Awesome technique.

Never seen anything like Baggio’s Brescia goal, which I still rate as the best goal I’ve ever seen.

Certainly under-appreciated. I think he's the only player I've seen who took and scored an overhead (bicycle) kick on their weaker foot because the ball came across him from the other side.

What a player Salas was. One of the greatest chilean talents, able to do this ridiculous goal

Controlling a high speed ball with your thigh, and shooting before anyone expect it is something not many would dream of achieving

I have seen some crazy first touch from Ronaldo, Messi and Ronaldinho throughout the years, but none of them impressed me more than Berbatov.

Another one. Yes, I love those kind of threads. What I mean are not fancy or tricky movements but simple, great first touches that leave defenders for dead. Either at high speed without losing pace or after passes which were very hard to control. Touches that don't necessarily look that incredible in the first moment but immense in the replays.

Something like this:

In my opinion you just posted it. That's amazing!

Berbatov has the best first touch I've seen. Although his gangly frame makes it look better, I doubt it is actually any better than Messi, Mata or Silva.

Can someone post the video on ruud van nistelrooy's touch. It's called ruud van nistelrooy ball control skills. Amazing control. What a player. Love Ruuuuud!

Famous and brilliant goal but i have always thought that first touch was more luck than judgement. It looks like he was trying to bring it onto his left foot in between the defenders but got a lucky bounce off a miscontrol.

Move starts @ 2:27. RvN's touch of his chest was absolutely perfect there.

I honestly think that's one of the most overrated goals.

*goes into hiding*
Context though: it was in the final minutes of a World Cup quarter-final. Pulling that off in that situation is rather brilliant.

Another one from Messi:

And a brillant skill from Thiago:

I am not a fan of Raheem Sterling but his first touch is superb.
A lot of players have it, I don't find it that special.
Three pages and you see 30 different names have been mentioned.

Isn't it? Randomly came across that goal and decided such touches are worth a thread :D
It is. I'm pretty obsessed with good first touches, but I now believe the zenith of first touches was reached whenever it was that Bagio did that. You see Suarez, Bergkamp, Messi are all excellent efforts, but second touches were involved after taking an assured first touch. With this example, it's all one move! Incredible! :D

Berbatov had a great touch, but it's exagerrated massively on the internet by armchair fans.

He played the game at walking pace and a lot of the clips you see of him bringing the ball down happen when he's stationary. Trapping the ball on the run - or even more difficult, when you're going at full pace - is a much more impressive skill.

Thing is he can easily control while running too. Not over exaggerated, it's just a fact that is his main strength.

Sancho's first touch for his assist vs Leverkusen last season was pretty awesome. Controlled a long pass with the side of his foot perfectly while running at speed. Watch from 0.50 seconds onwards.
