Best Actor

Kevin Spacey is brilliant in American Beauty, that movie is awesome

American Beauty's well overrated

Very good, no question... but far from great

It isn't incredible, but still is a classic imo, some great scenes in that movie along with very good acting

Well, seeing as Crappy's pulled out, I don't see a problem in you stepping in. So basically, top 100, any genre, any language, but your top hundred has to be in order ie if you think for example Aguirre is the best film ever made, then it should be number one on your list. And yeah 31 Dec is the deadline.

Oh and are there any films you'd like to recommend?
Arrgh, in order. Alright. Recommendations (trying to avoid what's already been done):

Michael Hanneke: Hidden, Code Inconnu & The Piano Player.
Germans: Fassbinder: Fox and his Friends, The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. Wenders: The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty, The American Friend, Wings of Desire. Herzog: Aguirre & Fitzcarraldo.
60s British: If, This Sporting Life; Room at the Top, The Servant; The Go Between.
Cocteau: La Belle et La Bete & Orphee.
Nouvelle vague: Le samourai & Fahrenheit 451.
Carne & Prevert: Les Enfants du Paradis & Quai des Brumes.
Hard: Tarkovski's Solaris & Andrei Rubelov
Very hard: Renais' L'annee derniere en Marienbad

I thought more of the Insider in 1999

But for the best actor, well I don't know if he's the best, but a favorite of mine is Steve Buscemi. In 9 out of 10 movies he's in he's in a little role. Those 9/10 are furthermore often pretty shite but there are real gems in between.
The movies he stars in are often pretty, pretty good.

Good call on The Insider, great work by Crowe. I love Steve Buscemi class fecking actor, funny as hell, and did a great job in the Sopranos as Tony B. great actor

Watching Forrest Gump right now on A&E, what an incredible movie, I'm not the biggest Tom Hanks fan, but his acting in this movie is out of this world.

Gary Sinise also turns in a great performance as Lt. Dan

Solaris - Brilliant. I've got Andrei Rubelov on DVD. I thought The Mirror was fantastic too.

Les Enfants du Paradis was also brilliant, so I'll check out Quai des Brumes, no doubt.

Le Samourai - hopefully tomorrow.

Haven;t see the rest bar Wings of Desire, that said I think I've seen a movie by Haneke.

Herzog's definitely on my to see list though, been playing to watch his movies for ages.
