why are people going insane over this? i mean yeah he looks a good player. but not like a 70mil+ player

looking at his stats they are solid but not great. he would be a good buy for us too sure but not for that money.
some people here are insane how can you go mental just because city buy a player that was hardly known by anyone a year ago.

we will have a good window with the right players for us. you can't buy all of them.
Can you imagine the hype Falcao would be getting if he didn't already show he couldn't hack English football?
There are real dangers that Silva and Mendy could flop in England and Jose simply doesn't rate them to succeed.

Because they just got a potential future Ballon d'or winner for £43million. Doubt we could land Bruma or James for that.
How is it Woodward's fault though? You think he picks the targets? You think he should veto Mourinho's decisions and sign him anyway?

"Future Ballon D'or winner" - seems to be so many of those players going around that they'll need to turn it into a monthly award instead.

Assuming its like the Martial deal. Add-ons based on goals, appearances, possibly being best playeri n the world, etc. So could reach 70m and if it does, then City will be happy as that means hes being the player they wanted.
Will see how he does in the City team. Will be interesting to see who they sign for their defence as I still think they need:
GK, CB, LB, RB and another central midfielder for their starting line up.

I'm not so sure about this - he has had a decent season, but he is only 22 and yet to show consistency. To go for 70Million Euro+ I'd have hoped him to have been consistently superb, playing in a strong league. Yes he got 8 goals and nine assists this year, but League 1 has been really poor. Zlatan was knocking in 40+ goals a season for fun when at PSG, at a time when the league was stronger. He could be good, could be mediocre - there is an element of 'gambling' in this and no guaranteed success.

Looking at how he'd fit in for us... yes he is quick and skillful, but he is not a big guy (nicknamed little Messi for a god reason as he is physically pretty small). I am not sure how he'd stand up to the increased physicality and pace/pressing of the Premier League. From watching him this season, I am not sure he's a player that Jose would be really interested in.

I may be totally wrong on this, but I'm far from heart broken.

Careful with microwave references, the brits won't like the lack of kettle usage.

Popcorn in a kettle? Possibly the weirdest thing I've heard in this thread

Gutted but Griezmann is first choice. Smashing player and will light the league up.

Small technical attackers that can dribble thrive in the Premier league, they are protected more then they ever have been before. There's a reason City win half of their games by a penalty goal and we have had like 2 all season.

Why do people keep saying we missed out when it doesn't even seem like Jose wanted him?

Because they wanted him which obviously means so did everyone at united

Great singing for city. Those who are saying he can't cut it in a physical league probably said the same about david silva and clearly haven't seen Bernardo play. Classy player.

Do city need him? They already have Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling and Sane. And Bernardo is very like Silva in playing style.

Each post below is from a different match day thread
*Drum roll*
I'm honored you took the time darling.

Anyway...we didn't have a great season in the league so i wasn't so far off though. If that's comparable to some losing their sh.. over a player we might not be in for that's fair enough if you think so.

Really good signing for City. The meltdown is in full flow in here. Some embarrassing posts, the toys are being thrown out of the pram. City were always going to spend big this summer, they were going to bring in some quality. We need to see what United do. I'm sorry but I genuinely don't think he would have went to them if we wanted him. He's Portuguese, mendez is his agent and United are so much bigger. We are looking for something else, let's wait and see. I'm more interested who city are going to bring in at the back and in nets. We won a European trophy two nights ago and the amount of spoilt fans in here is a disgrace. I believe in Jose and Woodward, they got the right recruitment in last year. We are in a much better position this time around, people should be more optimistic. Being jealous of a small club that can't even fill there stadium and won feck all again, going to be a fecking summer for some.

One thing you can say about Pep is that he looks like he's in it for the long haul, lots of young talent he's been buying.

Why do people keep saying we missed out when it doesn't even seem like Jose wanted him?

Because United is after every player and we are supposed to be favorite for everyone. Not only we missed out but Woodward bottled it.

Oh well, can't sign every good player. That being said, this seemed like a cert for our new wide player. Wonder who we will end up getting since he's gone now.

Didnt RMC/Bouhafsi say in that piece earlier in the morning that we were indirectly interested in him when they say "City a raflé la mise sur United"

Strongly linked with him, but when you look at it, is he really a Mourinho type player?

Very good dribbler, but he lacks the explosiveness that Jose likes in his attacking players. Willian, Di Maria, Hazard, etc all have that.

If Mourinho is going to buy a wide player, I think he'll want a player with more speed and directness than Silva. We've recently been linked with Moura. I'd be underwhelmed if we got Moura, however, I expect us to be targeting players of that ilk on the wing.

United monitored him in the past years but it doesn't mean that he was in the final list, United probably monitor hundreds of players.

Chelsea were also linked.

I get all that but some posters are fair enough in stating they wished he was coming here the kids a potential top 5 in the world imo. I'm gutted City have him as I think he'll play and fit well in their midfield. Looks a top acquisition by City. But you're right we can't sign everyone.

The list was amusing but pretty harsh. I personally don't think any of them are embarrassing; just a bit pessimistic.

Could be, but after the report last week from Canal+ that we were in advanced talks, would suggest we were more than only monitoring him. Maybe we got thumped by City or maybe we pulled out and City was his second choice, but i really think he was a possible target at some point

I admit to being relentless in the match-day forum but that's it.
And @Party Boy I'm pretty sure there are plenty of posters you can find a similar post history from.

Maybe or Canal had a bad source.

Ok this move makes me sick to my stomach.

B.Silva is a playmaker of the highest order, he is such a good dribbler, he has such a beautiful style and now he goes to City next to KDB, D.Silva, Sane, Jesus, Aguero what a fotward lineup they will be able to set up.... feck this....

I really wanted him at United but if he wasnt coming here I could live with it but him going to City is like the worst thing that could have happened. I'am devasted

Our problem really isnt only finishing chances it is also creating them. We could really have used a playmaker like him. Will be golden for City and for years to come. Bet they have just signed one of the absolute best and most beautiful players for the PL for years to come.

Feck it...

Griezmann alternative, might mean that the Griezmann deal gathered a bit of steam so we ended our interest leaving City with a clear run, or they acted quickly so we couldn't come back to it if that deal falls through.

We'll have to wait and see...

I don't think we're after a new wide player. Mourinho seems to be after 3-4 players. I imagine that's Cb, Mf, Cf. Then possibly a fourth if DDG leaves.
