regarding berb medical at city. think that was a mistake by the talksport presenter as thats the only source. so dont worry.

Tottenham are reportedly demanding clarification after it was claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson personally picked up Dimi Berbatov from Manchester Airport and delivering him to Manchester United's training ground.

Having previously reported the champions to the Premier League for tapping up Berbatov, Tottenham remain adamant that they have not given United permission to talk to their striker. It is understood that, even with the transfer window due to close in a few hours' time, an improved offer from Old Trafford for the Bulgarian has yet to be tabled. Nonetheless, after flying to Manchester in a private jet, Berbatov has been spotted at Carrington, United's training ground, and is believed to have successfully undergone a medical.

According to BBC Radio Five Live, Tottenham are 'urgently' investigating reports that it was Ferguson himself who collected Berbatov at Manchester Airport earlier this afternoon. In a further unexpected twist, Manchester City boss Mark Hughes announced a few hours previously that, in the wake of the club's takeover, Spurs had accepted their bid for Berbatov and he hoped to speak to the player later in the day.

Imagine the irony if get Berbatov for 35 million and then we miss out on the league title by one point...........one more goal against Newcastle would have won us the league.....that will teach us for pissing around all summer.

Berbatov latest: Star undergoing medical...

Reports are claiming that despite United not having permission to speak to Dimitar Berbatov, the player is undergoing a medical at a South Manchester hospital with a view to a move to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, rivals Manchester City are still hoping to scupper the Berbatov transfer after having a £30m+ bid accepted by Spurs for the Reds top summer target. However, giving the timing with only a few hours left on transfer deadline day it seems ulikely that City will be successful in the attempts hi-jack Berbatov's move to Old Trafford.

Rumours, rumours, rumours

you dont think we can afford 45m?

weve bought no one this summer, weve got a lot off our wage bill, we won the champions league, and the premiership and obviously qualified for the champions league, we have enough to splash out

We could afford it. But we need to be sensible at the same time. I'm sure we know our limits and so we should.

How's the hell can we do a medical to a player if we haven't yet been given permission to talk to him?

Tapping when the report is that spurs have accepted an offer? THey are shopping the player so If the player shows up and gets a medical on his own dime then who cares

We wouldn't have done it without any permission. Maybe they gave permission and then tried to withdraw it when the Citeh offer came in? And we're pretending we didn't receive the withdrawal? There are top lawyers at the club, I can't believe we'd just flagrantly break the rules.

I'm essentially making this up as I go along. Any newspaper editors out there fancy hiring me?

We haven't broken any rules because Fergie didn't speak to him.

He wrote everything down on paper

The only way I can see how he's done a medical with us without having permission to talk to him is the following...

Spurs agree to let him do the medical, so that if we agree a fee with them with a few minutes remaning, he would be our player. It becomes a problem haggling over the price and then not having enough time to complete the deal (medical, etc).

Reports are saying that Sir Alex Ferguson has kidnapped Dimitar Berbatov in an attempt to stop Man City from signing him.

BBC Radio 5 Live football reporter Nigel Adderley said that Berbatov being seen at United's training ground on Monday could be a potential cause of trouble for the Premier League champions.

In July, Spurs submitted a year's worth of evidence to the Premier League to support their complaint of Manchester United's "disgraceful" pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov.

"I understand Spurs haven't granted United permission to talk with with the player," he said.

"The only bid they have approved is from Manchester City, believed to be around £34m."

Breaking News

Hurricane Gustav swirled violently ashore Monday, turning lights out across the Gulf Coast and sending water over the tops of New Orleans' levees, officials said.

Hundreds of thousands lose power as Gustav pounds coast

In Biloxi, Mississippi, iReporter Kevin Wise, who lives two blocks from the beach, said Gustav had pushed the Gulf waters into a highway about 100 yards from the normal shoreline.

"On the beach, it was blowing hard enough that you had to squat down to take a picture, it could pretty much throw you around," he told CNN. Wise said he and his wife ignored mandatory evacuation orders for his area.

At noon CT, the storm's eye was about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southeast of Morgan City, Louisiana, and 65 miles west-southwest of New Orleans, forecasters said.

Winds were sending whitecaps over levees in New Orleans, but the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reported no major problems.
