Campbell key to Berbatov capture
Manchester United are willing to offer Frazier Campbell plus cash in exchange for Dimitar Berbatov to Tottenham.

Both clubs have been locked in a transfer wrangle over the Bulgarian for several months now and United are desperate to sign him before the transfer deadline.

The Red Devils have failed to match Spurs' valuation of the striker believed to be US$51million (£28m) and now they will offer Campbell in addition to US$45million.

It is understood that Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to part with Campbell if it will guarantee Berbatov's arrival at Old Trafford, as he had been considering a US$12.7million (£7m) bid from Hull City for the 20-year-old.

The England U21 forward impressed during his loan spell with the Tigers last season, scoring 15 goals as he helped them to the top-flight for the first time in their 104-year history.

Phil Brown is eager to bring Campbell back to the KC Stadium, but the Huddersfield-born hitman now looks to be headed for White Hart Lane instead.

Thus, Berbatov is set to finally complete his dream switch to United in a deal worth around US$54.7 million. He will agree personal terms this evening and is likely to make his debut against Liverpool on September 13

I'll be annoyed if this is true.

Campbell looks as if he's going to be a Premiership level striker of the future.

Berbatov is not worth this much sacrifice.

Last week, I was sure we'd sign him.

I am now not so sure. One thing I am sure of though, is Spurs getting a complete leathering at Chelsea today

Like football never say never until the last minute but this is beginning to look like a draw.

Shite story.

Why would we offer Campbell + 25m for Berbatov when we can get 7m from Hull for Campbell and pay Spurs the 28m they are demanding for Berba ?

thats what I initially thought but its probably £23m + campbell if its true at all.

and all the figures of what we've offered and what they want are hypothetical anyway, no one knows how far apart our valuations of berbatov are.

I'd hate to see Campbell go, but to be honest. I think he would do extremely well at a club such as Spurs.

Ramos blames Berbatov

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has conceded the uncertainty over Dimitar Berbatov's future has affected the side's form.

Spurs go into Sunday's clash at London rivals Chelsea rooted to the bottom of the table after two defeats in their opening two fixtures.

Their start to the campaign has been overshadowed by the ongoing transfer saga involving Berbatov's possible move to Manchester United.

Ramos expects Berbatov's future to be resolved one way or the other before the transfer window slams shut on midnight on Monday and he blames the saga for Tottenham's results so far this season.

Resolution
"You get the feeling that the sooner the whole thing is finished the better," said Ramos when asked about Berbatov.

"The chapter finally closes with the end of the transfer market. I think there is going to be lots of reasonably furious action between now and then."

The Spaniard admitted the unwelcome distraction of Berbabtov's future had affected the whole squad.

"Without a doubt, it has had an awful lot to do with the start to the season," added Ramos.

Affected
"With the comings and goings, players are obviously trying their best to concentrate 100 per cent but I think it has affected things slightly with their work on the training ground and even going into games. It has been affected by this.

"It would have been great to have been a lot calmer. But you have to grin and bear it and get on with things.

"Certainly the ideal situation is that you get your squad settled early, you work with all the players in the pre-season period."

The reason Spurs are shit is that there is nobody in the midfield who dares put their foot in for a challenge.

It is not Berbatov who has affected this with his desire to move to a bigger club, it's Levy and the Spurs board. This could have been sorted weeks ago but their ongoing quest for a few extra million has all but ruined Spurs start for the season. This crap about getting in replacements is stupid, Berbatov hasn't played for them in this period anyway, what use has he been? None. They could've sold him weeks ago, had the cash to spend and none of the distraction.

Spurs fault. End Of.

The reason Spurs are shit is that there is nobody in the midfield who dares put their foot in for a challenge.

That is true. But their best player acting the bollox doesn't help things either. Spurs are going to be shit this year.

By the end of the day
0 points from 3 games
Its not my fault ITS THAT BERBA bloke
I have created a great team
It is completely his fault that my team to lose all the time

Thank you and goodbye
Ramos

However if the unimaginable happens and they beat Chelski I will be delighted
Ideal scenario
Hat trick By Berbatov
and then sign for us in the morning

It's not Berbatov's fault that Tottenham Hotspur are Tottenham Hotspur.

if we sign him, will it be tomorrow now?

I am getting increasingly worried and anxious about this whole thing... and ill say it again if we dont sign berbatov we wont win the league, chelsea are looking too strong with too many option... quote me on that

OK I will.

Hopefully progress will be made today and Berbatov will sign at some point tomorrow.

If he doesn't I will be pissed for 2 weeks until we destroy Liverpool at Anfield:D Then I'll realise that we're Manchester United, current holders of the Premier League and Champions League:D

Berba needs us, not vice-versa.

The only problem with that is, that if we don't sign him and we don't win the league, there is no way knowing whether it was because we didn't sign him.

Likewise, if we DO sign him and win the league, again, there is no way of knowing whether we would have won it without him.

So what?

Surely it's about giving us the best possible chance of winning the league? Trying to work out exactly how much an individual player has contributed is pointless.

If we do sign Berbatov and he scores 20 goals, with assists in double figures (which is not unlikely, IMO) he will have been an excellent signing.

It really suits Spurs to make him the scapegoat for their shit start to the season, doesn't it? He has Woodgate doing his own impression of the "I'm a BIG MAN" speech, seemingly every day, and a manager who knows he wants this whole thing sorted, but doesn't seem to realise that when you pack your midfield with midgets and players who couldn't even pass water, you're going to get beaten often enough, with or without Berbatov.

Considering your age and physical attributes, I say you won't survive two weeks of heavy drinking. :(

this saga is the worst ever, many people will be mad or sad if we dont get Berba. I just have to say feck spurs.
