I think another user mentioned this and I think its exactly what will happen.

Our next game in the league after Portsmouth is on the 13th of September. So I think United are just holding out to get him at the price they want. After the Portsmouth game it wont matter when we get him.

Even if he was bought on the 31st of August he would still have 2 weeks to train with the squad till the next game.

Quite right. We discussed this about 87 pages back (surprised you missed it). It's an obvious strategy. We're in no rush. Spurs REALLY don't want a double sulky berb on their hands all season. Even if we signed him now I wouldn't want him in the Pompei game anyway. We're not that desperate. So the balls in Spurs court and that's what we're waiting on. It's who blinks first and we've got the aces.
