Benni McCarthy leaves United

Great job by Benni

Now Rashford has to work on his finishing and especially his striking technique of the ball.

The kid is nutmeg every strike, not even trying to maybe target the ball with a finesse shot to the far corner.

What a signing I have absolute no doubt that rashfords form is alot to do with Benni. The movement and finishing is very similar to Benni as a player.

Clearly he's doing something, and it's something that I like. Great observation by me there

100%. People saying it's just "a good environment" and trust from ETH as to why Rashford has exploded are doing a disservice to the actual improvement as a player that Rashford has experienced. It's quite clear it's influenced by Benni as well.

"Good environment" and "team spirit" are major myths. They are created by winning if you are winning you will get along with people you can't stand when you arent winning it highlights how much you think someone is a cnut. It's down to coaching and hard work on the training ground. It's clear to see.

Coaches don't really "teach" skills at this level do they? I think it's all about enabling the player to succeed. More so mentally as well? Benni McCarthy is doing something right for sure!

I'm convinced McCarthy has had a huge influence on Rashford. Anther excellent coaching staff addition by ETH

They'll still help them with how and when to shoot, where to aim etc. That's clear from Rashford this season. In his last purple patch he was still shite 1v1 but now he is slotting them home regularly, despite not being a particularly natural finisher.

He’s definitely done some magic with Rashford, I mean he’s even scoring headers now. That’s surely coming from the striker coach.

It undoubtedly is Benni's influence at work here but Rashford himself has physically filled out this year. He looks much stronger which will improve his leap and his hang time as well as the power of his headers. Kudos to both of them and long may it continue.

That tie still hurts to this day. That season champions league was ours if we had won against Porto. Going 1-0 ahead at their home, cruising nicely until that shit Brazilian and benni McCarthy scored. The less said about the 2nd leg the better.

I think it's more small adjustments, hip movements, body position, starting position etc.

I think attacking coaches are the highest facilitators for goalscoring success. Just look at how poorly we started in attack in 2007-08 versus how we finished it. Barely scoring at the start versus scoring loads at the end. Would Ronaldo have scored even half of what he did if it wasn't for Ole working with him that season?

Not every day you see a regular coach get a shout out from the clubs social media, and he didn’t even play for us.

I mean the things that Rashford is doing now are things he NEVER did in previous seasons so whoever is to thank, it’s definitely down to coaching (and good application and mentality from Marcus).

Nice to see him getting his flowers, Rashford's meteoric improvement has definitely coincided with him joining the backroom staff.

If he is getting credited for transforming Rashford (which could well be the case), why isn’t he receiving criticism for not getting a tune out of anyone else? Because bar Rashford the finishing has been terrible this season.

If he was any good he'd turn Phil Jones into Pele

Can't tell if this is a serious post

Rashford apart the goal output has been poor from the other attackers. 41 goals from 42 xG is an underperformance for a team of United’s calibre. Rashford has 14G from 10 xG which means the rest have 27G from 32 xG.

Last season we scored 57 from an xG of 57. Sure we’re scoring 1.7 this year vs 1.5 last year but overall our finishing is on the same level as 21/22.

So happy for him especially as a coach that was working in an Africa league. Hell of a inspiration to go from where he was and being looked at as an important piece of the coaching staff at Manchester United. Learning from ETH and the other coaches will no doubt help in his own managerial stint in Europe whenever he decides to pursue a head coaching job.
