City, Liverpool, and Spurs, have top goal scorers and unless we bring in a top goalscoring CF we will fall further behind these 3, and have a huge fight for top 4 again.
I agree. Ronaldo can obviously do a great job, but it’s not clear what will happen there. Martial have been very good and positive this preseason, but he can fall of the happy wagon imo. That leaves us very short and I think we need to add a forward. Sesko could be a very smart signing. Will not demand to play every match either.

Well we haven't decided to sell Ronaldo yet have we? Which is why we have been looking at young strikers who could develop (which was stated as what we were looking for at the start of the window)

Napoli bought Osimhen for €80m and would presumably want a bit more on top. I can't see that we'll have the money for that if we're still looking at De Jong and/or Antony.

Everything suggests these provisions are being put in place on the proviso Ronaldo leaves. Mendes has been whoring Ronaldo out for most of the summer and reports in Spain suggest Atleti will be in for him if they can shift a couple of players.
It would be Martial and Sesko as the striker options if he signs. I'm confident of that.
I understand the signings like the ones you mention because you know what you get(hopefully). That said, I love an exciting young forward myself. Sesko fit the bill imo.

I agree. I think best we could get is unproven talent like Sesko, but then coming up with a fair fee for him would be tricky, as no way he is worth what he is reportedly priced at (50m).
And if Ronaldo does leave, I think we should try to get Icardi for loan or something too, as he is at least proven, but past 2 season he has been in poor form at PSG.
I’d wager Sesko is an alternative to the overpriced Antony and not Ronaldos replacement. But if Ronaldo leaves we may need to rethink. We’re supposedly after 2 forwards. And Sesko links started around the time the Antony deal seemed to die.

Yes, I know how much they paid, but I’d say a bit over 80 million for Osimhen is better value than 55 for Sesko. I think if you sign a right winger and FDJ then the CF might be at the lower end of the market (like Kaladzic or maybe Jovic). I get the sense FDJ / Antony won’t happen.
What do you base that on? Half a game in a pre season friendly game and a few youtube highlights? If anyone think's he's going to replace Ronaldo, they're a tad

Agreed. I want us to find the next big thing before he is the next big thing. I want us to sign a player for a tiny fee and he turns into a world class player.

It's all about finances. We don't have enough money to do everything in one window so they're scratching around trying to get the best they can, knowing full well FDJ is priority number one and theoretically hitting the budget.

Who should be that striker when he leaves
In fairness, the club had one of the most exciting forwards in world football. Short term signings while he developed were fine. No one could envision how that would end up.
I mean unless we are operating without a budget it wouldn't make much sense to sign a striker with Ronaldo and Martial still in the club and other positions needing more urgent reinforcement.
The only way signing him while Ronaldo and Martial are still here makes sense is if the club really likes him and he's about to be snapped up by another club similar to the Malacia deal. I don't think that's the case though. So maybe he's the alternative to Antony, meaning we wouldn't sign a right winger if we get him.
