Benjamin Sesko | Despite Raees best efforts he’s joining Liepzig. Damn you Raees

He's not going to get more expensive than 55m playing in the Austrian bundesliga
True, but if he has a stormer this season, other big clubs will get interested in him and we may not be able to get him. By all accounts, Real Madrid, Barca and Bayern all will probably need a striker in the next 1-2 years.

Only heard of him last week when I bought Adeyemi on FM and this lad then put three past de Gea in a friendly the following week

He had a release clause…

Besides, striker prices have exploded and Salzburg have built a good reputation of nurturing very bright talents.

He also has a long contract and at the moment there seems to be no talk of a release clause. Their season has already started. The player will be a regular in the team possibly in CL as well, so other than salary also no need to rush anything from the players side.

Salzburg have countless reasons to ask for a very high price if they were to sell him this summer.
Spin it how you like, £55m for a 19 year old who has played 38 matches of Austrian first league football is audacious. Adeyemi went for nearly half of that and he had triple the games under his belt.

Not seen him play, but wasn’t Adeyemi much more highly rated?

You’re looking at it only from a United POV. As you correctly stated, they have already sold Adeyemi, a much more important player for them, for a reasonable sum this year. So the price is not a „piss-take“. They don’t want to sell Adeyemis successor in the same window, especially not when the season has already started. Hence it would take silly money to convince them to change their stance. Bit similar to Ajax with Antony.

People complaining that the club is reluctant to spend big on Sesko yet if they are honest they had no idea who he was until the other day.

Classic Caf

Think pretty much everyone is stunned with that price tag. It's not a price tag, it is a clear "feck off" sign.

The boy will only get more expensive next summer.

Maybe but he's likely have played about 30 more matches than he will here and scored a lot more goals. The progress will do him good and we'd be signing a much better player, assuming he actually does well. He currently has 6 goals in 26, a plenty of time before he's a 20 goal premier league striker if ever

So it is a piss take, got you

Ridiculously overrated fee. Insultingly so.

On no planet is he worth that especially when Adeyemi went for £27m.

Ffs, probably just their opening demand but still ridiculous. Hard to believe we'll get any fee below £30m if they're quoting that. Don't think it's worth it unfortunately. A shame because he looked quite exciting. Think we should be looking at the loan market for this season tbh. More and more clubs appear to be taking this approach and when you see fees like this you can understand why.

The media is just riding on the Sesko story after the Liverpool game. We have already been in contact and we know what is his value.

Shame, about the high price, as he looks great. You don't see a first touch that good very often.

Sadly if we don't get him now, he'll probably be out of our league by next summer.

A good gamble for 25-30 but for more than that it starts to make less sense.

Offer them like 30 and loan them one of our young lads, pellestri, amad or Elanga.

Are people so desperate for Sesko? He still needs to develop further and Sazlburg is the best place for him next season. If he comes here, he wont have time to develop and the pressure is different. Relax guys.

I'm sure I'm not the only FM player who knows this kid is gold....on FM anyway!
Yes, United legend in my save. Although we were taken to the cleaners in the game as well where we spent 70m on him but that was in 2025. So art imitating life or rather life imitating art? :wenger:

It is going to be hard for us to break away from the reputation we have built up for being bent over and bullied with transfer fees (in and out, ooo-er missus) especially as we have just spunked £55m on Martinez (I am happy we have the player but??)

5+ years of paying over the odds, UTD tax is not going anywhere soon, unfortunately we do not (cough er- city cough) have owners that are willing to reduce the upfront costs by dodgy dealings elsewhere, "ok sell to us for 50P and we will sponsor your shoelaces for £100m".

We should pay Barcelona to broker players signings for us
