Ben Yedder | Monaco set to activate release clause?

It's interesting how low-profile his career has been before Sevilla. I think he was scoring consistently for Toulouse in his last couple of seasons, yet his name was barely mentioned anywhere.

Valencia were strongly linked with him, thats where I started to look him up. As has been the case several times Sevilla ended up signing the player Valencia were strongly linked with. Exactly the same story with Gameiro, Valencia were linked with signing him so I looked him up and then he ended up signing for Sevilla instead and doing well there

I like this option. If Ole wants to back Rashford as his first choice number 9 we could do with an experienced striker in the squad who knows where the goal is as insurance. Yedder fits that mould and at a reasonable price.

If we can offload Lukaku for a decent price then we will have refreshed our striking options (with Greenwood added into the mix to make the 4) and made a bit of transfer profit to invest in other areas.

I’d have Ben Yedder start on the right of Rashford, and Martial on left. But it would be an interchangeable front 3. It’s more like 3 forwards, rather than saying lw, st and rw.

Yeah but he really should do as it would help bring Rashford and Martial as well as others into play, I feel we've needed one since Zlatan left.

And Haller is a lot more technical, athletic and mobile than people think. Rebic and Jovic greatly benefited from having Haller.

He would be a downgrade on Lukaku. Had a great season last year and knows where the goal is but overall he's definitely a level below Lukaku.

Lukaku is poor in play build up, poor in one touch passing and dribblling, he's very comfortable when he manage to control the ball in the wing and run away with it, he needs lands of space in front of him to really shine. That's why he underperformed in Chelsea and with us and was a star at Everton and West brom.

Ben Yedder has comparable goal scoring records to Lukaku, and proven European scorer who scores and play with both feet, and is more capable on and off the ball, able to dribble, fantastic at link up and one touch play. And swapping Lukako for him would free approximately 40 millions for other positions.

But sure, he's a downgrade!

If we manage to get Ben Yedder that would be a great signing. It will have a Berba effect. Somebody who is actually capable to hold the ball on his feet, shake the defenders off and make a decent pass to our pacy players, and is also capable of scoring 20+ goals.

He will replace what we miss in both Sanchez and Lukaku. Maybe not Sanchez pace or Lukaku's strength, but definitely Sanchez' build up and more than Lukaku's goals.

La Colina de Nervion seems to be the actual source, anyone got a clue about their reliability?

Maybe this guy can be a stop gap for 3-4 years while Rashford gets more time to get his shit together and Greenwood get's the time to add some muscle.

In same way Maraca is for Real Madrid. They are pretty reliable for Sevilla FC

If he has a 40m release clause then it seems a great option. I’m sure he’d be OK with being a rotation option and he seems a high work ethic striker which is what ole wants.

I think we should aim higher. I doubt Rashford - Yedder - Martial will be enough to get us back to the top. Our competitors for the top 4 all have better strikers bar Chelsea maybe.

Energetic, very good on the ball, scored 30 last season. A much better fit for us then Lukaku.

I imagine we'll have to wait for the Lukaku sale to go through before this will take place.

I get what you mean, but you have to develop your own world class striker. For now, there is no better striker we can get under 50m, it is just the way things are. It will take years to challenge for the top, next season is all about making steps forward and finishing top 4, as sad as it is.

He's never really impressed me tbh, even when he was knocking us out of the Champions League. I'd take him as a cheap option, but if we've got to break the bank for him I don't see the point. He'll be 29 by the time the season starts, and isn't really good enough now. 27 goals in La Liga in the last 2 seasons doesn't suggest he'd be prolific in an even tougher league.

Do you consider £40m breaking the bank? Also, breaking the bank got us Lukaku. It means nothing.

Great not having to watch Lukaku drag his ass around this place one more season. Ben Yedder is an upgrade to this place.

It's on the verge, but realistically there aren't many better options around this summer. I'm not saying don't break the bank, and I'm not saying do. I'm saying that I wouldn't want to pay over the odds for a player who isn't all that anyway. That's just being sensible.

This. I have always rated him. He is also not the superstar type, even though he could have been.

I’d be excited about this signing and yeah your right he doesnt have the X factor of some of big names, but he is mobile, a strong finisher, can link up play and has a 5atar weakfoot. I think he would suit us really well.

Really good deal if the price is right and we lose lukaku.

Villa just bought an unknown lad from Belgium for 30m, I’d say 40 for him is a snip

I am pretty sure we have seen the last of Lukaku. I like Lukaku, but he doesn’t fit the football we want to play. Yedder would be a smart move. He has exactly what we need.

Maybe we will bring in both Haller (or someone similar) and Ben Yedder? We will probably ship out both Lukaku and Sanchez.

It will not be easy to get rid of Sanchez I am afraid. I hope I am wrong about that.

Haller looks like a good player. Could be worth a punt.

It will not. His performance for Chile might help us. 30 and no transfer fee might be tempting for a team who can afford high wages but will struggle with a transfer. We will probably have to pay some. Sanchez will probably have to take a small hit.

And it helps that part of his salary is related to performances and number of games.

Yeah it could be a way out for us if we and he makes a good deal for all parties.

I have a feeling we might give him a last chance. If we do, I hope the guy has it in him. He looks a bit lost on the highest level imo.

It's amazing the depth France have upfront. If Ben Yedder was English he'd have 50 + caps by now.

You have first choices of Giroud, Griezmann and Mbappe in front three. If any of them are injured then Martial and Lacazette would get call ups.

Then in next tier Haller, Gamiero and Ben Yedder all have very few caps despite all three having excellent scoring records in major leagues.

Interesting when even the major nations like Brazil Germany and Spain are struggling to produce pure number 9s and France have about 7 in reserve.

Ben Yedder and Haller would be great buys if we can sell Lukaku and Sanchez.

A front 3 of Haller, Ben Yedder and Rashford can work. Just look at Frankfurt’s front 3 with Rebic and Jovic, which are not known to be natural wingers. But yet, they complimented each other very well. 3 forwards that had chemistry and understood each other’s movement, that’s what we need to build on.

From the videos, Ben Yedder often attacks from the right. And we know Rashford likes to cut in from the left to get on his right foot, same for Martial.

Besides, if we get Bruno, he can drift at times on the right corridor and build up play with AWB.

We needed someone that will bring maturity and consistency to our attack and link up play, he will fit in well with Rashford and Martial who are still young and inconsistent to hold our attack.
