Ben Shapiro

I've seen the clip. Entrenches my thinking that a lot of these conservative American talk show hosts won't survive in Europe. Andrew Neil, a liberal leftie....

Has he never experienced a journalist taking an opposite stance in the interest of discussion before?:wenger:

Can we keep these American conservative types off our airwaves.
When they step out of their American bubble they tend to embarrass themselves even more.

His voice is annoying

Such a shame that he left so soon, you get the feeling he was about to be severely embarrassed. Perhaps he cottoned onto that...

Mr 'facts don't care about your feelings' certainly got his feelings hurt.

Youtube vids with these kind of titles start popping up
Ben Shapiro gets DESTROYED by conservative BBC journalist Andrew Neil

I don't follow American politics, but just caught the interview with Andrew Neil. I don't know anything about Shapiro, but he came across like a spoilt, arrogant little arsehole.

On a side note, I just read that Shapiro thought Batman v Superman was a good film. His need to be a cnut on every single level is nearly inspiring.

I don't know Ben Shapiro but he got absolutely roasted by Neil.

“I don’t know anything about Shapiro, but I know everything about Shapiro.” Nicely done, sir

You’re absolutely right on that point

That interview just highlights how terrible American MSM really is.

It's a indictment on both Shapiro and state of American media that his reaction to being challenged on his views from a middle-ground perspective (in UK terms) is to cry bias. I'm not a big Andrew Neil fan, as his right-wing bias does come out a lot, but he did his job there and deserves credit.

I do think there's a danger in taking this interview as an example of why debating the far-right is a good thing though. A robust interview with a brat like Shapiro is one thing, but often you have far more savvy operators being handed far softer interviews. Those situations have allowed the far-right to get extreme views with no factual basis into the national dialogue. The BBC is hugely responsible for the rise of the right in this country by their constant platforming of Farage, Boris Johnson and their ilk and their failure to adequately challenge them. Neil has been as guilty of that as anyone.

So he is famous and has millions of viewers because he is a random dude talking about politics? What exactly makes him different to the next random guy in the pub again?

He’s more disingenuos, has a more annoying voice and a more punchable face than the average pub pleb.

Apparently, he is the Lionel Messi of debating.
