Would you be happy to see Jose Mourinho become next United manager?

I could see him giving Carrick a one year deal straight away. If he were to approach it like his Madrid 11/12 side it would probably look something like:

De Gea
Darmian - Smalling - ?????? - Shaw
Carrick - Schneiderlin
Lingard - Rooney - Martial
Rashford
.

I'll be so, so disappointed if this is our starting 11 next season!

Need RB/RW/No 10/Striker!

Even with that team and Rojo next to Smalling i think we'd see an instant improvement just by changing the playing style. Obviously we'll need reinforcements too.

Whatever impression you get is your business.

Is it? I'm not the one who's in such a rush to tell everybody in here just how far ahead of themselves they are.

You're entitled to your opinion, don't get me wrong, but do you genuinely still believe that the club hasn't made up its mind? Even now when it's the last day of our season.

You're probably right, but it's entirely possible that all we need is an effective manager. Guess we'll find out soon enough

We've seen what kind of positive reaction a good manager can have on a average squad like Klopp at Liverpool but for me the likes of Lingard, Carrick and Rooney (as a number 10) can and should all be improved upon during the summer.

I doubt that. The midfield has no creativity and Carrick now has no legs, while Lingard and Rooney are just awful.

I can see Schneiderlin returning to the level of performance ulat Southampton under Mourinho, he's just his kind of player, interesting to see what he makes of Herrera too, again he certainly has the aggressiveness and work rate Mourinho likes.

It is happening.

Howard Nurse: United are set to replace Ron Atkinson with the charismatic Alex Ferguson.

Who said anything about the club not having made up their mind? I said there's no verifiable evidence as yet, which is a totally different matter.

What's got two thumbs and is coming to fix United?

You've said there's no 'verifiable evidence' about eleventy thousand times.

The only thing you can call verifiable evidence is an official announcement, at which point the speculation is over.

Yep, I think we'll see him star next season.

Can we all agree if it does happen we will never turn on him and understand the first season won't be good as he tries to work out the squad? and we won't get bored of his defensive/winning style of football because im genuinely expecting a Mourinho out thread the day he signs, we got spoiled by fergie and for about the next generation we won't be able to accept another manager as our own. mourINiho.

beIN Sports are very reliable

Expect an announcement very soon

You promise? I only ever believe the BBC nowadays, been burnt by everyone else including the once reliable Sky sports news. I really don't get the timing, surely woodward isn't tapping up Mourinho the day before the final, you'd think it was either done earlier in the week or would happen next week but on the eve of the game is strange.

Well, yes. So you're annoyed at me for saying something you already know to be true. If it annoys you so much, don't read my posts.

While no one can be certain whether Mou would get rid of Failini I have yet to recall a player of his style in his system. Usually Mou played on a defensive minded players who tend to be comfortable with the ball (ex Khedira. Matic and Zanetti) who would tend be played with a less defensive minded midfielder (but who can still defend) whose got more vision and talent (Xabi Alonso and Cambiasso). Occasionally he's gone to 4-3-3 with a DM (ex Matic, Makalele) and 2 attacking minded CM (Fabregas, Oscar, Lampard, Ballack). None of these players were known for being just good in air and in elbowing people

You did, not too long ago...

I honestly don't think any decision has been made yet one way or the other. I've always thought we'd do the same as we did with Moyes - wait until 4th is unattainable. The only difference is that this time we have to wait until the last game of the season to establish that.

The club hasn't decided to let go of Van Gaal because City got a point off Swansea last Sunday. People can trot out that line all they like but it's not how a football club (not one like United) operates.

This has been in place for months and short of an official announcement on the United website I'm not sure how much more verifiable proof you want. A lot of reporters from various countries have put their name to this story, and they're not all extracts from the Daily Express either.

Let's hope he can restore that fear factor we've been missing. Too many small time clubs came to Old Trafford under Moyes and LVG and took 3 pts or a win. Too many records crushed.

Hey, I am not a LVG supporter. But under LVG, our home record has been one of the best of any club in the league.

How reliable are AS? I recall them having a lot of misses in the summer transfer windows but can't remember which ones :S
