Hiring Mourinho is probably the 2nd sensible thing we've done since Fergie left. 1st one was sacking Moyes obviously.

Why would it be weird? Guardiola was announced before the final for champions league. Some people seem to think Guardiola announcement was the reason City performed badly. So how did Bayern manage to win a treble after he was announced?
