Bayer leverkusen vs Manchester United Team news/Latest score etc.

We've played some brilliant stuff this year, but also some schoolboy stuff.

Entertaining as ever, and our European performances have generally been very good. Not sure that we deserve to be European Champions, or PL champions tbh. Too inconsistent.

No, cos it didn't go in... ;)

I agree Liv; how true is what you say but in the end it all goes down to episodes.
Tonight we really deserved to go ahead.
I have always declared howmuch I loved the football that Bayer have showed this year but tonight.........
they were just wasting time, falling on the ground

incredible ball by Ole high on the bar after the clearance

I'm disappointed, gutted, but the truth is that at times this season for whatever reason(5 across the middle, Veron, Becks' injury, not starting with Ole) we haven't played that well. At it has finally caught up with us.

my thoughts exactly, the only positive out of tonite is that we have been saved from a humiliating thrashing that REAL would give us if we played like that in the final :(

Next year ..... ;) i heard the final was at OT .... <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

apart from Keane, on whose performance and leadership any word is meaningless, who is a super-champion,tonight I found that Wes Brown had the right motivation, and alsoBarthez.

I'm really disappointed at Scholes performance, and at Silvestre's one.

A good Veron, but could have done more.

I still think we play better in the United way, 4-4-2 - and with a strong back four, we'd be a match for anyone.

we will back next year!!!!!!! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
let's beat arse on OT...to end this brilliant season!!!!!!!
come on united!!!!!!!!!!1 <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

I thought we played well, with a little bit more luck we would have got a 2nd goal. Fair play to the players and manager of Leverkusen they played football and held on to the bitter end so they deserve to get to the final. I hope they beat Real in the final. Compare Leverkusen to that bunch of criminals we played in the quarter finals. Ah well, next year here we come.

Giggsy had a poor one. But that's the way it goes - there's no way he shouldn't have been playing in case anyone thinks that's what I mean.

Keano = :cool:

I was impressed by Leverkusen..they didn't try and kick or cheat their way through..as Deportivo did once behind. They won it on merit.

When does that World Cup thing everyone's been talking about start ?

Just not our year. :( Well, Let's take it out on Arsenal now!~!!!!

Giggsy didn0t have a good game, roght, but he was there till the end.

Honestly, I waswondering why we were leaving Scholes on the pitch.
Scholes has never been in the match.

They haven't won...We have drawn twice. That rule is unfair.

IMO it would be unfair to L'kusen if they didn't qualify to the final.
They were better than us in most of the 180 minutes.

</strong><hr></blockquote>

Being exciting to watch does not win trophies.
There is no trophy for drawing with the eventual champions twice.
"Oh well, next year" - is this a fecking scouse board?!?!

I'm fecking gutted.
In two weeks (it's two weeks, right?) when you watch the final will you still think 'oh well, next year' when you think of how close we got and that there'll be another year and another damn hard competition to get there, IF we get there?

Boohoo, I'm going to go cry now :(

Ps: Forlan is not a football player, he's a walking ancient Uruguayan curse spell, the poor lad.

The only two players who have good games are the two that scored. Everyone else was anywhere from crap to mediocre. Bayer's defence we bumbling around at sixes and sevens all evening but they happened to poke away the few good chances we had on goal. We weren't exactly good defensively either but at least we limited their chances to Neuville. Fergie did the best he could with the cast of characters he had available tonight. Bring on next year.

conceiding a goal 10 seconds before half time; incredible how things turn due to luck and episodes in these matches.

We have to thank the Deportivo players to have deprived us of David Beckham; this kind of things is really distasteful.

Boring, but right...its not just Ole (although I'm a real Ole fan) , but we insist on playing our best team and formation only once we've gone behind, get desperate, or need to bring on a substitute.

Don't know if I'd say we 'limited' that lad who hit the post in the first half

And if we started 4-4-2 and still not qualify everyone would ask why didn't we use the formation which worked so well in most recent matches.

The formation didn't cost us.

He's a feckin' good footballer actually. He just isn't an out and out striker imo.

You'll see that he infact is an excellent striker next year.

Yes it did.

That's what Laurent Blanc has said on Canal Plus after the game.

The formation didn't cost us. We had two sure goals cleared off the line. That's what cost us.
