This pic has been haunting me ever since I first saw it years ago.

A beautiful woman with 2 pints of beer in her hands. That's the British concept of Valhalla

joking
Fairly certain Odin and the other æsir would be perfectly happy with her trotting around in their Valhalla as well.

well In my Valhalla I am willing to sacrifice the two pints of beer for Katheryn Winnick

And that would be my worry. Not just the injury record. The fact that his performances might be on the decline. Which was the reason we got rid of Falcao, a younger player.

I don't think his performances declined, it was just that Bayern had a fantastic run with Alonso playing as a DM while Schweinsteiger was injured. You don't want to disrupt a winning streak I guess. The constant injury problems with his joints are more concerning. I think he is a superb signing, but if Van Gaal has chosen him in place of Schneiderlin, then this is a gamble that could go horribly wrong. If we get Schneiderlin as well, then for me the Schweinsteiger signing looks even better.

Doesn't seem like he's join United for a big fat final pay day at a top club judging by the £145k per week wages being touted.

Haha, you lot and your 4% ciders. The height from which Belgium and Germany shit all over you when it comes to beer is not fake.

It appears you are entirely uneducated about the many breweries and microbreweries making literally thousands of varieties of bitters, milds, IPAs, stouts and porters. From the low 3% right up to 20%.

As for Ciders, if you've only had one that's 4% I pity you. You should try the end of a barrel of Old Barker, I'd put money on it that you couldn't get much past two.

Is that not Net?

Edit - Apparently not.

James Milner, 29, £0m, £150k a week.
Bastian Schweinstiger, 30, £14m, £145k a week.

He could get that at Munich. I don't think anyone needs to question his integrity. By the sounds of it, he wanted to play in the premiership and he now get's his wish. Having said that, anyone leaving or moving about the place late in the day can be accused of the same thing so what can you do?

I've worked in afew pubs around the country in the few months I've been here, I've well seen what the average British guy enjoys and it is hardly impressive. You live on SM and Guinness and the likes, you basically missed the point, and as expected got pedantic over my comment, obviously you can find good beer anywhere in the fecking world if you try hard but that was not the point at all. Good beer is what I have missed the most after moving from Europe to UK and I am talking about getting good beer at a certain level of convenience and not going through piles of shite to find one or two.

How has this thread gone from the merits of Bastian Schweinsteiger to booze?

Literally every pub in a 50 mile radius of me has at least 4 guest ales, most up to 6 or 8, I've no idea where you've been working but I doubt you've been looking very hard.

This is an entirely natural discussion in a Schweinstiger thread and absolutely not off topic.

 I'd suggest you give yourself a bit of education mate. That's the biggest load of drivel I have ever heard!

Real cider in this country rarely drops below 6% and is top quality. We're not talking about fecking magners here you drink with ice. We're talking proper west country cider.

As for ale, you're showing your ignorance lad :) just because you've worked in shit pubs don't assume that's how we do it :)

However you're right on lager. The Belgians and the Germans are spot on!

I don't know how anyone drinks fosters, carling and the likes.

Trust me brodda beer is serious business. And again, what are the best sellers or what people commonly 'enjoy' in UK? That is what I am talking about, not that I 'cannot' find good beer here haha.

Quit taking everything personally and you might see my point. :D

I'm a bit lost as to how this fits into the point you were originally making then. Bastian is going to have trouble finding a good beer because he's only going to be allowed to ask the very average Englishman if he's allowed to drink his one rather than buy his own?

I am not following Jamie Carragher on twitter - but seeing as he joked about Schweini being over the hill - has anyone asked him what he would prefer ? :

a) Milner at £150.000 a week
b) 1 year older Schweinsteiger at £145.000 a week - and transfer fee of £14.5 mill

Interesting how many people didn't want Hummels due to a drop of form and supposed injury prone... ness. However, Bastian was kept out of the team by a much older Alonso last season and has played more than 25 league games once in the last 4 seasons.

I'm not saying i desperately wanted Hummels or don't want Bastian, but a lot of people have ignored quite a few facts and gone full muppet mode. He could easily be another Falcao like flop.

Obviously i hope not.

Yes it's quite possible he could get injured a few times but for £14m, you won't find anybody in Europe who could guarantee you the performances he's capable of for at least a couple of years. That's why it's exciting.
