What we saw today didn't exactly fill me with confidence that Schweini will be able to take on that role for the rest of the season. Mourinho has proven to be clearly in the right. Schweinsteiger looks as if he could barely walk out there and I am too confused why people have felt sorry for him and all that.

Loved watching basti and the 2010 and 2014 world cups. Was awesome in his day for Munich too.

Wish he'd joined a club where he'd have gotten more consistent play time. No doubt he'd have adapted his game to suit his age.

Even LvG was bit disappointed with Schweini at the end of his United adventure so at this point it's up to Jose and so far the special one was correct more than once in the individual player management.

Carrick is a deep lying playmaker with a great positional sense. He committed himself in tackles but not as much as someone like Bastian did. Bastian had been in deep end with both Bayern and Germany for years, barely ever taking any rest. No wonder he's knackered. Same thing happened to our own Keano

In sporting terms any particular individual can be old even before the thirties. Minor muscle injuries and joint wear can mount up and slow a person down enough so they can be no longer top level.
As for Carrick, it is of course possible that he can continue two or three more years, but the odds are against it. When the legs go they can go very quickly, and we should be prepared for that.

Evil multi-millionaire? Where have I said that? The guy knew his career was about to end. Rather then make himself look silly at Bayern, he was able to find a big club which was close enough to his homeland and which was stupid enough to give him a long contract on a good salary. Why should he relinquish that? I mean, once his last pay cheque is signed, the guy will move to Germany, were they will still consider him as a god. Who cares what United or British fans think? He's not their hero.

And which sponsor would want to associate itself to a washed up player playing with Xunxai Xinxu? Maybe a retirement home?

Do you think that Gaz is happy to end his fantastic career at OT by looking silly in that last game? Do you think Franco Baresi wanted to end up his career by being repeatedly humiliated by Christian Vieri at home in that humiliating derby? I much doubt it.

Bastian was lucky to get the best of both worlds. He will get his final pay cheque while leaving his reputation at Bayern untouched. He even managed to portray himself as a martyr whose been treated badly by the evil British corporation. I bet Bogarde would be so jealous of that.

We keep players of questionable use around for freakin' ages, van Buyten was with us until he was 36, Scholl was here for an eternity, as was Pizarro. We are pretty loyal if you have earned the clubs respect, Bastian could have stayed until he was 40 if he just wanted.
