Who'd be happy with that?
I know I would.

That's good enough for me
Just think it's too much negativety on here, especially when players so clearly are gonna stay, as with Barthez

Why is that so clear though?
And if it is then I'd say there's a big problem in the system!
Because a player who has had a season as shite as his should be made known that he's fighting for his place in the team and that another season like that and he'd be playing for Preston next year..

And if Fab screws up, I'll try to forget I'm a United fan for 5 seconds, laugh my life away, remember I'm a United fan again and get depressed.
Always a roller coaster with this club...

Of course Sørensen is! He's pure class IMO. If Barthez should leave (which I do not hope), I think Sørensen is the right man for us. He's tall, has great vision and is used to the Premiership...
Go Barthez, go

Say 'Barthez is here to stay' so I don't see logical people bother talking about things that aren't gonna happen.

So, if U read my post, U'd see that I didn't think Barthez will leave, right? I thought things like this was meant for the forum? But we can just stop posting opinions here ok?

Ure? Ian Ure? He used to play centre half for us. He was shite. Do you remember him too? Or are you just incapable of spelling basic English words like "your"?
The Law master is a totally different thing. Ah yes. Denis. Still the king.

IMHO Barthez gives us no stability, he doesn't seem to have any confidence in the defence and they don't seem to have any confidence in him and the way I see it, he's one of the main reasons for our short-comings this season.
A lot of the goals we conceded this season have been down to poor defending by this or that player but a lot of others were just bad collective defending and lack of condifence in one another and I think Barthez has had a big part in that.
I think he's hard a poor, poor year and I'm not even talking about his blunders. I disagree with those who say he's been good during the 2nd half of the season, he was ok, but hardly at his best, his kicking was awful and he still made quite a few mistakes, only luckily for him, he wasn't punished for them.
I do hope we bring in a couple of defenders this summer but I'm afraid we'll never have a solid, stable defence until we cut him loose.

We'll never have a solid defence with him ??? How can you say that, although he was exellent during his first year.
OK, he did make some bad mistakes, but Fab wasn't himself last autumn. First, he had personal problems (including the illness of his mother he has often visited in France). His ability was not in cause, as he could be fantastic and awful during one game.
Anyway, I still think that as long we'll play with only one defensive midfielder, the defence will struggle. Too simple to blame the defence and the keeper when Arsenal has 17 shots on goal, and us only 3 !
I've read a report about the best keeper of all times, the only one to get the ballon d'or. He played three world cups, but the second was a nightmare, when he made several blunders. 4 years after, he had come back at his best level and was incredible.
To say a defence can only be unsetteled with him is stupid, because he has 10 years behind him, has often been excellent and it was the first time he made so many mistakes.
I maintain he has been very good in some games during the second part of the season, particularly in Europe .

I have to agree with Roy...Barthez is full of blunders when he doesn;t concentrate...a lot of the time nowadays.. he almost gifted Uruguay a goal today..and although he is a class keeper, he does not seem to be enjoying himself at Utd. esp. after the Deportivo game. We'd be better off with Sorensen or some other keeper like Rustu Recber. What about Frey of Parma?

HAHA ! At the moment I read your message, I hear journalists saying that Fab was our best player today on the pitch.
feck off, Fergie has said he will stay.

Well, he did come rushing of his line and proceeded to run halfway down the pitch

Yes, but the player was forced to shot besides the goal. If he had stayed may be he would have scored. He was making up mistakes by Desailly and Candela. Still, he was MOM yesterday and made great saves.

Must agree.
IMO Barthez
1)Is too short(susceptible to shots in top corners)
2)Makes too many unnecessary errors
3)Does not command his defence or the penalty area.

The Mexican keeper is 10 cm shorter than Fab, and he's good. Barthez is a good jumper anyway.

When Hedman conceded the goal to Nigeria a very smart commentator said 'It isn't the height that matters, it's what you have in your feet'.
Height, bla, bla, bla. The only question is how high can Barthez get. It's quite high...

He(uruguayan striker) was crowded out by the French defence and France were lucky. It was the French defenders clearing up Barthez's mistake which might have resulted in France getting knocked out of the World Cup. Maybe if it were Lebouef in place of Candela, the guy would have scored there and France would hate Barthez for that. Defenders will make mistakes, but thats what the keeper is there for...to be the last line of defence and hence the keeper has to be able to perform consistently, which Barthez has clearly been unable to do. All his saves for United during the past season have been those that any good keeper MUST make, but he also did not save many goals that should have been saved. Also, his tendency to try and get involved in outfield play is very unsettling for the defence who are forced to make up for his mistakes, something that should not be happening. Therefore, there is no way that we can have a consistent defence without a consistent keeper. Hence, MANCHESTER UNITED would be better off with Sorensen/Rustu Recber/Mart Poom rather than Barthez.

You don't know how those keepers would behave behind the United defence. Barcelona and Manchester United are difficult clubs for keepers, because there is a lot of pression and the team plays an attacking style. After the game, the Uruguyan coach and players were admirative and said that Fab had made saves that no other keeper would have made.
He's not crazy when he runs out of his surface, he does that to cut the actions. He's not passive, he anticipates. When he cuts an action, nobody notices. Obviously, when he makes an error , everyone notices. The defence is not forced to make up his mistakes, it's him who's trying to make up errors made by his defence. This is what people can't understand.
In this game, an average keeper would have conceded 3 goals, and probably nobody would have said anything.
Even if this mistake had led to a goal, I don't think people in France would have hated him.The problem was we couldn't score any goals. In France he's one of the most rated French players.
After this game he had full pages in the press praising him and he got the best notes. I can't believe some criticize him after the game he has made.

I'd prefer Sorensen to Rustu. Rustu was a bit shaky against Costa Rica. Sorensen has been solid as a rock every time I've seen him play.
