Barcelona: Charged with corruption .... again!

The sale of neymar to psg seemed to be the beginning of the mess we see Barca now in

It wasn’t me that said it. Although, they were rejected by Xavi twice and they currently have an unpopular Everton reject in charge. I’m pretty sure they would take a whole host of managers over him.
Xavi rejected the job because Messi was there. He wants total control and knows while Messi was there he couldnt have it as everything gors through Messi. Now hes gone though....

It is, because didn't they waste most of the money.
That bag of 220+m hit them so hard on the head they wobbled their way through the transfer market the following few years. They're just coming out of their daze now.

And I actually don't think they completely wasted it without the benefit of hindsight, they just made some decisions that backfired. I think Ousmane Dembele was expensive, but it wasn't a ridiculous fee for the sort of talent he was displaying at Rennes and Dortmund, his injuries only started once he joined Barcelona but he was a legitimate top young talent in world football. You could argue the same about Coutinho although between him and Dembele, it already feels like one too many, then Griezmann being brought on to play out of position was pure waste.

Griezmann’s club career has been so sad man. If he had converted 2 penalty kicks, he would have won the euros and the CL. If he had stayed at athletico, he would have gone down as a legend, instead he is going to be a symbol of all things wrong with Barca post Neymar.

He made la wrong decisión

How do you know?
Bartemou approached him and he said no and extended his deal in qatar. Victor Fonte, one of the rival candidates to laporta based his campaign around convincing Xavi coming back to become manager. He spent alot of time with Xavi and trying to get Xavi to buy into his vision/project/csmpaign. In an interview with Fonte that i listened to, he said Xavi wants total control. First team and la masia. Xavi wants to modernise Barcelona from the ground up and bring it more in line with the athleticism, Power and speed on the wings of clubs like Bayern, liverpool (recent CL winners) etc etc.

So how is that about Messi?

In order for Xavi to have total control, he cant have his friend and one of the GOAT at the club. There can only be one voice from the top.

So you're speculating and making it into a fact?

They’ve got a brilliant academy that helps a lot. Fati, Moriba, Pedri. Puig are 4 top players coming through plus with Garcia on a free from City that’s 5 highly rated youngsters that will carry them through the next couple of years.

Add in Ter Stegen , De Jong to play alongside a few of the experienced guys and they have a good base to build on. It’s the bang average squad players on 180k a week and the flops like Coutinho on 400k a week that are killing them.

De jongs a young guy. Moriba and Puig aren't that highly rated. But they have a few with real world class potential.

Fat, depending on how he returns from injury.
Demir, the new loan kid who has been impressive.
Pedri, of course.
De jong.

They still have to fix that horrible defense before they think about winning anything.

Their fans are in for a rude awakening.

They're about to go through their own banter era after some of their fans(especially the ones on Barcafourm) ridiculed us for years for our incompetence(so ironic now).

They made Dembele the second most expensive player in the world, after one season with Dortmund, just because they were desperate to please the fans. Coutinho, at that price, was a disaster of a signing.

I get where you’re coming from, but this was a summer where valuations changed to a different level. And at that time, Dembele looked a proper world class talent with characteristics that are very hard to find. I think the initial fee was about 105m (with add-ons I’m sure mostly were never realized), Barcelona probably paid 10-15m extra due to that Neymar bag, that’s inevitable. It’s easy to say in retrospect it was a massive mistake but at the time I thought that was a good move for the future, it just turned out horribly wrong. Coutinho was the one where I thought okay, they don’t know what to do with all this money.

Barcelona have some dark years ahead. Anyone who knows Barca's history knows this is a club that loves to self destruct and their internal political "game of thrones" is like an ongoing simmering volcano always ready to erupt.

Messi was a singular unifying force that kept them together pulling in the same direction all those years. That's gone now. I expect a lot of turmoil in the coming years.

Cannot wait to watch this shit show.

“Get what you fecking deserve”.

Barcelona deserve everything they're getting, with the way they've been running the club.

1. They offered a massively high amount for Coutinho in the summer before they signed him and were stupid enough to go back in for him in January. Coutinho was never an absolute top player and Liverpool had had his best years.

2. Dembele had been good at Dortmund but not exceptional. There were already stories about him not looking after himself but they went over the top with him.

3. They went in for Griezzmann, who had been playing for Simeone for years, lots of miles on the clock. He played them along in summer 2018 and then made a video rejecting them. Barcelona went back for him the next summer, with one year more of playing under Simeone and lots of Barcelona players not wanting him there after what he'd done the year before. This one the back of taking themselves to the cleaners on Coutinho and Dembele.

Also hear that players like Sergio Roberto are on 10,000,000 NET, Neto is on 4,500,000 NET. It's staggering. I think United should try and find the money to pay for Frenkie De Jong. He'd bring you pretty close to City.

In terms of our total salary yes. He's on ridiculous amount of wages for his age that he'll break our wage structure. He's good, but he's not that good that it's worth it.

Fonte was talking about the "project" and said Xavi has total control (should he decide to buy external players rather than use some of the youth players). In no way, shape, or form was Messi mentioned at any point.

Going by the Victor Fonte interview i listened to as i said previously.
The interview doesn't provide an iota of evidence regarding anything you've said. You just decided to speculate and include Messi as a reason Xavi didn't take the Barcelona job when neither Xavi nor Fonte even mentioned Messi.

So as the other poster said, you're speculating and passing off your speculation as fact.

De Jong and Pedri are the only two Barcelona players who would be worth purchasing but Barcelona won't sell either. They've been trying to offload many of their players this summer to balance their books, and repeatedly insisted those two are untouchable.

I agree, for what it's worth. De Jong would bridge the gap to City even further.

If only Amazon was doing an 'All or Nothing' on them. It would have been something.

do Barca own their stadium? wonder if they can/be forced to sell it
Yes, they own their own stadium and the land around it which is worth a fortune. There's an ambitious redevelopment plan of the area and stadium that will be probably be shelved while Barsa gets itself out of the financial quagmire they are in.

I seriously doubt they would be forced to sell their biggest asset. They just need to accept that they will have 2 or 3 lean years and live with it. Sell de Jong and Stegen who can actually fetch a decent price and let the big salaries go for free if someone wants to take them on (Griezmann might be appetizing for someone if he comes for free).

Think what you want i listened to the interview. Did you?

Valuations didn't change to a different level, Neymar was an outlier, PSG making a statement, there was nothing about his transfer fee that signalled that this is the new going rate for top players, same goes for Mbappe. There's a pretty hefty gap between the high transfer fees (Lukaku to United, VVD to Liverpool, Morata to Chelsea) and the absolutely insane ones (Neymar, Coutinho, Dembele, Mbappe).

Dembele was considered an extremely talented player, but after one season with Dortmund there was nothing whatsoever that suggested it was a good idea to make him the second most expensive player in the world, it's just a mental gamble to make.

Barcelona apparently needs to save additional 144 Million to register Depay

Barcelona apparently needs to save additional 144 Million to register Depay
That would be 60m less than reported before, what did happen that they are that much closer to the limit than before?

Do they have to pay the players if they can't register them ? I'd imagine a employment contract is still valid, it's not the players fault.

It's obviously hilarious to watch from a distance and a good lesson for other clubs. They should never have let Messi and his wages get so out of control.

Aguero's been physically finished for year and a half so no City fan is surprised by these news. It's sad but can happen when a player becomes La Liga regular aged just 18-19. If anything it surprised me how many offers Aguero had. I mean good for him but pay him sign on bonus and then 10M per season, that's jsut ridiculous.

Really don't understand why no teams are putting in low ball offers for their players. We should be all over Pedri or De Jong.
