Barcelona: Charged with corruption .... again!

How are you so sure that there was no warning?
Do you work at any La Liga club?

I am sure the clubs are somewhat notified of future regulation changes or the introduction of new rules.

The fact that it doesn't reach the ears of the general fans doesn't mean the clubs are not warned beforehand.

You’re the one trying to make a case that the La Liga and Tebas specifically is out to get you. Surely the burden of proof is on you to substantiate your claims.

Put figures and we discuss.

Season 19-20

Debt

Profitability

"LaLiga was the only league coming close to a break even on the bottom line. After interest and taxes Premier League clubs had accumulated losses of €1.08 billion, which is approximately €360 more than Serie A and €816 more than Ligue 1."
Premier League clubs lost five times as much as Bundesliga clubs in 2019/20.

Behind a paywall and that appears to be a very cherry picked stat. Interest, taxes etc etc make a big difference, and also Barcelona's debt is higher than any in the Premier League, including those such as Tottenham, Arsenal who have something to show for it (stadia)

None of the rest of my point about financial irregularity in La Liga was wrong.

Interesting that you only chose part of the post to respond too. Was that the only part you felt was defensible?

You have seven days free. Sign up and you can read everything.
The data is very clear, that year Barcelona had €97M losses.

Present your data to counter-argue, comparison of all leagues.

Can you tell me how much is the debt of Barcelona and Tottenham? In net and gross of each. And also where you get the information.

I explained it earlier.
It seems normal to you that there is no regulation on the sale of assets (levers), and suddenly laliga tells Barcelona that they can not sell more assets 2 weeks before closing the market? Does it seem logical to you?

If you allow you to sell assets then you keep it until the close of the market, and when it ends you regulate it.
The other option would be to ban it before the market starts.

Some of the Barca fans on this thread make Leeds fans sound sensible such is the level of conspiracies claimed against them but, of course, Leeds wold have brought more*

Some haters on this thread simply make assessments without providing arguments of any kind.

Out of interest are Celta Vigo the Millwall of Spain? Cos everybody "hates them too" according to their fans....

Celta de Vigo is one of the most liked clubs in Spain.
Where did you get the information?

That's true. Celta play an atractive brand of football. It's always nice to watch them. They don't park the bus and waste time like some other clubs. Celta, Betis and Real Sociedad are great teams to play against. I only dislike Real Madrid and Atlético. The first for obvious reasons, the second for their playing style.

Well, we all know examples of this. For example when the refs change their criteria for taking decisions on the pitch fans are not warned beforehand, but the teams are, sometimes with months.
We have heard of the meetings the refs have with each team and their players on the summer break.

It is only fair to assume that the teams are also informed of the rest of the regulation changes beforehand, at least by a measly email, than to think that rules are constantly changing and noone gets a headsup

I’m guessing he can’t be registered as a youth player anymore?
Barca always deliver.

FC Barcelona cannot register Gavi as a first team player; departures are needed in January for it to happen
Players cling to barca like an obsessed lover.
They tried to leave Frenkie in the woods but he returned home.
It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

Odd, surely Pique’s retirement sorts that out

Apparently not. Now the FFP in Spain is updated at every moment. And instead of waiting for the end of the season to see the economy and if Barcelona complied, LaLiga is already doing its math.

How Barcelona was out of the Champions League, LaLiga has already lowered the FFP.
Laliga also changed several rules and now the levers no longer serve to raise the FFP.

The same has happened to Atlético de Madrid and will sell Cunha and J. Félix

Lots of Dembele fans in the Barca thread. Who would have guessed, I suppose 12 months is a long time in football.

He's the exact type of player that I just can't stand. Loads of talent, regularly misapplied. He doesn't have any competitive edge, poor mentality, terrible decision making. The type of player I just get frustrated by, because if he just did the right thing on the ball he would be brilliant.

Someone referred to him as top 5 wingers in the world - I'd rate him somewhere between the winger version of Rashford and the winger version of Sterling. Funnily enough, I reckon all 3 of these will look back at careers that peaked either in or before their early 20s.

I was going to say i stand by every word, but probably harsh on Rashford.

Dembele is not a top level footballer.

He never has been. If his team plays another type of game, Dembele's shortcomings are quite concealed.

Finally Messi wins the WC, his biggest goal he was aiming for his whole footballer career. What a ride it has been following his career since 2005, unbelievable. If that is not a happy ending, I don't know what is.
For me the best of all time, without a doubt.
Now what's left for him to do is to come back and give us a proper good bye in the Camp Nou.

GOAT without any doubt whatsoever. No player has won as many collective trophies for club and country let alone personal honours. The longevity is insane and unmatched as well. Let alone all the goalscoring records, records in regards to assists and insane top level. He has comfortably been the best performing player for 1.5 decade.

What is even more scary to think about is that he could have won even more trophies for both Barça and Argentina. No need to talk about the institutional insanity he had to put up with at Barça for his last 4-5 years or the many mediocre managers outside Pep and Lucho.

Fantastic to put at end to that ridiculous, frankly should never have taken place, debate of comparing freaking Messi of all players to C. Ronaldo. That is settled permanently now. Thank God for that.

As a side note, as a person of Spanish and Italian extraction with a Argentinian girlfriend I was cheering for Argentina (natural team to cheer for as well given the incredibly close connection Argentina has with Spain and Italy) to an insane degree. That was the most amazing final that I have ever seen. It will always be remembered even for the neutrals. Fitting that it was a final that Messi ended up winning.

Anyway Messi winning also further improves the legacy of Barça and our tradition of having all-time greats playing for the club. He is synanomous with the club being the footballer that has scored the most goals in history for a single club as well as won the most trophies for a single club.

Anyway good that nobody got injured this World Cup given the absurd ban of Lewandowski but this is the reality when we have always been competiting in a rigged league in a notoriously corrupt country (Spain) with the RFEF, La Liga, media etc. all being (as was always the case) pro-RM lapdogs. Must watch video for Spanish speakers regarding this very thing.

Trophies won by Messi with Argentina while being a Barcelona player: 0

Trophies won by Messi with Argentina after leaving Barcelona: 2

Coincidence? I think not!

Completely irrelevant. Messi is synonymous with Barça. Messi won the 2008 Men's Olympic Football Tournament as well as the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2005 while a Barça player.. He was technically a Barça player as well for half of the Copa América win in 2021 as well.

Congratulations, Barca, on the Argentinian PSG player Lionel Messi's world cup win! Mes que un club!

He is the most overrated player ever: inconsistent, poor mentality, lacks end product, goes missing on big games.
If Barcelona wants to be great again, he is one of the players they need to get rid off.

Still don’t understand why some people over here admire that headless chicken.

PSG legend. Had to leave to achieve his dream.
Just imagine what he could have been if he didn't spend most of his career at that unserious club. 8 CL, 3 WC, 12 Balon D'Or, etc...

That mob was holding him back all along :D

It has been an immense privilege to have followed and watched almost every single game of the GOAT in a Barça shirt (many games watching Argentina too) for 17 years. Never has there been a player that has contributed, achievement and meant so much for a football club. All while performing several genius acts in almost every single game for 17 years.

Although it is unlikely for the club to sign him this upcoming summer (looks like QSG, sorry, PSG will extend with him), from a fans perspective, it would be a beautiful sight to see him play carefree after his much sought after World Cup win and have a fitting end, that he was denied due to the sabotage and damage of Bartomeu and the other crooks of the previous junta, at his beloved boyhood club.

I would love to see it and personally every kind of logic in this regard, whether it would be a good sporting choice or not, would go out of the window for my part at least.

Not going to happen and maybe for the better. Messi will be back at Barça in some capacity anyway. Just a question of time.

Barça fans that have been following Dembélé for the past 5 years (when he was not spending time at home or in the hospital bed recovering from his many injuries, basically half of his time at the club), already knew all that. I am yet to see a single fan proclaim him to be some world beater. He is an immensely talented player with a low footballing IQ (although he has been improving this part of his game) who in one moment of a game can have several moments of genius or brilliance just for the next moment to be unable to make a simple pass. That is just the nature of him as a footballer.
With Dembélé you can have insane solo goals like the goal against Tottenham or insane inexcusable misses like the infamous miss against Liverpool in the dying minutes of the game with his team up 3.0.....

Having said that, in the current setup (one of the worst Barças in the past 20 + years), he is one of our few players that has pace, can create chances out of nowhere etc. Which probably explains why Xavi likes him so much. And to be fair to him, he has been performing rather well this season with numerous assists and a lot of pressing. Staying fit so far too. Raphinha for all the hype (EPL, Brazil NT and all that) has not really performed as expected until the last few games where he was a key player and assisted in that Valencia win at the Mestalla and scoring that great goal in the crazy comeback against Osasuna at El Sadar to seal the win.

I would IMO still try to keep him as he would be one of the best rotational attacking players that we can realistically acquire in the foreseeable future (next 1-2 seasons). However it all depends on the club finances, what a potential sale this summer could look like, who the board could replace him with etc.

His poor performance in the World Cup might galvanize him (think of Messi in that insane 2014-15 treble season right after losing the World Cup final - of course not to the same degree but less could do) or something that might destroy him. We will have to see when the season restarts against the pericos on New Year's Eve.
