Barcelona: Charged with corruption .... again!

If Viktoria Pilsen get a point in Italy and Barcelona win the two remaining games they can still qualify.

Bayern 15 points.
Barcelona 10 points
Inter 8 points.

While there is hope there is life.
They’ve conceded 17 goals in 4 games. They aren’t getting a draw away to Inter no matter how much you weirdly want them to

Inter needs to loose AND Barcelona needs to win/draw against Bayern. Could happen, like a 1% chance or something. Then, Inter still has a chance to qualify if they beat a Bayern team that will propably rest most of their starters before the WC since they'll already be 1st. So yeah, 1%, not more.

Exactly. Too many results need to go Barcelona's way for them to qualify at this point and some of those results are very unlikely to happen.

Obviously it's not done until it's done but the probability is about the same as United or Chelsea winning the EPL this season. It's just not going to happen.

Wait , I thought the “levers” they did pull would all come crashing in on them if the “unthinkable” happened and they didn’t get out of the group stages?

They will be short the income they pre-sold, AND not have the crucial Champions league income .

This team was supposed to be galactico level and bring in loads of money and champions league late stages minimum, and that would save them.

Am I misremembering the narrative?
You are.

They were prudent .... sold some key assets when good offers came in, made one or two cheap buys and took the medium term decision to ‘struggle’ for 2 or 3 years then come back stronger.

Oh wait, that was some other club.

As long as Pique, Busquets, Roberto and Alba are still in the club, the cl keeps on giving. They are the faces of every disgrace barca had in the cl these past years. It's beyond me, how they are still playing for the club. Pique looked like a 3rd division defender. EL 2nd year in a row now. Congratz Laporta&Xavi. I bet they let them play until they are 40 and barca plays Conference League.

ADN Barça.

In all seriousness, CL group exit or not, we were not going to win the CL this season (only one team will) anyway. Only a monetary loss unless the team has a deep run in the Europa League. I rather win the Europa League than not winning the CL by going out in the knockout stage or losing the CL final.

Hillariously bad CL performances by the Spanish teams this season.

Full focus on La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup now.

The CL is a corrupt tinpot tournament anyway, soon to be replaced by the Super League.

Just to the quarter finals but there is far more money in finishing second in la liga than qf in CL

Yup, you are. It would be disastrous if they failed to make it to knockouts over the next 5 years but they’ve gotten rid of a lot of bad contracts with more on the way out next summer.

Stage - Denial

Gotta love "everything is fine", Barca fans with financial expertise

They’ve spend all summer defending them and their levers. It’s weird as feck. One of them kept arguing that Barca would be up there with City and not a top 4 team if they played in England.

Team has been decimated with injuries, entire starting back line is injured. Going out this early in Cl is obviously bad but the injuries have been horrific

Getting knocked out is going to be hell of that club financially. May have to sell off another piece of their soul to cover costs

This is the thing.... the truth, Spain don't want them to collapse, and why would they? So they'll be protected by virtue of some new dodgy financial thing no one evers heard of allowing them to spend another few hundred million next summer and casually continue OAP FC by bringing back Messi.... all while oweing loads of players, loads of money, bullying the ones they don't want off the books and general just shoddy behaviour. They'll just hope you forget all this shit and it'll fix itself magically.
Yeah that's probably what will happen, too big to fail etc etc.

This season has horrible fixture congestion second only to the first pandemic season. Injuries are something that every single team in the major league had to plan for massively this year and it was barca board's choice to completely ignore getting decent squad depth.

And you'll know how bad it is when Pedri signs for City next summer

It absolutely is, the money finishing second In la liga is ten times that of making it to R16. They’ve shed a ton of bad contracts.
But Barca have budgeted for both. Not just second but winning the league. It’s not an either / or. CL isn’t extra money for a rainy day

What are you basing this on?

Just wait and see. It is a boring and outdated tournament format run by a utterly corrupt organization that takes half of the profit that clubs make on their own. The new upcoming format is even worse. Monopolies are illegal too under EU law. PSG, Man City and soon to be Newcastle already breaking rules left and right without any consequences whatsoever. Been the case for years. The interest in football is dying and there has never been such a disparity and monotony in elite football. Crap overall in many ways.

The robbery in Milano last week did not help either.

That's the spirit

Surprised at all the weirdos piranhas in here getting happy about Barca’s demise. Focus on your own club and lever them alone.

fixed for…. that welbzy chap posting here and there and mocking me for this :D

They actually have 5 CBs. The 3 good ones all got injured

Most copium post I've read in a while.

When they used the Levers they thouggt that they would be a force again.

I guess it is a case of Lever Say Lever Again.

Ideal scenario would be finishing 2nd in our group and facing Barca in a tie for progressing to the last 16 and dump them out.

Getting bounced from the Champions League will feel like another black eye to Joan Laporta! More Levers! Barca need more Levers!!

It is the reality. I prefer winning a trophy than going out in the knockout stage or losing a CL final. Only the winners are remembered which there is only 1 of each season.

In any case I have never rated the CL that highly and I have witnessed my team winning 4 CL trophies in 9 years (2006-2015).

Xavi is a novice manager and the club is coming out of its worst crisis in 20 + years and 1 year ago lost the most accomplished club footballer (individually and collectively) for any single club. This is a team under construction with an absurd amount of injured defensive personnel. Our 3 main defenders were out with injuries tonight. Add the robbery last week. No sane person expected any CL trophy this season. Only some deluded rival fans and RM-controlled Spanish media, so they could then say what a failure it is, if the team does not win which is a deliberate tactic. Same media was supporting Bartomeu’s sabotage of the club or were silent. Same thing in any case.

The issue is that even in Europa League, there would be plenty of teams with quality on same level at this Inter (in their current form). There is no guarantee that you can just will yourself to win it. That's before you account for the dark horse teams like what you experienced last season.

After World Cup, and playing Thursday-Sunday for second half of the season can be very unpredictable.

Pique here saying ‘it’s alright guys no need to worry’ while there’s obvious danger lurking behind him is basically Barca fans in this thread.

DIdn't see you mention the robbery tonight when Dembele should obviously have received a red card. So i'm pretty sure it evens out.

Sure, but at least the chances are greater for an actual win or a deep run. In particular with full squad and hopefully a tactically wiser Xavi. In any case the league should always be the priority and there is the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup too. For instance a league title would be a huge accomplishment this season and add some much needed positivity to the club and the club/fan environment. Rest would be the cherry on top of the cake.

I don't really understand this.

If it is a team under construction then surely a lost CL final is a much better sign that the construction is going well than winning a Europa League.

I would always prefer winning an actual trophy rather than going out in the CL knockout stages let alone losing a CL final. I have never witnessed Barça lose a CL final and I would prefer not to but in any case winning the Europa League is much more preferable than not winning the CL.

You know the worst part? Inter plays at 6.45pm against Plzen so it's likely Barcelona is eliminated even before the game against Bayern

You are a PSG (QSG) fan. You have spent billions of euros for the past 11 years with nothing to show for it in the CL. Highly likely that this will continue after this season so I am not sure why you are laughing?
