To say that this is not a bad signing for 3 mil is a no brainer. Jardel is a goal scoring machine and considering that Man Utd paid 7 mil for Forlan who has so far done feck all.

The more transfers I see occuring, the more embarrassed I feel about our transfer dealings.
How can Barca get the Golden boot winner (twice) for 3 million?
 
Because he scores his goals in the portugeese league, the same league where central defenders like Phil Babb are considered the best they have.
Anyone embaressed about Man Utd's transfer dealings has serious problems.
 
Jardel must be the most underrated striker ever, and I've suggested from time to time on here that we should've considered buying him. 30+ goals for feck knows how many seasons on the trot.

Not in the top leagues though, but his consistency speaks volumes anyway. It'll be very interesting to see if he can cut it in Spain.
 
He has scored a lot in Cl too and there arent Phil Babb.We needed a striker and didnt pick the guy up.Strange.

exactly, i hate the way ppl have given up on Diego. It took andy Cole over 2 yrs to get into his stride @ Utd and he arrived with the status as most feared striker in the premiership.
Hes a Man Utd player and hes going to be great. Jardel is just Niall Quinn with a suntan.

Jardel is lethal as few.He is a better player than OGS too.Ruud are our only real worldclass striker.

Jardel is an over-rated pile of shite. He scores goals in weak leagues, and won't do anything for Barca. He isn't as good as Saviola or Kluivert. He can't move off the ball. He can't dribble with the ball. All he can do is put the ball in the net against shite opposition. He will do little in Spain IMO.

why didn't ppl ask about Ole coming from a Norwegion 3rd division then?

He scored goals for fun and i saw him walking into goals... kinda crazy..

But did Man Utd doubt him? If fergie didn't had faith he wouldn't have bought him and develop into today's ole.

And Jardel is a class striker IMO. People's views can differ, like Ruud may be world-class on some days, or shite on another. So it actually depends on the skill, the potential in a player, form and luck.

Now how would you rate an Argentine league with a Portugese league? OR French league with Portugese? Escude comes from a weak French league. Jardel? From one of the former European giants... which one's better in terms of league.

You can't judge like that..

We shouldn'y bother about Barca getting this pile of shite, but when considering that we paid 7.5m for Forlan and they got for that sort of money the likes of Saviola & D'Alessandro you start questioning our transfer policy

Do the likes of Saviola, Riquelme and D'alessandro have EU passports? If not than there's really no point in going for them as they don't have anywhere near enough international appearances.
 
D'Allesandro has an Italian passport I think so he wouldnt be a non-EU. He hasnt signed for Barca anyway, hes still at River Plate.

I dont think he's very good in the air anyway. I was thinking more along the lines of conventional goals in which he utilizes his speed.

That's right, all the players we buy and sell are the best deals done meaning we get the best in whoever we buy and we receive the most money for the ones we sell.

Really? From what I've seen he's great in the air. But most of what I've seen has been Eurogoals highlights, so maybe you're in a better position to judge.

I've never understood why we or another top team didn't splash big money on him years ago. It seemed like he had a dark secret they all knew and didn't like.

Jardel does have a dark secret; his personal life. He has twice before fallen apart during relationship difficulties with his mrs, and they have just split up again... any bets that is why the fee is so low?

Hell turn out to be a great player, it took andy Cole 2 yrs to settle in. Forlan has time on his side and has shown the he will be a great player. The fact that he hasnt scored means fuch all.

You suggested we change everything after last season. The whole defence was to be sacked and you wanted in roughly 10 new players + a whole new coaching staff, (well call it 5).
So you wanted & predicted 15 new faces in, your prediction was roughly 10 out. I wouldnt go bragging about it.

From what I have seen, heading is his best ability. He doesn't have great mobility.

Well, I was actually reading in the Argie papers yesterday. They asked D'Alessandro where he would go next and he said he would give no names as he didn't want to rule out anything and keep his options open.

Doesn't look like a pre-contract-before-clubs agree-mindset to me.

In fact, the only thing he said was he was moving on ~XMAS time as his cycle at River would be over then and he would need a new challenge to develop as a player. Sounds like an excellent timing to me. If we do want/need him we will surely know and have the cash around that time.
