I didn't think he was particularly bad, just thought he was overall 'meh' and nothing to write home about. Don't really agree with the contributions you and PR have talked about, nor do I really pay attention to what Rodgers says.

I'd agree.

He's looking better but has a long way to go before he can redeem his career at LFC.

I've already responded to this above. Essentially it's conjecture as we don't know how Mario was handled in training every day. That's where man management is done or not.
It's conjecture when it's negative but 'reasonable to assume' when positive?

I personally think it's reasonable to assume Rodgers has worked with Balotelli to improve his game. Removing him from the spotlight was a way of taking him away from the weekly flak. However, this is still conjecture.

And who exactly is going to buy Balotelli now? Under such circumstances the boy would have been offloaded by Inter, City, Milan and now Liverpool. His salary is too large to attract the smaller clubs and his reputation is too known to attract the big ones.

In my opinion the Scousers options are somehow limited. They can either keep him and play him when needed or else he will end up like our own Ando who overstayed at the club while doing nothing. I believe the first option is better.

I don't think we need to sell him. Just don't want to go into next season where we need him to be a key performer like we did this season.

Nah, he's still Balotelli, his reputation as a star player hasn't yet disappeared and he will have plenty of potential suitors if he's on the move - most of them from weaker leagues admittedly but still. The likes of Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Dynamo Kyiv or Zenit would gladly have him within their ranks I imagine, then also some Italian clubs would take him too. Turkey would be the most probable destination IMO, Galatasaray wanted him before he made a move to Liverpool and would probably try to get him again. You'd obviously be looking at a fee in the £6m-£8m range from them but it's better than nothing.

I'd keep him if I were Liverpool though. He clearly has some talent, obviously not as much as people pretended before the last twelve months, but he could be a useful player if he finds some form.

Would all those teams be able to afford him and his wages though?

I imagine Galatasaray could pay him what he wants, Sneijder is there right now and Balotelli would probably be on similar sort of wages.

That's the thing, he's not a star player although he believes he is. Why would he accept to take a dead end root (Zenit) when he's still at the prime of his career? He might as well stay at Liverpool were he's confident (ego) he can win a first team place. To be fair I dont really blame him. Sturridge and Origi (what ever his name is) are hardly Lineker and Van Basten in their prime.

Sturridge is a much, much better player than him and he should know it by now. Sturridge might actually be one of the top 50 forwards in Europe right now.

the good thing for Liverpool is that he's on relatively low wages - 90k or 100k a week I think

that kind of figure is achievable by most PL clubs with the new TV deal but would he want to move somewhere like that

in terms of Italy - he'd have to be the marquee signing as most top earners are on around 4/5 million euro a year

Why? Wouldn't you have him in the top 50 forwards right now? I probably would.

He's not top 10 or top 20 definitely, but top 50 is a possibility. You don't rate him?

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. Sturridge is better then Balotelli but the gap isn't as big for the latter not to be able to reach or even exceed such levels. We're not talking about Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt here.

If you're trolling Barney, I salute you. If you're not, it's still fun cos you're making that vein in his head pop like mad!

I accept your explanation of conjecture.

Gerrard was fuming with him. Confirmed that Rodgers told Henderson that he was on pens for tonight's match. Balotelli deserves a massive bollocking from Rodgers. Fair play to Henderson for how he handled it in his interview after the match.

Way to inspire confidence, Gerrard. Why air your dirty laundry on live television? If Henderson was meant to take it, fine, but keep it internal, don't start slagging off the guy who's just won you the match. Pathetic.

It's obvious that Balotelli has no future there. In the summer they'll be looking to flog him.

Gerrard came across as a right bellend tbh

No he didn't. He was spot on with his comments. I would want Balotelli taking a penalty instead of Henderson, but if Rodgers had said before the game that Henderson was to take penalties, then it should have been Henderson on the penalties.

Mountain out of a molehill.

Balotelli has an excellent record. He's taken pressure penalties. Have Sturridge/Henderson actually taken one? I can't recall any.

Let's have a vid of the incident + post match comments if poss. Sounds hilarious

Penalty aside, Mario looks a different man compared to before Christmas.

Why the hell would you have Jordan Henderson taking a penalty over Balotelli anyway?

Don't see all the fuss myself. Balo doesn't miss and should have took it

Rogers obviously wants him to earn his status in the team like Henderson has. Baloteli has been 50 shades of garbage for most of the season. He has a couple of 7/10 sub appearances and he thinks that he is entitled to be the man?

Gerrard's comments indicate that Baloteli is perhaps decisive in the dressing room, in that everyone thinks he is a twat, apart from one person, Mario himself.

Balotelli being a good penalty taker is irrelevant, he wasn't the designated taker and he acted the selfish clown taking it from Henderson. He'll probably get a slap on the wrist from Rodgers and that'll be it.
