Ayden Heaven | Signs from Arsenal

I know nothing about him, but we need left footed players in the squad. Hopefully he's not far away from getting a game or two in the first team next season (this season i think would be too much to expect)

Would be good to know what made a North London boy leave the Arsenal academy at a time when Arsenal's prospects look far brighter to join Manchester United. Same can be asked for Chido Obi Martin's case too.

Obi Martin is a United fan

Just guessing, but maybe it's because we are so far behind they see an easier route into uniteds team. Arsenal's squad is relatively young in the areas that both players play in.

It's all well and good that Arsenal are doing well, but it doesn't really matter for the development of Obi and Heaven if they're not in the squad. There seems to be more of a pathway into the first team squad at United currently.

Welcome to Heaven. Hope to see you make great strides here. And… It’s the last pun on your name you will ever see in the Caf.

18-year old left-footed CB/CM has joined the club from Arsenal.

So he’s from the area, is an arsenal fan, and yet he’s joining a team that are 12th, have 6 centre backs already, including one that’s the same age as him who cost €60m.

Have we offered him big wages or something?

Think he wants to play midfield and Arsenal want him to be a cb.

I mean Lindelof and Evans will leave. Maguire is the wrong side of 30 and may still leave if we decide not to offer a new contract.

Both Shaw and Mazraoui can play LCB, but neither of them are nailed on there if Martinez was out. Shaw would have to stay fit first.

I'd argue that the LCB is actually a good spot in the squad to have a developing player. If indeed we're bringing him in as a CB at all

AH:
“I am incredibly proud to join Manchester United. I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality.

“There is so much that I want to achieve in the game, I’ll be giving everything to continue my development and become the best player that I can be.”

Jason Wilcox:
“We are delighted that Ayden has joined Manchester United. He is already an extremely talented defender who is ready to join our first-team squad in order to maximise his development.

“This club has a phenomenal track record of supporting young players and we believe that Ayden is in the perfect place to reach his excellent potential.”

So he’ll be training with the first team from the off? I’d imagine he’ll get game time in the u21s though.

This is a really interesting signings. Surely we must envision he will be in and around the first team pretty soon based on age.

I can't imagine we have signed him to develop in our youth team for very long.

Hard to gauge how good he is from Arsenal fans because they either sound bitter or not fussed that he’s gone.

What an amazing name for the creative chant creators. Never mind the obvious Heaven, you can rhyme Ayden with a lot too - could annoy the Geordies and make one that's Blaydon races related like...

"We took the bus from Picadilly,
And she was heavy laden,
Away we went along Railway road,
We're going to watch Ayden."

I did say his name is good for creative creators, which I'm not one of.

Welcome lad. I like those poached young players - I guess the cost of such transfers is never higher than couple of millions so it’s low risk high reward

The consensus from their Reddit both before and after the links were that he's top class on the ball but suspect defensively.

Unless he was super cheap, surely his position isn't a priority? Unless he's a diamond in the rough that has massive potential

We need a bloody striker that can actually score goals we have several CBs

I can guarantee you that signing this lad had absolutely nothing to do with whether we sign a striker or not.

If there are mods online, perhaps this could be moved to the main United forum, considering the club announced it as they do with first team players.

When’s the last time we actually developed a CB into a first team regular though? I mean most of our youngsters recently have been wingers and midfielders.

If he is going straight into training with the first team, he’s joining the first team squad, so he’ll be playing for the first team, the below is from United’s website:

“ Heaven has signed a contract until June 2029, with the option of an additional year, and he will immediately join United’s first-team squad.”

Fair enough. Not sure he’s ready for the first team yet though to be fair. Quite an hard position for a youngster to come into. It’s not like an attacking position where it’s easier for youngsters to break through.

Glad to see we’re making loads of these signings. 15 years late but they’re an absolute no brainer. Low risk, relatively a shot to nothing money wise with potentially massive upsides.

On his wiki it says he’s also capable of playing box to box midfielder.

I think it's quite telling that the club announced him we a centre back.

I think he will become the defacto 6th choice defender (basically on the bench instead of Kukonki) going forward.

Looks quite suited to a back 3, seems comfortable defending the channels and very good on the ball.

Welcome to the club Ayden! Expecting a few of the senior defenders to leave the club in the summer so to recruit a young centre back and cheaply was important. Hope to see him get some games on the 1st team this side if summer.
